Another defensive play is to sell it at minor profit / break-even / minor losses and later when trend reverse only buy back.

let's turn the stock forum into a chatroom while the losers buy high, before they know it, we are going to snipe the bear instead. 40% more discount to go, countdown begins now.

How good will it be if Ben will just inform everyone in the world

Market is bad, just sell all your stock now. Yes, we are in recession. Nothing is moving, and bank is defaulting for sure.
Greece is going to default, and Greece bank is going to get hard hit.

Die to market, market will collapse in a serious manner now.

This forum can be used to gauge the market. Previously, Cherroy (if I am not mistaken), mentioned that history is repeating itself when Ace counters become hot topic in this forum.

More and more forumers reporting holding little shares = ??

Anyone can complete the equation?

Edited:

Ace market become hot topic = market top

More newbie forumers = market top

Can lower cut losses %, say 5%-7%.

Cannot be buy 10/10 stocks also a loser stocks kua biggrin.gif

Cut-losses has 'saved' me and my capital nod.gif

If I didn't cut losses quick, much capital trap inside now. But if cut losses, we can protect the capital first and after the storm has faded, then can buy back lower later.

But if losses too deep say 20% or more, then I guess no point cutting lioa.

Talk is easy, real trade and practically time, thing is always not happening as your script one.

Take for eg.
Sime.
in 3 trading day, plunged more than 10% already. How?

5-7% is very easy to achieve one, one may forever cut loss, cut loss, until cut everything. laugh.gif

Some may say, don't play in bear market.
But when you know it is a bull market time, often it is too late.

Every technical rebound can mean a baby bull trend is born.

No one know it is an uptrend or technical rebound, until it is too late.

For eg. recently,
DJ has a nice surge from below 11000, to 11500, it is a uptrend, or start of uptrend?
or it is a technical rebound, before dipping back or even lower?

You want to see you a stock price which is RM2.00, but you bought at RM0.80 or even lower, then it is only achievable when you bought the stock in a bear market.

How people can buy PBB at RM0.88?
How people can buy Genting during 2008 at RM3.xx or Rm4.xx?

All comes from a down trend market, bear market.

True, not easy to 'see' the TRUE reversal sign. Perhaps can use Bone's tactic, enter by stages using KLCI as benchmark.

One sifu say if use 200 SMA, might not have much meat when go it but its signal is stronger.

50days and 100days SMA crossing over signal is weaker but more meat.

I practice cut lost as well. It was when the market was sideway before the recent selldown. I did it early and it saved my capital plus profit.

I got 10% in stock only. It was bought recently. My play is to average down on these stocks real slowly. Therefore, I am buying in downtrend SLOWLY.

sry to hear that bro.. mind sharing what are the counters ?
my biggest losers are KianJoo and Fajar.. sad.gif
*
The biggest lost being Bursa-CT
should have cut it early
thought that market might rebound in few months time
the expiry date is January next year
now almost wiped out
Again is issued by CIMB, like Affin-CD vmad.gif
A lesson well learnt doh.gif

Second big lost is SPSetia-WB
Close to 50%
but I'm not to worried on this counter as their fundamental is strong
It earned me handsome profits previously
Another 1 year+ to go before the expiry

Basically my main losses are from warrants
share wise average loss is 10%

bro cherroy.. I'm bottom fishing also... so when the sifu said like that, I become scared because it seems my tactic of bottom fishing is wrong...

anyway, hopefully you're right...

Bottom fishing only right, if you fish the right fish or right fish pond, aka your targeted stock is right (fundamental good, solid) in the first place.

Bottom fishing can lead one lose pant one, if you fish at rubbish pond.

In a stock market exchange, you can have 1000 stocks, but the right fish can mean just a couple of ten or hundred stocks only.

mudajya with better earnings dropped 34%, fajar with much lower profit last qtr on the other hand only dropped 24%.

Cause they are cyclical stocks mah.

Most IBs were heavily promoting O&G, construction, property (all cyclical) a couple of months back cause of ETF. Now these sectors are the hardest hit.

The non-cyclicals, so-called defensives like JTI, DLady, etc will also drop by big % eventually ........ just that the cyclical stocks always get hit first.

Greece default, never mind, bond holder lose out only.

