Although I'm not 100% sure about your status right now, but I believe the car is still registered under your name and the earlier transfer has been voided since you mentioned "Sistem Tukar Milik Sementara". My best advice is that both you and your car dealer visit JPJ personally with car registration card ready and check the status with JPJ.
*
I went to talk to an officer at Wangsa Maju JPJ.

Under Sistem Tukar Milik Sementara (STMS), the car is permanently registered under the second hand dealer name after 6 months if the dealer didn't manage to resell the car.

In my case, the dealer won't be able to resell it anymore because the car has been blacklisted as kereta potong. It failed Puspakom inspection.

What that means is my car is a junk now. I have to write it off as total lost. cry.gif I am a loser here.

Lessons learnt from here is when you send your accident damaged car for repair, make sure that the workshop doesn't use patch-up method/cut-and-join method. I suspect that was what the workshop did to my car 13 years ago and the method is not considered illegal back then. sad.gif

The kereta-potongmenace
Q: What is a kereta potong?
A: It is when one half of a car (front or back) is joined (welded) with another half to form a car. The halves usually come from two different cars that survived a bad accident or from imported “half-cuts” (one half of a car).

Q: How did this practice of joining two halves of a car start?

A: A few years ago, there was a lack of guidelines and it was not mandatory for inspections to be done on cars. The cars should have been considered total losses but insurance companies chose to salvage them.

Q: Why was this done?

A: To save money. The companies did not want to pay the full claims for a car that should be written off, so they gave the go ahead to “fix” the car. It is a cheaper and faster alternative to fix one half of a car to another than to fix the car’s bonnet or bumper individually.

Q: So is it harder to get away with it now?

A: Since mandatory inspections came into force in 2005, the kereta potong are being identified.

Some nice info here albeit the bad news. U mentioned earlier that the dealer has paid u the money and now he is asking for refund because of failed PUSPAKOM test. I wonder whether u can just ignore him and transfer that loss to him (although I know this is morally wrong laugh.gif ).

Has anyone tried doing Online Voluntary Ownership Transfer System or Sistem Tukar Milik Sukarela (STMSR) via MyEG?

https://1mid.myeg.com.my/1MID/faq.do

I'm about to give it a try. Mine is a simple case, car no loan, buyer & seller known to each other, Puspakom B5 done.

First speedbump is registering for 1MID. Tried looking for a 1MID kiosk and couldn't find one. Faq says available at RHB-Easy branches but the one near me didn't have one. Anyway I made an appointment last week to register 1MID. MyEG runner came today and registered both of us.

Will probably try the transfer in the next few days, just wanted to ask here if anyone here has done it before. Any tips or gotchas?

Hi bro

How was your ownership transfer? No need to go to JPJ?
How much was it?

Hi all sifu,

This is my scenario:

My car still under finance with ambank. There is a direct buyer wish to purchase my car via bank loan.

But after asking few banks, they said didnt provide finance for direct seller car which is still under loan.

So now some banker told me one of the way is ask the buyer go back to ambank to get his loan.

My question:
1) Why no bank wanted to even take his loan application?
2) if he try to loan at ambank, the same bank as my current financier, is it confirm they will accept his application (subject to approval for sure).
3) will the buyer know how much my loan amount due to ambank now.? As i wish to keep my loan balance P&C..

Plz advise .

In all of years of selling my 4 cars, I've never had car dealers calling me insistently. Maybe its because all my cars are at least 15years old laugh.gif .

But seriously, what car are you selling?, it it below market price? I couldn't image used car dealers wanting more inventory from the many conversations I've had with them..but what do I know.

Hence I have been receiving a lot dealer call even from Johor . So I wanna ask which way is the safest to sell car that won't have any legal trouble or mess in future ?

Ah, below market price sure alot of fish will bite.

I'm not clear on the change name procedure now, but I cant imagine they can change ownership (even temporary) without any official letter stating the vehicle is road worthy, sounds silly...but then again, we are living in a silly country...so anything is "boleh".

But on a serious note; https://www.myeg.com.my/faq/stms.html#q07

Looks like for Temporary Ownership Transfer System, no puspakom needed... shocking.gif looks like its time for us to return the favour to used car dealers & sell them lemons laugh.gif laugh.gif

Hi guys,
Thanks for all the advice shown here.
Was about to buy a used car with Hire Purchase using a runner.
Runner charges :-
1. Transfer fee :- RM360
2. Inspection fee :- RM200
3. Agreement fee :- RM600
4. GST : RM1000
5. Insurance : RM480

Looks like I'll save about RM2000 without using a runner.

Thanks.

Hi, got a question

I actually am going to buy a 2nd car from a sale agent, and so he told me that, once the car everything settle, inspection is done, b5 report is out, and transfer the name to me everything, the car road tax and insurance must be change to a new one, cannot use the existing one, they say it's a rule applied by JPJ, how true is this?

If your buyer used the same bank as yr current loan bank, you just need to go to the buyer branch then do a myeg thumbprint. Then you need to go yr home branch get your original grant for puspakom inspection and get B5 and B7. Then pass to buyer's branch. They will then call you to topup if buyer's loan is insufficient to settle yr loan. Then everything just wait for them to setoff your loan! biggrin.gif
