only heard roc 2.0 will be discontinued, 1.4 also?
if yes, anyone can give the link to the article / news ?

eagerly waiting for the Mk7 launch....

Btw guys, I like Mk5 shape more than Mk6 especially the rear.

Any known issues with Mk5 Yr 08 and onwards? Only stock VGM units, not recond.

The fabric seat vs leather seats models...fabric are all recond cars ?

Thinking of getting 1 while waiting for Mk7.
Any advice from Mk5 owners here?
I see 09 units at 140+ to 150k, seriously still expensive..might as well get E90. So? Need a 4 doors unit.

Anyone know the official selling price for the Mk5 GTI last time ?

Thanks.

are you looking to buy 08-09 MK5 GTI? you can ask questions from me. driving it since new in 2009, covering 89k km, not even daily driven

there are a lot of 09 registered mk5 that is 08 manufactured, that is the newest mk5 is you can find.

there are some for sale, depends on whether you want stock car or fully mod... got many choices out there. there is a 40k km mileage 09 reg MK5 GTI, for RM14xk only, got mods such as revo remap, intercooler, bodykit etc.

all the VGM units are leather seats except the 09 SE which come with fabric. the recon ones could be fabric or leather depends... im with leather but i think the fabric is nice too, the leather is wrinkled too easily

E90? even the 325i is not as fast as the stock mk5 gti. remap the gti and you will gain 40hp and 80Nm with just ECU tweak.. if speed is your concern la. NVH the e90 is better.

official selling price was RM200,xxx in 2007-2008

Hi phas3r,

thanks for the feedback.
means the last batch Mk5 is mfg in 08?
then these are 5yrs car.
looking at the way VGM works, there should be hefty discounts on the last batch. true?
l know last yr Q4, new pre-reg 2011 Mk6 at 190k
so, I m thinking Mk5 08/09 at 140k expensive?
mudah Mk6 09 at 160k but mileage is 100k km.
how ?

Your fren is selling? where is the advert?

yea last manufactured is 2008, but the reg 2009 ones are only start being driven in 2009.. so only 3 years+ on the road.
mk5 for 2005 is 118-125k, last batch 0809 ones is 140-150k.
yes cheapest mk6 with 95k km is rm160k. but if stock still got warranty, unlimited mileage what.

this one, not really my friend but i met him at the workshop and had a talk, selling at rm148k firm;
http://www.mudah.my/Volkswagen+Golf+A+GTI-16183932.htm

this one i dunno the owner, a bit older, 2007 car. but lower mileage 51k, even more accessories... these mods easily worth RM10-20k
http://www.mudah.my/Volkswagen+Golf+GTI+v+...II-16362399.htm

stock 08/09 one with low mileage+warranty

Comparing with Honda City Grade S, Jetta will be having better performance right?

Torque is how fast you get to the max speed, and horsepower (or output if you like) is how fast your top speed is.

No issues la. Youre a female isnt it? At least u asked

Btw 1.5 city and jetta.... Night and day difference haha.

Just go and test drive.

Torque is basically the low end pickup or pulling power. U should see at what rpm the max torque is produced
Most vw cars peak torque is at low rpm, means pickup is very good

Thanks!

Honda City:
Maximum Torque [Nm(kg-m)/rpm] = 145 (14.8)@4,800

Jetta:
Max. torque, Nm at rpm = 240/1500-4500

How to study and compare these 2? Honda is only 300 rpm higher than Jetta, not much different, right?

Hmm, ok actually there is a graph for these two, but to make it simple we just take the max value.

Only if u rev your car til 4800rpm the city will produce its maximum pulling power aka torque. At much less rpm, say 2k or 3k rpm it produce less, maybe 100 or 120nm

While the jetta, at just 1500rpm all the way until 4500rpm it will produce 240nm, which gives u massive pulling power advantage over city

Why does this happen although city's engine is bigger? Because the city is not turbocharged and/or supercharged unlike the jetta or other vws

Thanks for your explaination, I think I have understood the concept. smile.gif

My friend drove Peugeot 308 and the only concern it has is air-cond temperature is not good. This is because Peugeot is Germany car and the car is designed for country of cold whether and not hot whether like Malaysia.

My question is that, how's the air-cond performance of VW?

Peugeot is French and VW is German.
VW's air con is definitely cold enough. You can test the air con in person at the showroom.

thanks for the link. have seen these ads sometime ago.
not comfy getting modded cars from strangers.
unless someone I know personally.
basically I prefer external mods than performance mods.
as I m not into speed just pulling power from traffic lights at most.
PM you.

my 1.4's and the polo sedan air-cond at max performance is very cold,as good as my T&H if not better.
E46 's air-cond is not cold at all, i actually sweat when in it. Not sure about the E90 though.

I have gotta test drive the Mk5 to see if air-cond is as cold as the newer models.

Went to the showroom earlier to sign all the documents. SA even showed me my car with the updated aircon dash. My Passat is now ready for delivery either Monday evening or Tuesday morning.

Question: Was offered RM1.9k for vkool elite and armorcoat security by my SA. Take or do outside better? Any recommendations from all the sifus here?

Looks like a check engine light error as well. Bring it back to the service center to see what is the issue. Could be just a faulty sensor. Your GTI is it a Golf GTI or a Polo GTI? I know several Polo GTI owners have complained about this issue before.