Who are the bond holders?
Banks.
Banks losing big money, and affect its liquidity and credibility and confidence is the biggest nightmare of economy.

Now, you see why I said before, we are seeing the disadvantage of globalisation, everything become inter-related.
US banks can lend money to European banks. Money can be transferred from Euro to US and vice versa with a click of mouse.
Globalisation, means you die, I also suffer, everyone is inter-related.
Somebody did wrong thing, but you still need to bare the consequence, just the degree more and less.

See how US QE1+2 aftermath, Asian countries across generally are struggling to contain the inflation pressure?
Asian countries did nothing wrong, they are not venturing into RE bubble, they are not venturing into risky derivatives, exotic derivatives, they just work hard and save enough money for themselves. But we see foods price sky-rocketing, house price shoot to the moon, and many ordinary worker class are not able, even servicing a loan.

If not globalisation, it is your matter, the degree of affect is not as great now.

Don't get me wrong, I am not against globalisation, it has vast advantage, but it is not flawless.

Don't get me wrong, I am not against globalisation, it has vast advantage, but it is not flawless.

Well, it is nice to see KLCI rallied from 900+ to 1500+, thanks to QE1+2. biggrin.gif Those who makes money and over-leverage will die, but those who make money and keep will survive.. nod.gif

I think Greece defaulting is just a matter of time. Germany already prepares for it, LKY already said something about it. Then the rest of the news we read, are just like lips service to buy time only for dunno what or who.. The question is whether this Greece defaults will cause even greater effect across the world or specifically US. If it does, then a prolong recession is a sure thing.. If it can be contained within Euro countries, then the effect will go away quicker.

One thing I don't understand is why FF keep on selling down KLCI and Asia? Euro is sick at the moment, and US is in bad shape still. Where the money can go?? There are literally trillions of dollars floating around after QE... Cannot be everything inject into gold.. hmm.gif

I pondered that question before. they could use the money to create more jobs for us citizen or invest in the economy. Since it's a bear market, I don't intend to buy anything yet, just sit back and watch how us and europe performs within the next two months. just observe the unemployment rate, earning growth, debt settlement/default, and other market data, and finally watch out for any sign of bull. oh boy can't wait. this bear makes me bored, cannot even short as the volume is low and thus not liquidable.

Yeah, we shall see.

Market place is filled with surprises.
When u look at North, it goes South.
When u look at South, it goes North.
Sometimes when u look at South, it goes all the way to the South Pole n exceed ur expectation.
While u still look at South wonder where it goes, actually it's at ur back and stab u from the back.

I remember some forummers say this before. Watch out, your wish may come true. It might reach the stage where you wish you never made that wish. whistling.gif

There are plenty of cash sitting at sideline.

Just ask back yourself a quesiton.
When you know, market may turn ugly, may go down further due to potential defaulting happening, what will you do as fund managers?
1. Sell a portion and keep in cash.
2. Lock in profit (there are plenty of profit can be locked in for a lot of people).
3. Reduce exposure.

Do you know, money can evaporise when market goes down?
Trillions of money in paper suddenly disappear in the thin air.
Lot of money flock to treasuries, ain't we see 10 years plummeting to below 2%, from 3.x%?

If US and Euro economy turn ugly, Asia or Malaysia won't spare from it.
Just degree of effect is more and less.
See how GDP growth slowdown across Asia, when US and Europe start to register stalling growth figure.

We can gauge the strong dip by tracking the ADX movement. Since it is still staying below 25, the CI has actually not shown any sign of strong trend yet. Now it is considered sideway movement. If it begins upward and approaches 50, then the trend will rally downward if and only if DI+ follows downward movement.
Alex said that ADX is the last indicator left that has not flagged as a warning. Meaning all other indicators including SMA,EMA,MACD,RSI have shown their downward bias.

thumbup.gif Some news for all....

