Let me recommend you Basic Savings Account then, if you withdraw cash from ATM less than 8 times a month. PLEASE change to it, it has no annual fees and it is also an interest bearing account.

Erm....... I would really like to say that you're wrong. Because I have a non-Islamic 'BSA' without annual fee on both CIMB and RHB and both of them gave me their Debit Mastercards.

All existing debit card are now set to expire effective next year regardless of the date printed on the card. Just get it changed since it's free.

I have, and it's been months since I did that but very few shops offer PIN transactions, still signature based. I even caught a bangla bypassing the pin on his own and he was a bit ashamed and said sorry.

Note that you can only withdraw cash with zero free with you use bank cards with these banks and when you're overseas.

Example, you can only enjoy zero fee cash withdrawal in Thailand if you use CIMB Malaysia card and withdrawing with CIMB Thai. It's not free when you withdraw money with a CIMB Card at a TMB Bank Thailand ATM

Try Citibank then.

Maybank is the only bank in Malaysia that blocks purchases from Steam, so try other banks.

No solid answer for your CIMB annual fee question but think of it this way, since they're one of the big banks in Malaysia or in ASEAN too they can rape you with whatever they want to charge you with.

Technically nobody is forcing you to pay the annual fee as well, just go and terminate your existing account and reopen a Basic Savings Account which has No annual fee.

Basically all account types except Basic Savings Account has annual fees being charged. Hurray Basic Savings Account.

You should let us know your income range first to provide you with a card.

If your income is 200,000 or more per annum I suggest Citibank Prestige.

I've called Public Bank to check on whether if we can link the card to the Basic Savings Account and we cannot do that. We can only get the card through Public Bank UnionPay savings account ONLY.

It's an annual fee of RM 8.48, for the rest, standard fee charges apply.

Eg: IBG bank transfer RM 0.11
IBFT (Instant transfer) RM 0.53
Account opening fee: RM250
Minimum balance that you need to maintain: RM 50 (highest of all compare to any other savings accounts)
MEPS Withdrawal: RM 1.06
Etc.....Etc......

Charged on the account ONLY, they cannot charge you twice. If that happens, please report to Bank Negara.

Actually the card is not new at all, has existed for a long time.

Also, not really useful as lots of merchants still don't accept American Express.

Try Public Bank, I think it's offered on Public Bank Petron Debit Card and Public Bank Visa Electron Debit Card.

Sorry but your reply to him has no relevance to this question.

Do you use it only as an ATM card or you buy stuff with the Unionpay Card?

During Jan when I spoke to CIMB Customer support, they told me that they will charge an annual fee even for Basic Savings Account so that is why I closed my CIMB account.
