I had my first encounter with loss of Credit Card...NEARLY. I did a swipe at the toystore on Sat. Somehow with all the other loyalty cards used to collect points, my Maybankard 2 AMEX didn't follow me into my wallet.

After 15mins, I received a call from Maybankard Platinum services (Private Number) that asked me to check if I left my CC at the toystore. Opened my wallet and my Maybankard 2 AMEX is missing indeed.

Quickly ran back to the toystore to look for the manager and ....... Thank goodness I retrieve my 'precious' CC.

P.s. i believe the cashier 'forgot' to pull out the CC from the terminal, when giving me the receipts.

Consider yourself lucky. How come MBB CS managed to call you? Did the toy store inform them?

At least somebody notified and called you.

My encounter is worse than you. I left my MBB2 AMEX Gold at Tesco Extra cashier. Same as your situation whereby the cashier forgotten to pull it from the terminal and I didn't notice it as well after received the receipt. I just realized it the following day after I inspected my wallet.

Went to the customer service counter and they kept my card. They said that they did call to bank to ask the bank to give me a call instead but I didn't receive such call.

Luckily no abuse even though I did call to MBB CS to temporary barring the card.

Luck you but make sure you check your spending from time to time.
I had my Amex front page 4 digit security code sealed with hard to remove adhesive tape and saved the code in the form of phone number in my phone contacts with a fake name.
If the adhesive tape is tampered with in the above incident, I would suspend the card and request a new one.

good idea. i wanted to black off visa and master as well but worry if they say i tamper with my card.
its such a stupid thing like putting your ATM pin number on the card itself
banks dont care about security, they will bill you no matter what

I would assume the toystore called Maybankard CS line behind the card...
subsequently, MBB called me... lucky still shopping around else need to find carpark again.

I had such adhesive on the most important digits... not tampered with.
Visa, Mastercard, AMEX should remove this no. from appearing on the card.

Shouldn't you cancel your card. Your card details already compromise.

You can get few pcs of security sticker from your banker, the bank use it to seal and protect the savings passbook signatures.
Seal the whole piece at the signature side then black off the 3 digit numbers, then cut to size another sticker to seal the front side 4 digit numbers.
This sticker stick on paper permanently, there is no way to remove it. If stick on CC plastic surface, it can be peel off but not as easy as normal adhesive cellophane tape.

Well, you being a seasoned member in CC thread, I have no doubt at all that you would definitely have taken such precautionary measures. biggrin.gif

saw your latest post on MBB MC and MBB 2 AMEX overseas conversion rates, info should be of use great use to zenquix.

Must say a BIG Thank You to you for sharing the transactions for the benefit of others.

It can be observed that with MBB2 AMEX, we are paying about 3% more for the conversion. From your own point of view and with 5X TP with AMEX, which card woild you go with.

Nothing fancy. Just small round label that you can get it from stationery shop. Of course, it can be peeled off.

No problem. I also learned a lot from the sharing by others here, so similarly I hope my sharing can help to improve the knowledge for everyone.

Yup, with MBB 2 AMEX the conversion is about 2% more than MC. So that extra 2% does offset a lot of the "benefit" of the 5x TP. However, I think there is still a slight advantage with AMEX. I did one theoretical example below. Hope my calculation is correct. Any mistake please highlight to me.

Not all MBB Visa and MC points system are the same. The Premier cards have a 5x multiplier similar to AMEX cards.
And the Premier cards (both VISA and Mastercard) are not subjected to AMEX extra "fees".

Hi I need to ask something

Do I entitle for a cash back if say my transaction date is on a Saturday or Sunday?

or is it based on posting Date on when Shell charges my transaction into the system ?

e.g transaction at 7pm at Shell via Amex Sunday

is it counted as Sunday based on transaction time & date or based on when Shell charges me (posting date) ?

Look at transaction date, not posting. Posting date might affect which month the cashback will be given.

e.g. Transaction date is on a Sunday, but posting date is 1st of February. You'll get your cashback for that transaction the following month.

What do you mean by this? You mean the redemption is not the same?

When you say premier cards you mean like VI and WMC?

Yeah, their 5x TP for overseas spending is very attractive especially if their conversion fees are lower compared to Amex. But since I've got neither I can't compare.

Bro, yah, last time I compared MBB 2 AMEX to MBB 2 Visa based on info provided by members here, I also noted that AMEX do earn us more (not even considering the 5% cash back) but concluded it also means we have to pay more upfront and we only "gain" when we do redemption of treats points.

Anyway, great job by you, posted your table in Post#2.