Overview/Top Headlines

- At the market open EUR/USD open down over 80 pips from Friday close after EU Finance Ministers failed to emerge with a solid proposal on Friday and reports surfaced over the weekend saying that the EU had warned Greece that the next aid tranche is at risk if Greece does not take further steps. Greece PM Papandreou cancelled his trip to the UN and is holding a cabinet meeting today to consider additional austerity steps for continued international bailout funds. USD gained about 80 pips against the Swiss Franc and almost 120 pips against the A$. Asian equity markets had a day of steady losses on the renewed risk aversion and the fresh wave of concern over Europe’s inability to find a concrete solution for debt issues. Gold traded up, front month silver decoupled falling 0.4% in the session.

- Former Vice PBoC Gov Wu Xiaoling said China economy will cool at quicker pace in 2012 because of EU sovereign debt crisis, slower global recovery and property tightening measures. “Currently, China’s economy faces inflationary pressures as well as pressures on government debt, which means we cannot go down the road of expanding both credit and fiscal spending.” Chinese press speculated that non-performing loans for China banks may rise as much as 5% in 2011. China reported August new home prices, showing in increase in all 70 cities measured, up from 68 in July. Shanghai Aug new home prices +2.8% y/y, +2.5% m/m; Existing Home prices +3.7% y/y. Beijing Aug new home prices +1.9% y/y, flat m/m; Existing home prices +1.9% y/y.

- Japan Econ Min Furukawa said the Government will announce interim plans to deal with strong Yen early this week. Support for companies struggling with strong Yen and low-interest loans to small and medium sized companies expected to be part of the measures.

- German Chancellor Merkel’s CDU party defeated by centre-left opposition Social Democrats in Berlin State Elections, a small increase in support compared to last election in 2006. Merkel’s CDU won 23.4%, a gain in comparison to the 21.3% five years ago (in the 1980s the part usually secured 40%+ of the vote).

Asian stocks and U.S. equity-index futures dropped, while the euro weakened for a third day after Italy’s credit rating was lowered at Standard & Poor’s, fueling concern Europe’s sovereign-debt crisis will worsen.
The MSCI Asia Pacific Index slipped 1.1 percent as of 9:24 a.m. in Tokyo. Standard & Poor’s 500 Index futures retreated 0.8 percent. Europe’s shared currency dropped 0.4 percent to $1.3627 and slid 0.4 percent to 104.45 yen. The Australian dollar weakened before the release of minutes from the central bank’s last policy meeting. Oil and copper retreated for a third day, while wheat climbed for the first time in four days.
Italy was lowered to A from A+ on concern that weaker growth and a “fragile” government mean the country won’t be able to reduce the euro-region’s second-largest debt load, S&P said. Greece will hold another call tonight with its main creditors after a “productive” round of talks aimed at staving off default. The U.S. Federal Reserve will start a two-day meeting today amid data forecast to show that housing starts and building permits declined.

My auntie told me got subprime cumming in 2012 because many highend condos get their keys from developers and have to start service their loans.

Coupled with crisis in Europe, another monetary easing by BNM and round of inflation?

I think I want to convert my money into singapore dollar already.

thumbup.gif thumbup.gif Economic news – Of tightropes and safety nets

The 2012 Budget which will be presented on 7 Oct is all about keeping the economy going
given the acute external uncertainties. The budget measures will build on the foundations
of the Government Transformation Programme (GTP) and Economic Transformation
Programme (ETP) as well as strategic reform initiatives to enhance Malaysia’s
competitiveness.
Investors and consumers can look forward to a “friendly” budget that will
stimulate economic growth in the private sector. Generally, the budget is unlikely to deliver
major negative surprises. We also expect targeted “safety net” measures to ease the
burden of the rising cost of living on low- and middle-income households. The Budget
should sustain fiscal support while reducing the budget deficit from an estimated 5.4% of
GDP in 2011 to around 5.0% in 2012.

If you are using OSK188 portal, just click on the "News" tab and you will be able to check substantial shareholders disposing or acquiring shares. As for number of shareholdings, refer to "Database" tab.

It's not a sure thing that Greece will default but they are trying the 'impossible' to not default if they continue to live on Euro dollar. The austerity measure is not practical in the long run and it wont be enough to payback anything including interests. Global slowdown, high unemployment, social unrest and lack of political will only make things worse.
Greece can stay in the EU but use their own currency, just like Poland and other EU members.
They can survive until Jan 2012 IFF they get the next tranche of 8B Euro bail out money. There'll be a meeting on Oct 3rd to decide on that money IIRC.
If i'm not wrong, Greece has done close to nothing since the Austerity bill was passed. tongue.gif

My holdings that didn't drop much instead gain is BERNAS, TM, MAXIS (mantain), CMMT and SUNREIT.

