Worth buying. New homes in Puchong 24' wide way back in 2011 already selling for RM900,000+. I know because I was scouting for a home to buy then but since then to now, I somewhat forget the names of these homes. Over here in BSC, one can save RM200,000 buying the same type of home. You just need to put up with lesser commercial development and a higher monthly petrol bill (at most a few hundred RM). This is what I was talking about - a big margin of extra cash for saving up or loosen up your spending for a more pleasurable living for many years down the line!

To illustrate: If you keep 200 k in FD at 3% yearly interest rate, it grows to RM361,222 in 20 years. That gives you an extra RM1,500 income per month! (equivalent to the starting pay of a Diploma graduate...) Or, if you opt to spend the RM200k from now on, it gives you an extra RM833/month to spend for 20 years!

I am planning to move in to my Banyan semi-d unit end of this year. We can group a few nearby residents together and organise our grocery shopping lists and buy everything in bulk at wholesale shops where prices are much cheaper. Someone with Vans can help transport them and distribute the goods to our homes. This is a nice way to build community rapport and for their effort, those who take part agree to pay a small fee to cover the cost of petrol, car wear and tear, and time spent for every trip and effort made by anyone who volunteers the service. On top of that there is still savings for everyone. That would be a lovely way to live in a sub-urban area for a start.
