QUOTE(soonwai @ Apr 1 2016, 12:27 AM)
I think that's about the same wifi speed I get from my 2010 MBP on 5GHz N copying files from my Mac. I'm using a DLink DAP-1665 AP for my 5GHz N and AC needs.

I'm using Namecheap's DDNS too. I have a script for my Mikrotik that updates Namecheap every time the IP changes and emails me when that happens. As it turns out, it's also good for letting me know when TNB has restored electricity after a blackout or when Unifi comes back from an outage. Mikrotik has its own free DDNS but the domain name is unwieldy. It's like 113305ab2349.sn.mynetname.net but it's free and effortless to setup, just one or maybe 2 clicks. Having 2 DDNS is always good in case one of them is down or isn't updated for whatever reason.

25mbps for the Mate 8 is definitely not good. I get consistent 30mbps on my iPhone 6S on 2.4 or 5Ghz N or AC. No jokes about my UniFi *Advance* 30 please.

Bro do u mind sharing the script?

Which Router OS version are you using now?

Thank You :-)

That's a really cool feature! Would love to have that. Was thinking of buying the TP-Link Archer C7, now I'm thinking maybe should go for the Microtik again.

Sure, script pasted below. I'm currently on 6.34.2 on my RB2011UAS-2HnD. bro, are you still selling Mikrotik or more into services/solutions?

You probably don't remember me but I bought my first Mikrotik from you. It was an RB750G.

Save money and use your DLink lah, if not just jump in and go for Mikrotik. But seriously I'd wait a bit to see what's coming in the near future. I'm looking for reports on performance & stability on the hAP AC, RB3011, RB850Gx2. Because at 500mbps and if you intend to play around with the router, you'll need some extra cpu.

Script below. Originally taken from the Mikrotik wiki for another ddns provider and then modified a little bit for Namecheap.

Just change the globals to yours. A few things are hardcoded: pppoe interface name, email address & smtp server. There's no error checking if the ddns update fails or sending email encounters an error. So you just schedule this script to run every few seconds or few minutes as you please.

The spectral scan waterfall display is also useful for pretending to be the sonar operator in a hunter killer sub.

That strong green line on the right is Maxis' LTE band 7 or something, I forgot.

LOL, sorry, don't mean to but I never knew that routers could be so much fun.

I'm currently testing the RB941-2nD (hAP Lite), this little thing is pretty good. The WiFi is actually not bad. And it's so damn cheap. It works great as a router for UniFi 30 and 50. Should be OK for 100mbps maybe. The low 32mb ram is a bit of a prob but more than enough for normal users. 10.6 mb free after boot, router says enough for 23000 connections.

I'm currently testing of 2 of these as wired APs in place of 1 RB951Ui-2HnD. They're cheaper and will probably provide better coverage and reception. I'm always in favour of more lower power APs instead of 1 strong one where possible. We'll see.

thats why nano cell towers are increasing smile.gif

so 1 high powered or many small lower powered = lower or higher RF radiation ?

Is it possible to use HTTPS for hotspot login with OpenSSL certificates and not having certificate issues when browsing to HSTS sites?

I guess it should be much lower if I'm calculating correctly. I'm using RB941-2nD aka hAP Lite. Specs has it at 22dBm max transmit power, 2 of these total only 25dBm. Even if I have 6, they're still below the 1000mW max of the RB951Ui-2HnD. And this is assuming they're transmitting at max power, in actual use I think it will be probably lower.

Reception will definitely be better since 2 x hAP Lite will have a total of 4 antennas which can be placed strategically to cover more of the area.

RouterOS 6.35 is out.

Long change log but notably pppoe fastpath support and wireless-rep package.

Upgraded on RB2011UAS-2HnD so far OK.

Why don't they just use the RB951 as the AP? But pay extra for the UAP?

Current models Mikrotik wifi seems to be quite OK though I did complain incessantly about the RB751G-2HnD on the mikrotik forums a few years ago. UAPs are good too especially features like zero handoff.

In this case, just wondering why they didn't go with say a RB750GL + the UAP, cheaper right?

btw, default login on the UAP is ubnt/ubnt. You think I should flash it with a random jpg from my HD? smile.gif

the ubnt zero handoff which I dislike is need to use same channel (its minor, there a lot advantages of it).
its time to use netinstall to install 6.35 wireless-rep package (I'm in mode super lazy whistling.gif )

Crap, just realised I shouldn't use the RB951 itself run the bandwidth test. No wonder the throughput is so low. The bandwidth test bottleneck by the RB951 CPU & because it go through the input chain instead of the forward chain for the fastpath requirement. And after testing from PC > RB951 > Xeon, I actually get 880Mbps DL/UL on 6.35RC42!!! That means they do enable the PPPoE offloading on specific condition. On 6.34.3 it just about 285Mbps DL /  270Mbps UL. But once the PPPoE encryption enabled, it drops to mere 100Mbps.
*
jio, do you remember when you tested this and got 880mbps, was your ether2 (or which ever port you used) in a bridge?

Guys,

Can anyone help me setting up LAG for my RB2011 and Synology DS1512+?

I tried bond the interface but it says the ether that I wanted to bond already in the bridge. Then I'm stuck not sure where to begin.

ether1=from 1st floor
ether2=nas#ether1
ether3=nas#ether2
ether4=tv room router
ether5=study room router
ether6=free
ether7=cctv
ether8=free
ether9=free
ether10=alarm

My goal is to have link aggregation between my NAS and router. Help is appreciated.

THanks.

I think you need to remove ether2 and ether3 from bridge-local also make sure they don't have master port set. After bonding you'll have a new interface which you can add back to your bridge. Warning: I could be wrong, I haven't tried link bonding before.

any mikrotik vendor here?

Looking for robust AP solution for internal & external guest users (hotspots service).

Best to have ldap integration, else radius oso can do.

A simple n reliable AP will do.

Thanks.