Worst affected is SPSETIA for the past weeks and YTLPOWR which is going downhill since early of the year. Genting paper lose is near to 6% at the moment with my ABP at 10.04.

Thankfully I have took profit on SUPERMX 7 weeks ago when it was trading at 3.74.

In this complicated financial/economics worlds it's the game play by the super duper cash rich financialsinstitutions maybe they will pass the 8B in return they will have few more months to strategize their move to earn even more than 8B, this is very possible if not y they still wanna bail them out since they know they cannot bail them forever? Now is greece only, who knows italy was next? Follow by portugal? Yeah cash is always the king but our cash is no match them only one country can come out and said they are cash rich! It's China smile.gif between investor and trader there is a lots different roles play. Y I talk rubbish in this boring market, I shud be in silent mode mah. Hibernating now smile.gif

icon_rolleyes.gif KUALA LUMPUR: The 1Malaysia email project, which has drawn public outcry when it was announced in April, is in service.

The project was launched via Facebook last Wednesday, according to Performance Management and Delivery Unit (Pemandu) director of communications content and infrastructure, business services National Key Economic Area (NKEA), Dr Fadhlullah Suhaimi Abdul Malek.

It already has 3,050 subscriber signed up for the free email service.

This project is perceived to be the lifesaver for ACE Market-listed Tricubes Bhd, which has been categorised as Guidance Note 3 (GN3) and is due to submit its regularisation plan by the end of next month.

In its regular update to Bursa Malaysia, the IT-based company said it is currently reviewing “various options to meet its obligations under GN3 with its sponsor and targets to submit its regularisation plan by the submission deadline.

According to Fadhlullah, the project has been delayed because Tricubes has worked in parallel to provide “value-added services”. He disclosed that people who subscribed to the email service would also have a means of utilising their value-added services such as bill payments.

“Tricubes has assured me that it will be holding a media session sometime in late September,” Fadhlullah told The Edge Financial Daily, saying that he had been briefed on the progress of the project last week.

“They are moving not as fast as one would want them to, but they are moving. And every single ringgit put into this project is their own money,” he stressed.

To recap, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak announced that Tricubes was awarded the 1Malaysia email project in April. The project has been labelled as being under the purview of the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP). The email project could generate a gross national income of RM39 million by 2015 by Tricubes’ RM50 million investment over the next 10 years.

Tricubes CEO Khairun Zainal Mokhtar earlier said the 1Malaysia email project was a “lifeline” thrown to the company. The project will be the core part of Tricubes’ regularisation plan.

The company has targeted about 5.4 million subscribers by year-end. The government has set a KPI (key performance indicator) of a 50% take-up rate for those above 18 years old by 2012 and 100% by 2015.

The 1Malaysia email address will then be the digital channel for the government-linked organisations to communicate with the public.

There are no charges for the public to open an email account. The proposed business model is to charge the government bodies that want to send their correspondence to the 1Malaysia email addresses. The charges are up to 50 sen every mail being sent.

However, Khairun did not respond to The Edge Financial Daily’s enquires on the updates on the company’s regularisation plan and which government-linked organisations that Tricubes is currently in talks with for the deployment of its email service.

Dr Fadhlullah said the unique selling proposition here, which seems to have been overlooked by all the local pundits, is that the myemail will have a validated database. “When you use one of the free email services such as Gmail or Yahoo, there is no way of knowing that you are who you say you are. With this service, you have been verified. And what’s more, it’s still free.”

Commenting on the controversy that has surrounded this project since it was launched, Fadhlullah said it is up to Tricubes to do a better job in clarifying the situation.

“I told him (Khairun) that now it’s up on Facebook, he has to be ready for people commenting on it, and needs to respond as quickly as possible. We said, don’t wait till the end of the day because negativity could have built up by then.”

Tricubes’ 70%-owned unit TricubesNCR JV Sdn Bhd has recently bagged a one-year RM4.4 million contract from the Ministry of Home Affairs in relation to a project for the Malaysian police.

