if that the case then I would be charged for annual fee yearly for no reason since I am not using the debit card functionality besides ordinary cash withdrawal which ordinary ATM card can already do it.. puke.gif doh.gif ranting.gif cry.gif

couldn't agree more.

for people with credit card, it's highly unlikely they would use a debit card. but is now made to pay annual fee for it. sad.gif

Then close your existing account and open a basic savings account, no annual fee will be charged under that account.

no..is the debit card that charge money, not the account..
if retain using ATM card for the account then should be no charge..
if use debit card then got charge..
now inform that the ATM card will no longer be usable soon..ask us to change to debit card..that means the fee is coming..
I hv write to ask the bank whether there is an option to retain using ATM card..let see how it goes..

No, it is based on the account type if you are using a Basic Savings Account. For the no annual fee option, you do not have to pay for the debit card at all if ATM card is no longer issued by the bank. Unless the bank still offers both ATM card & debit card and you request to convert to Debit Card, then there will be charges. If they ask you to change to debit card since they no longer issue new ATM card, then it is free. A few banks I know that do that are Maybank, Public Bank, CIMB Bank, Affin Bank & UOB.

For CIMB Bank:

http://www.cimbbank.com.my/en/personal/pre...731:clicks_ros|

It is stated on that website that ATM withdrawals via CIMB ATM card will no longer be possible.

I sent an e-mail to CIMB Customer Service. Although I have a CIMB basic saving account without annual fee, the e-mail sent by CIMB CS stated that I still need to pay RM 15.90 for the debit card. bangwall.gif

The CIMB CS is wrong. I have a CIMB Basic Savings Account with no annual fee and from the very beginning they already issued the CIMB debit MasterCard to me and I had never paid any annual fee for the debit card.

Has your debit card reached its anniversary yet? I'm very curious to know whether is the RM 15.90 chargeble under Basic Savings Account, I even closed my account with the bank immediately upon hearing rumors of this.

When I was using the account with the bank, I opted for the Non-Fee Account

For this year ? Yes. Just a few months ago. And I'm not the only one here using a non-fee CIMB Basic Savings Account with CIMB debit MasterCard and not paying any annual fee for the debit card. If my memory serves me correctly, Alexwsk is using the same account issued with CIMB debit MasterCard and he has also repeatedly confirming here that he had never paid any annual fee for his CIMB debit MasterCard.
