QUOTE(soonwai @ Apr 19 2016, 12:21 AM) I think you need to remove ether2 and ether3 from bridge-local also make sure they don't have master port set. After bonding you'll have a new interface which you can add back to your bridge. Warning: I could be wrong, I haven't tried link bonding before. Thanks, but just realized I do not have dual LAN for teaming from my PC to the switch so using LAG is useless, at least with my current network configuration.

Guys.. I'm quite interested with mikrotik routers. How is the performance( in terms of wifi range/speed and stability) compared to other router within rm500 range? I have no problems with learning on how to configure it as there are plenty support and guide around here. Using unifi 50mbps.
Thanks guys.

In my sig, you'll find a speedtest that I did around my house with the RB2011. Overall I'm quite happy with the wifi performance. In terms of transmit power, the -2HnD models are definitely the strongest among routers of its price range but transmit power isn't everything. Layout of the house and construction materials will have an effect too. My house is hollow red bricks, results would probably be worse if it was made of concrete bricks. While I'm using a single RB2011 to cover my whole house, I'm usually in favor of multiple wired APs. The RB941-2nD is perfect for this due to its low cost.

Hi, Am looking for a unifi modem/router.
Should I take the RB750Gr2 to handle 10-20 wireless device via AP and 1 connection from another internal router.
OR MikroTik RB2011UiAS-RM/RB2011iLS-IN to handle 10-20 wireless device and another 25-30 PC.
Thanks.

OR MikroTik RB2011UiAS-RM/RB2011iLS-IN to handle 10-20 wireless device and another 25-30 PC. Thanks. No problem, RB750Gr2 can handle much more than that. This is one handling 90-110 users on Unifi 20MB. About 30% wired and the rest on wifi spread over 6 Mikrotik APs in a 5 storey building. Depending on where you're locating your router - will it be in a server room (aka store room)? I'd probably split up the router and the APs. Routing performance of RB750Gr2 is slightly better than RB2011. The network above is basically RB750Gr2 to 24port switch to the rest of the building. Very straightforward. Thank you for the info. Will take you advice, play around and see how it goes.
original setup BTU>>tp link 1043nd>>zywall usg (firewall & router)>> 2 AP(own subnet), 2 LAN(2 subnet).
Did try 1 of the AP direct to tplink 1043nd at some point it crashes the 1043nd(10-15 user on DHCP).
The zywall usg will be my next item to be replace.

Is it any good at blocking encrypted bittorrent? Currently I'm not using any firewall other than a rudimentary one on the RB750Gr2. Soon, maybe next week, I'll be putting in 2 VLANs, one for staff and one for guests and also trying out CAPSMAN which is Mikrotik's centralised AP manager. First time using CAPSMAN, should be interesting to see how it goes.

The Zywall was setup by vendor. it come with antivirus, Intrusion Detection and Prevention, content filter but have to subscribe after 2 yrs. blocking encrypted bittorrent, have not try that. But I think not possible as you do not know what is in it. only way is to limit the bandwidth to slow them down. Sorry for my limited knowledge.

Getting Started

|
Hi guys, I have a RB951Ui from Cloudstore. I'm been getting very low overall ccq (around 30) lately over wifi at night which means very slow and unstable. LAN works completely fine in pushing my full 30mbps unifi speed. Tried to change tx power to 17dbm instead of default, the problem still there. Tried to change to only 20mhz, problem still there. Is there any more things that I can try to change? Or am I having a faulty unit?
A couple of notes: 1.I followed exactly how to setup unifi through mikrotik.com.my. 2.My password is wpa/wpa2 psk with aes ccm. 3.Condo. Top floor (29th). 4.It usually happens at night. 5.Signal is completely full bar from the 2nd floor of my unit. (Router on the wall of 1st floor).
No suggestion of changing router. That's my last resort. I'll be very grateful if there is anyone that can help me.

I heard that RouterBoardOS comes with RADIUS. Anyone had tried to setup before? I might look to purchase Mikrotik router one because I'm not familiar with Unix/Linux but I want to setup RADIUS on my network.

are there any QoS sample rules which I could refer to assign fixed external bandwidth for a specific client/ destination subnet ?

QUOTE(abubin @ Jun 3 2016, 03:25 PM) when is hap ac lite going to arrive in malaysia? Waiting for soooooooo long I was at Landasan, one of the distros, just the other day. Still no SIRIM certification yet. They optimistically estimate August for any of the AC stuff. Dunno why so slow. I'm waiting too.

You can order it from oversea if you willing to take risk. If the total value of your order is under MYR500, it is usually fine. I had my hap ac for almost 4 months now.

I might look to purchase Mikrotik router one because I'm not familiar with Unix/Linux but I want to setup RADIUS on my network. There's a package called Usermanager which is a basic Radius server. http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:User_ManagerQuite easy to setup and use. Wifi router usually OK as long as the total cost + shipping is below myr500 & for your own personal use. Anything more be taxed or require SIRIM, unless you bought & shipped from Amazon, which I did for Asus routers. But anything related to telephony including fax modem will very likely to be stopped for SIRIM approval. Even dumb wired headset get stopped just because it had words telephony in the description. Warranty wise is not really a concern for me as the defects rate is much lower than the cost difference. Anyway Mikrotik warranty & support is really meh. I had issues with one of my rb2011uas-rm related to routerboot (likely caused by nand issue), not only I couldn't get replacement due to "it works with the older routerboot it was shipped with", it took about 2 months for Mikrotik to reply to my support case just because "they could not replicate the issues". And most of the time you won't even aware of the defects such as this until months later. Anyway I bought mine from eurodk for testing purpose.

Won't a Wifi router run a good risk of requiring SIRIM since it has a radio in it? Will definitely check out eurodk. Have you ever looked at ordering form Indonesia? Since they're much closer, shipping might be cheaper? Mikrotik seems to be quite popular there.

I never order from Indonesia before but I did order something from Singapore few years back when local distributors having no stock on the model I wanted, with the total cost more or less the same. Anyway I bought from eurodk because not many online store had hAP AC back then. Their price is quite competitive even with shipping cost included, probably due to they're from Latvia as well like Mikrotik.
