Is it urgent because CNY is around the corner. In short, the foreigner should settle the outstanding balance and obtain the release letter. With that you and him can go to puspakom to do the ownership transfer and you should also have your loan approval already completed. It's easier of your bank is the same as the foreigner instead of 2 separate banks which will incur longer time and costs ie runner etc.
*
Hi. Not that urgent.. planning to get it done around April.

Yeah. I think if use the same bank the process will be much easier.

Thanks alot for your reply and explanation.

I think I have a clearer picture now.

No need fax letter. After dealer do thumbprint, your dad can do thumbprint straightaway. Instant .as long name matching to what dealer provided

Has anyone tried doing Online Voluntary Ownership Transfer System or Sistem Tukar Milik Sukarela (STMSR) via MyEG?

https://1mid.myeg.com.my/1MID/faq.do

I'm about to give it a try. Mine is a simple case, car no loan, buyer & seller known to each other, Puspakom B5 done.

First speedbump is registering for 1MID. Tried looking for a 1MID kiosk and couldn't find one. Faq says available at RHB-Easy branches but the one near me didn't have one. Anyway I made an appointment last week to register 1MID. MyEG runner came today and registered both of us.

Will probably try the transfer in the next few days, just wanted to ask here if anyone here has done it before. Any tips or gotchas?

hi guys, just want to ask

1. my dad want to transfer ownership of a kenari (which im using) to my name, free from loan. but the thing is, we just had it repaired, and changed the engine. the question is, is it compulsory to register the new engine in the grant or just go check with puspakom, and direct change ownership and the engine number at JPJ?

2. i got a buyer for my car, but the thing is, buyer want to do loan, and my roadtax is currently dead. so to do the Hire Purchase inspection, can I go there with my dead roadtax? will they count check it?

thanks in advance

Before change of ownership, new engine number must be registered in both their system and on your grant.

bro

1. they will check the engine number on geran vs to whats under the hood. got 2 ways here...get a runner see he can "settle" or actually go to the workshop and ask if can get surat for the engine or not...if got surat/custom letter for the engine still can inspection. if dont have, and cant hire a runner, can ask a around your place any workshop do ketuk or not.

2. buyer wanna do loan or not, sure must go through inspection. therefore same issue you will face as above. how long your road tax expired? if more than a year they will need you to perform inspection first before can renew road tax. if less than a year should be no prob. as after inspection approve... can pass to new owner...new owner must buy new insurance under his name, activate road tax , perform transfer of ownership with the approved inspection.

so either way you must settle your engine number issue first. before anything else.

1. Yes i do have the custom letter. Do i need to update geran first before change ownership or can do both at the same time? Planning to do at KL but my dad is in Johor. To bring the car for puspakom inspection is quite a hassle as my dad is not fit to travel

2. Yes it is under 1 year. Around 2 months something like that. Expired on january this yr. So i can just drive the car (w/o roadtax) to puspakom and have them check. And only after that I ask new buyer to settle other matter regarding the ownership transfer.

ahh then it sounds like ur good to go.

when you wanna do the inspection, tell them its to update geran +tukar nama also... so can do one shot . the other form i forgot the name it will be that form + tukar nama. your engine stock engine right ? if so then you fall under section 1.

your dad doesnt have to be there you can do it for him, but need owner signature on forms. you might need to get it chopped by a commissioner to prove its authentic i think this is some new procedure

about the roadtax, normally that would be alright, my friends back in the day used to do it, no issues there, but things might have changed now ... cant say for sure...its been a while since i handled JPJ stuff, been out of the scene. maybe others can chime in or you can juts go straight up...thats what we did .. so yeah once all the proper inspection done and passed. notify new owner, ask him activate his insurance, then hand him the docs so he can renew road tax and change name.

Hi all appreciate if anyone knows the easiest way to solve the problem I have now.

My dad has an old wira with 4g93 and a family friend has a putra. Sometime last year the putra got stolen. A police report was made and the car was found after some time with the whole engine bay empty. My dad decided to buy up the chassis and swap the 4g93 from the wira into the putra since the car is still in good condition.

Now the swap is done and the car is running. Roadtax and insurance have been renewed to make it road legal for the time being (still under previous owner's name). What is the procedure required to change the putra's engine number and transfer ownership of the putra? Thanks

Hi all,

I have a Nissan van with me, which belong to my late sister in- law. He already pass away, now i need to help my sister to get rid of their van, the van financially was fully setter. May i know what is the procedure to get the van sales off without via an used car dealer?. I am quite familiar with jpj procedure for normal buy and sell car. May i know that selling a van is same with a car?

