and how come the spec list got PASM mode but it's not in the wheel?
Where did it state?

I read that you can still access it the conventional PASM in the menu but the knob is replaced by four positions which represent different applications of high speed stills and movie recording. The 'Motion Snapshot' mode combines a slow-motion movie with a simultaneously-recorded still image, while the 'Smart Photo Selector' mode takes 20 full-resolution images from a single shutter-button press (including some captured before the button is fully depressed), then analyses them, saving what it judges to be the best five (even recommending the very best of the bunch). There's just a single position to cover all aspects of conventional stills shooting, plus one more for movies.

if you KNOW how japanese thinks... when they build Alpha A55/Nex, thinking SMALL is good... indeed, it hit the market like storm,(after a long talk with sony insider bout the sony direction) it seem Nikon is also aiming this market, because, japanese, 80% of the camera user dont care bout spec! they care for look, that why Nex has trouble penetrating panasonic market in japan. nikon is heading this direction... but with wrong sensor =.=

so this nikon 1 will be hot cakes in japan, and maybe korea (but samsung is damn strong in korea), taiwan and hk.... but the rest of the world,.. they will cry sad.gif

a friend played with it(ehem)... it IS Fast with the new Expeed... really responsive vs nex!

How does the shutter lifespan for mirrorless counted or works?
Does the 60fps or the "1200fps" thing actually affect shutter counts?

i think the only way to know whether the nikon 1 are a successful system or not is to see the sales of these cameras.

well, it all boils down to sales right? no matter how good a particular camera is, if it's not selling, it's a bad camera. on the other hand, no matter how bad a camera is, if it's selling (like hot cakes) then it is a fantastic camera.

someone on nikonrumors stated that nikon is trying to create a inikon product. ipod, ipad etc nonsense. i hope he is wrong. i hate how apple are catering to the mass (i still can't forgive them for taking out the PCM slot from the macbook pro 15 inches model) and put a SD card slot.

In a business perspective and since these are interchangeable lens.. I'm guessing that Nikon's thinking..

- Smartphone eventually telan the compact market
= ILC to replace compacts eventually
= Average selling price will fall when market saturated
= More average joe user who don't know/ don't care joins the target market.
= Since they're introducing a system, can't change systems every other day else ppl bengang
= small sensor
= most cost effective since smaller/potentially smaller everything including sensor, lens, material when profits fall
= 1Nikon.

What do you think?

you explained to them , they still blur blur wan.

so i assume its targeting casual people who wants simply take picture only.

one reason for getting the V1 / J1 is so can mount current AF-S lenses and maintain full AF in a smaller body.
and then 70-200 will become 189-540 f/2.8 drool.gif

no need to buy any of the V1 / J1 lenses except for the 10mm 2.8 tongue.gif
