no offense, but have you ever properly test drive the FLX and let alone own one?

Prior to owning the FLX, I used to drive a Honda CRV and therefore I know the difference between a conventional auto transmission and CVT.

engine braking and better car response can instantly be felt and cant simply be replaced by placebo effect. All these are crucial feedback which helps a lot in driving and better understand the car.
*
Long story short, the new FLX is a gentleman's car and really comfortable for long distance drive as proven during my recent drive to Spore and back. Why? Because I don't feel the gear change at all + the suspension is firm.

However, in stop-start traffic, FLX is "jerky" and needs getting used to. For the driver who is used to "potong jalan" and need to cucuk here and there in a long queue, FLX is not easy to control initially.

Because I am a gentleman driver and don't usually cut queue, FLX is perfect for my style of driving. tongue.gif

Whats your budget on this? Would recommend you to take 10w-40 engine oil .. Reputable brand will be M7, penzoil(highly recommended as it is cheaper), idemitszu .. All imported directly from Japan.. Those local brand might have fake or recycled oil which I don't really recommend it.. Hope it helps smile.gif

"Best" oil? Meaning?

If in terms of viscosity, then "officially" most SCs use 10W40. It appears recent amendments to User Manual states 10W30.

Pls chk yr copy of the User Manual for the viscosity rating for yr model.

Normally choice of viscosity is based on ambient temp of country.

Type? Most SCs use Semi-Synthetic. If yu can afford it, yu can go for Fully-Synthetic oils.

"Best" oil Brand? Subject to yr pocket! The sky can be the limit here! Or yu can follow suggestions in an earlier posted reply 2yr question. rclxm9.gif

Technically, many wld call "overspending" on "high end" oils "overkill".

No i do not own one. I did not test drive one either as there is no available test drive vehicles(another sandiwara) so i did my research about the SAT. The question was about the SAT right? So yes the SAT button does nothing but to "simulate" the supposedly engine down rpm when a higher gear is engaged only because many customers around the world couldn't get use to the gearless change.

No offence taken but i still dont trust Proton's thrust into CVT. Some incidences of CVT overheating, i hear. So you don't have to go all defensive like....

The lack of info about SAT mode in the internet is due to the short media test drives which normally held at Proton's own test track where there's only some flat roads and the speed limit is only 40-60km/h. There is no uphill or downhill slopes which enables the media to further test the SAT mode. What you said is true, if it is from the media point of view.

From an owner's point of view, the SAT button does more than just a "up/down shift stimulation" button.

I think you're half right.

Yes, the SAT was meant to simulate normal AT by electronically adjusting the ratio in a stepped manner than a continuous manner. Whether it was REALLY meant to accomodate drivers who are used to normal AT, well only Proton knows. Honestly, this is a very silly idea but this is Proton we're talking about, so I won't put it past them.

Evidently, a "side effect" of the SAT was better performance when going uphill because you are able to rev to a more efficient RPM instead of having the CVT keeping it at a constant lower RPM, so you can't really say that it is a useless AT simulator.

That being said, I think this kinda defeat the purpose of CVT because CVT is supposed to excel in uphill situations (meaning more fuel efficient).

wanna share regarding my problem with Proton's SC...

due to having problem with power steering ( start the engine, and turn the steering left or right side, came out a noise from the engine..and my car not even 2 months old doh.gif ),the 1st thing i done is send it to 1 of authorized SC dealer at Old Klang Road.Since this is my 1st car and my very 1st defect, i just simply send there with out knowing there is different between AUTHORIZED dealer and Proton Edar SC..Told problem to the SA,went for check and they said something wrong with power steering system and oil is leaking ( which they cannot detect and they don't have spare part for it...) .So,for temporary, they just top up power steering oil and they asked me to check ASAP at COE Kesas Hiway there...Went back home, called COE Shah Alam for booking, and biasa laa nobody wanted to pick up my call..Later tomorrow decided to go COE with out having a booked..and biasa la, nobody wanted to entertain last minute booking..Frustrated,i went straight to Proton EDAr ss13 there hoping there is somebody will help me out...Sampai sana, gave my service booklet, waited about 30 mins, then my name called..Cerita punya cerita about the defected car,SA said need to wait for queued ( that time was number 21 and mine number 35).Some more,if the problem detected, need to order part and kena tunggu for 1 week ...fuuuhhh....thinking back, why do i need to wait from 21 until reached my 35 que,but still need to wait for 1 week?? diorang tak simpan kaa stock parts??I decided head home and just top up oil ( korban RM29+).