The company expects the contract to start contributing in FY12 ending March 31.

Tricubes incurred a net loss of RM1.19 million or 0.89 sen per share for 1QFY12 ended June 30 compared with RM485,000 or 0.34 loss per share in the previous corresponding period.

Ringgit down on Europe debt crisis impact fears

By CHOONG EN HAN

PETALING JAYA: The ringgit slumped to its lowest range against the US dollar this year, as a combination of external headwinds in the eurozone and the United States continue to weigh in on Asian currencies across the board.

The ringgit weakened 1.09% to 3.1157 against the US dollar from 3.0820 last Friday as investors fled emerging markets on fears that the contagion risk of Europe's sovereign debt crisis might slow global economic growth and hurt the economies of export-based developing countries. The local unit had lost 1.98% of its value from a week ago.

Regional currencies were broadly lower with the rupiah leading the pack, with a 1.02% decline. Similarly, it was 2.58% higher a week ago.

Hong Kong-based Societe Generale fixed-income strategist Chong Wee-Khoon said Asian currencies continued their weakening move against the US dollar yesterday on concerns over global uncertainty and capital flights out of Asia.

“The weakening move started last week when the contagion fears finally spread to the Asia foreign exchange and local bonds market. Previously, the equity outflows seen in Asian had been recycled back into Asia bonds and foreign exchange. Such move (weak Asia foreign exchange) might continue as long as global uncertainty persist,” he said.

All eyes would be on the next Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting later this week, he said, adding that the near-term outlook was bearish for Asian currencies.

The two-day extraordinary FOMC meeting would be the most important event of the week as the Fed decides on the direction of the US monetary policy amid a staggering global economy that is slowly moving into stagnation.

“The ringgit has moved from 2.96 in early September, broken 200-day moving average at 3.03 and spiked to 3.11 in the last two weeks. The risk is for the ringgit to test previous highs of 3.16. Longer term, we like the ringgit on domestic fundamentals, but it is hard to fight the near-term upside move driven by lack of market confidence rather than a deterioration of Asian economies,” Chong said.

However, he said, the contagion had started a while ago in the equity markets but the local bond market had been relatively immune as investors sought yield enhancement and also the benefit of currency appreciation.

“With uncertainty accelerated in recent weeks, the markets have taken profit for fear to be the last one out,” he said.

According to Chong, the five-year MGS yield on Friday had gone from 3.19% to 3.48% in one week, and the spread between the five-year MGS and US Treasuries was now at 260 basis points (MGS 260bp higher) and it was the highest since March 2009 (317bp recorded).

He said there had been a sell-down in the Indonesia and Thai bond markets as well.

CIMB currency strategist Suresh Kumar Ramanathan said the external factors had stepped up the global risk aversion and the moves of central banks closely mirrored what had happened back in 2008.

“In the past two weeks, the markets still believed that there was still growth in the emerging markets. However, things have not been improving and external headwinds are eroding confidence,” he said.

He said the concern was still on mature developed money markets where their central banks were closer to easing monetary policy to boost liquidity, and the next action of easing rates.

Meanwhile, Tan Chee Wee, head of fixed-income research at Maybank Investment Bank Bhd, said there had been three days of sell-off in the bond market last week.

“I would say it is more of profit taking rather than economic worries as there have been three months of rally and the yield is already looking flat,” he said, adding that the sell-off was more towards domestic players relinquishing their positions, and while there were foreign players selling, there were also foreign players buying.

According to the detail of the offer, the HK comp acquired 1,686,000 unit of shares only. But 7,716,900 unit of shares(from the buying up perspective) has been transacted. Does it means when other ppl saw the shares are being bought in big lots and they followed and the 6mil unit of shares are bought by the public? hmm.gif

Glomac Q should out soon, maybe tomoro like follow last year's date. Seems like everyday got shares added into treasuries. Might be good to put it into watch-list first since sifus say no to property stock during this period.

Actually it's quite simple. Before you started investing stock market, what made you want to invest instead of buying Macbook.
I believe most of us think...ok

1. Buy Macbook. Let's say Rm 8k. After 4-5 yrs, model obsoleted. Your hand gatal and want to change a new one. Sell as 2nd hand if u r lucky at Rm1k. You
lost Rm7k.

