From the website look like after completing purchasing the HDB we have to sell off our overseas properties within 6 mths. Why after completing purchase but not before purchase? So meaning we still can purchase HDB if we have properties in oveseas but after that we have to sell it off?
*
sure seems like it.

btw completion of purchase normally is around 2 months after you sign the OTP

Unless you buy properties with cash, they can simply pull ur financial record and they will know.
That is why, they give you 6 months to sell off....that also you need to show them proof of sale.

Many said they not able to check. But do you really sure they cant check??? In my opinion, it is the question whether they want to check or not. If the govt want to check, i guess it is not hard to find out some, may be not all. May be many will tip off to the govt if they launch a tip-off programme which for every success of a tip-off, there will be a reward of SGD 100k or 15% of the HDB price.... tongue.gif

True, with Malaysia Bank Negara, just simply print the CCRIS report, you will be able to see any properties still under loan. For those properties bought by cash or finished installment, may be land office have the data????? In other countries, may be they also have similar data or records.....

yes, u cannot check as of now whether u hold any properties or not IF you have finished paying ur loan.
but if u are still paying ur loan, obviously u still own that property right?
proof of sales is to show that u have disposed off your property, more for those who declared having property and have to sell it off within 6 months.
yes...u can go ahead and risk it at ur own choice.

IRAS has revised the tax rate for 2012. I've wrote a simple online calculator to calculate personal income tax. Feel free to use it and give me your feedback, if you guys found any miscalculation please let me know.

What is the drawback for driving Singapore car back to Johor?

Imigresen will tax?

The only thing I can think of is Singapore cars are big targets for car theft.

Er, maybe because we live and work in Singapore?

If you buy a flat in KL you would still need to pay astronomical rental on your place in SG anyway.

Yes yes, the KL flat will have rental income bla bla. But if I'm looking at rental income, you can buy in Singapore also what. With the current super low interest rates, monthly rental can easily go as high as 1.5times loan installment.

what your friend did is his own problem. Still it's against the HDB regulations. That's what the ppl need to know.

Most laws of this type don't try to catch ALL offenders. Like speeding and drunk driving, the authorities will only penalise the offenders that conveniently fall into their grasp - but the few that they do go after, they'll make sure the penalty is so heavy that it serves as a deterrent to other potential offenders.

I hope your Indon friend doesn't offend anyone who is in a position to provide evidence against him.

Singapore law can be very tough on you.

Play with it at your own risk.

coz I'm a PR. Then again I bought my car like 3 to 4 years back when the COE is only around SGD$12k. With that COE price, the different $ between Sg and Msia car is not much different. Furthermore I already have a Msia car which my wife is using.
When I move to Sg then only I sold off the Msia car. I find it a bit inconvenience without a car, even in Sg