My question:

- i understand that i need to show the death certificate and transfer the name to my sister first, do i need to bring the van for puspakom inspection before allow to change the name? The van still with roadtax until end of dec.

-after that i will follow the normal procedure to sell a van to third party, do i need to do the puspakom inspection again?

I would like to ask opinios from someone that have handle this kind of name transfer before. Thanks in advance

Ive seen this question quite a few times here and there, just thought ill do a short step by step write up to help those who needs to DIY cause runner fee's are RIDICULOUS.

1. Buyer and seller to discuss who will pay for inspection and change of ownership fee's.
-Inspection Rm30
-Change Name - Rm150

2.Seller to bring car to puspakom to complete inspection with geran/registration card. Request for form at the counter. complete inspection and collect the slip/result.
B5 - if new owner buys with cash
B5/B7 - if new owner is using hire purchase/car loan, once done provide approval slip to bank and bank will do name transfer on their side, you pay the bank rm300-400 depends on the banks...they call this transfer fee if im not mistaken.

-please remove your tint if its too dark yourself by going over to an accesory shop, they can charge between rm30-60 depends on car/place etc.. if not puspakom guys will just tear it off and leave the gum all there or just fail you.
-some are even open on saturdays for those who are busy working during weekdays. can check out their site
Puspakom Branches and Opening Hours

3.Once done, print out chang of ownership form 2 copies or go to the nearest used car dealer and get the form from them. One for buyer and one for seller. A copy of each IC, sign on the form together with right THUMBPRINT. (it is not indicated on the form which finger,so please take note). If buyer or seller are from different states, can be done via courier/post, only original is accepted.

Tukar Milik JPJ Forms

4.Proceed to JPJ for change of name request with geran and all the documents above.

For those who cant go to jpj directly:

Runner fees for inspection can range from rm80-rm150, and change name rm300. for those who dont have time, can use this services. For those who needs special request due to punched engine number, mounting modification, no approvla for sunroof etc or aka special case, you have no choice but to bare the fee's of a runner which is going to cost definitely more than Rm150 for special case. I even heard of Rm1k for this kind of situations.

Prepare your geran, photocopy of IC buyer and seller and hand over to runner. He will also need the original signed copy of the forms mentioned above.

ADDED:

For those who want, can aslo call puspakom 03-20527474 and schedule an appointment 3 days in advance to come over to your house and perform the inspection Rm100 service fee+rm30. However only certain branches can offer this services, so check at the link above or contact them.

Good thread! thumbup.gif
Sorry if these have been asked before but I got some questions:
1. How long normally is the whole process above?
2. If say you buy on cash, when should the payment be done to be safe for both parties?

Need advise urgently.

Recently, I traded in my old car to a second hand car dealer and the ownership was transferred on the spot using online system (Sistem Tukar Milik Sementara). Then, the dealer sent my old car to Puspakom for B5 inspection. The inspection result failed because the car was cut and joint.

With the failed inspection, does that mean the ownership transfer which was done using the online system earlier is not valid anymore? Is the car still under my name or under the dealer name?

The dealer kept saying the car is still under his name which doesn't make sense to me because the inspection had failed.

And the dealer wanted me to refund the money to him. I am ready to refund him provided the car is still under my name and I get back my old car and the car registration card.

Any advise is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Although I'm not 100% sure about your status right now, but I believe the car is still registered under your name and the earlier transfer has been voided since you mentioned "Sistem Tukar Milik Sementara". My best advice is that both you and your car dealer visit JPJ personally with car registration card ready and check the status with JPJ.

Expert advise is appreciated on what is the latest procedure for Voluntary vehicle Ownership transfer at JPJ recently (without runner involved)

My scenario is a direct vehicle sale to buyer with a new Hire Purchase car loan already approved.

Seller status:
1. Fully settled for existing car loan and pending e-Batal for JPJ update
2. Puspakom B5 & B7 inspection appoinment booked
3. Have printed out JPJ forms - TM3, JPJK3, and TM-AB (as buyer will not be present at JPJ) ...do I need buyer's certified true copy of I/C?
4. Once both Puspakom & JPJ transfer is done, to sign the final sales confirmation letter provided by bank and at the same time bank to inspect car for new loan purposes
5. If have outstanding AES summon (non-BlackList), must we settled before transfer procedure?

Buyer status:
- signed Hire Purchase agreement and paid deposit to bank
- to proceed sign sales comfirmation letter from bank (after buyer completed above)
- visit JPJ within 7-days to complete transfer process...
- when to buy new insurance / road tax?
- need to provide I/C copy to seller ?

Kindly advise what is the best way for the above queries. Thanks!!