2. Buy stock. U hv Rm8k. U got lucky, price increase. Ur Rm8k might increase to Rm16k. Yahoo. Worst case scenario, market drop like now. U lost 50%
capital, left only Rm4k. U r swearing that u shud hv bought Macbook but u still hv Rm4k.

So...Investing in stock, at least u hv chance to win. Buy Macbook, sure rugi tongue.gif

We invest because we hope our money will grow.

I got a win-win solution.

Use 2k to buy Dell, good enough to use.

The rest 6k buying 6% dividend stocks.

moppy, nowadays I avoid counter with bonus issues. sad.gif

Which is also part of the reason why I sold Mflour, no doubt it is an essential thing in our daily life, but I hate seeing the price being beaten down due to post-BI syndrome.

I bet those who bought Paramon before the bonus issue would agree with me.

have to price in all the Europe, US, circus show la...
FA wise, Sunway is ok.

Although there's no divvy policy, but i believe there should be at least 2%/3% from him.. (a bit chinaman style) laugh.gif
Jeff shared his experience and what he'd been through since he started his mining company during Suncity AGM. He sounds like a genuine businessman to me. (hope he is not a wolf in sheep skin.. laugh.gif)
Currently, Jeff holds > 45% of Sunway shares, Singapore GIC another 12.5%.. together already 57.5%. He bought more from open mkt recently instead of disposing.
All these little factors gave me confidence and I decided to hold..

anything good or bad to share ?

*
you have not experience the worse matter when SunCity having financial difficulties during 97/98, my parent are proud holding it from 90's till now

Like Pana signature, be patient biggrin.gif

p/s : did Jeff share his experience how Singapore GIC help him? i'm sure he did mention about it

The recent article interview in SinChew last few weeks, during 97/98, his company facing financial difficulties and search for white knight to rescue him. He knock the door of EPF and Khazanah but they decline to help him. End up Singaporean is the one who help him sail through

moppy, nowadays I avoid counter with bonus issues. sad.gif

Which is also part of the reason why I sold Mflour, no doubt it is an essential thing in our daily life, but I hate seeing the price being beaten down due to post-BI syndrome.

I bet those who bought Paramon before the bonus issue would agree with me.
*
I don't really agree with this. Those suffer high price is because they buy after the BI announced, else you should be making plenty of money at least, especially for those 1:1 bonus. Usually about 100% profit if sell the BI + original shares.

What I mean is, they could be trying to trick the ikan bilis into thinking that there is strong support at 1.12, when in fact it is themselves buying their own shares.

correct. just that since buying rate is about 80%, so they need to push it up further (at least a bit) in order to make profit in later days.
anyway, i'm just discussing here, not a buy recommendation. i really hate the big liar management of masterskills.

german reacts strongly on the upside despite Italy's rating being downgraded by S&P this morning. cannot be this reason. I think they are expecting an outcome from the two-days meeting. They just lost confident on the German's Chancellor. Market is eyeing on US again.

I am surprised at the IQ of journalists writing such reports and people who believe them...

1. If you read the article - this lady who got PR .. was allegedly told that PR is gifted and she should vote for ruling party ... now .. PR's are not eligible to vote ..

2. This was supposedly an email exchange interview - wow .. shocking .. as I know that interviews are not conducted via email and even if so .. how can the lady forget any details when this was captured in email ..

3. On the Bangladesh article - that is the height of being ridiculous - three main points that this is a planted story:

a. The English sentences written seem to have been written by someone who did not have time to construct proper English sentences
b. This is an NGO website which has no news reports on the whole website, let alone such a news item
c. Lastly, if you try to find the news through the main page of the website - you simply can't.

Next time please verify before believing such rubbish.

I grew up in a small kampung when I was a small kid.
I did see unbelieveable thing about our goment voting trick.

If I tell this story with my broken English. Will it become just a fiction? tongue.gif

Haiya...actually most of us already make up our mind who to vote at next GE.
We don't need this story to decide our vote la. Fake or true, it's more like entertainment to me tongue.gif

Please do not use any word to insult other's IQ etc. No good. icon_rolleyes.gif Peace.