After a week later (last week), I went to Damansara SC and managed to get booked...Sampai at 9AM,reporting in,gave my service booklet, and waited for 45mins..Called my name, then again cerita punya cerita about car's problem, and as usual SA (lenglui) told me they will check 1st but need to wait until 10.30am,baru mechanic bawak masuk kereta. Then i asked, why 10.30am? "oh,coz at 10am, we ( and i'm not sure whether all the SA or foreman) will having our morning TEA BREAK...~!!" WTF...and i waited for 30mins ...until 12.30pm,i saw my car not even move from parking lot...Waaaah,i really pissed off and asked lenglui..."u said u will take my car at 10.30am but not it's already 12.30pm...surely later u all will having afternoon LUNCH BREAK right??" She just quite and straight away asked foreman to take my car..after 30mins later, she called and said got problem with "hose assembly pressure" and they don't have stock for that part and again need to order, ETA 1 week doh.gif ....aiyah...how unlucky i felt that time...no choice but accepted it as i am tired going there and here...

So,this week (last Monday),i haven't receive any calls from them,so i called them instead wanted to ask if that part coming in or not...Bla bla bla bla, SA asked my invoice and spare number and will calling me back later on...couple of hour later they didn't gave any follow up..On Tuesday called them again, give this and that to SA,same replied to me and no feedback until yesterday ...My god, what happened laa to those people..? i just need an answer YES or NO...Lotsa excuses i got from them...Server down la, spare part department went to toilet la etc....and now, when i want to drive my car, always 'finger cross' hoping nothing happen while driving..Mana taw later coming another problem?? Common thing laa about Proton's quality but this is only car i can afford..

Normal kaa SC behave like that? Izzit because i only claimed for warranty, and treated people like that? "oh,u got free or claim warranty maa,slow2 laa .." aiyohh....~!

Adoii...sorry what happen to u bro. What a useless PESC/staff. Your situation is the reason i quit service at PESC at 10k km last time. Some how i dont like mechanic attitude when i complain got sound "nyiuk2" right front side abs. The sound clearly come from front the mechanic insist it came from metal at inside trunk. Then i said ok lah just make sure the sound gone..after few hours (like 11am to 5pm) check out my car still got sound. So i go to tyre shop ask to look my problem the mechanic simply said it just ARB bushing making sound & he just spray somekind wd-40 then sound gone until now. That time i decide not to go PESC again. But dont follow my foot step, luckily nothin major happen at my car until now.

Anyway good luck to u bro..

Update :
Yup, Googled. Read thru 6 links.

Blue light ( not necessarily fr LEDs) MAY cause possible damage to eyes (esp of kids) & cause sleep probs...BUT only if high intensity, glaring & one stares at it...

Moreover, blue LEDs/light is practically everywhere!

Now with increasing popularity of Flat Screen/LED TVs, it's right in front of us!

Even white LEDs work based on Blue LEDs & also emit Blue light! So it's almost impossible to avoid Blue light!

One website even mentioned even the SKY is BLUE! haha!

Feel, as in Life, we kenot avoid dev & progress. And in this case, juz dun stare at bright Blue LEDs/light...safe enuf. icon_rolleyes.gif

ps. Blue Display on Digi Voltmeter not glaring nor intense. Morever, we dun need 2stare at it, rite? Juz glance? rolleyes.gif
