I got the spec for Jetta:

Max. output, kW (PS) at rpm = 118 (160)/5800

Is it the the higher the maximum output, the better the performance is?

yes.

if you need some comparison, it is faster than a camry 2.4L 2011, maybe even the new 2.5L

Thanks! You answered what I wanted to ask.. smile.gif
Comparing with Honda City Grade S, Jetta will be having better performance right?

Torque is how fast you get to the max speed, and horsepower (or output if you like) is how fast your top speed is.

No issues la. Youre a female isnt it? At least u asked

Btw 1.5 city and jetta.... Night and day difference haha.

Just go and test drive.

Torque is basically the low end pickup or pulling power. U should see at what rpm the max torque is produced
Most vw cars peak torque is at low rpm, means pickup is very good

Thanks!

Honda City:
Maximum Torque [Nm(kg-m)/rpm] = 145 (14.8)@4,800

Jetta:
Max. torque, Nm at rpm = 240/1500-4500

How to study and compare these 2? Honda is only 300 rpm higher than Jetta, not much different, right?

Hmm, ok actually there is a graph for these two, but to make it simple we just take the max value.

Only if u rev your car til 4800rpm the city will produce its maximum pulling power aka torque. At much less rpm, say 2k or 3k rpm it produce less, maybe 100 or 120nm

While the jetta, at just 1500rpm all the way until 4500rpm it will produce 240nm, which gives u massive pulling power advantage over city

Why does this happen although city's engine is bigger? Because the city is not turbocharged and/or supercharged unlike the jetta or other vws

Thanks for your explaination, I think I have understood the concept. smile.gif

My friend drove Peugeot 308 and the only concern it has is air-cond temperature is not good. This is because Peugeot is Germany car and the car is designed for country of cold whether and not hot whether like Malaysia.

My question is that, how's the air-cond performance of VW?
