I heard someone said before if use syn oil, then use it all the way. Don't change back to mineral. I don't know if there is research to support this theory, though.

QUOTE(Enclave Recruit @ Sep 13 2011, 12:14 AM) ... LOL, when I see Sagas and Maivees speeding on the highway at speeds of >160, I normally pull aside to let them pass. If they r in a hurry to be reincarnated, I shouldn't block them. That's the reason why there's a 40K gap between these two cars. You can try reaching those speeds but then you'd end up in the local newspaper the next day...in pieces. |

QUOTE(playerzaki2000 @ Sep 13 2011, 09:32 AM) Thanks, its a typo... buying a new SAGA, well, not actually buying, i'm going to get it this afternoon Before u collect yr car, u can instruct yr sales person to park it at a cement place and leave it there for few hrs. So when u go to collect, just note the floor. For plastic paddings, mine have creaking noise at the left corner. Anyway, just press all over to make sure nothing is loose. thanks for the reply, and i have several questions, where do i check for 3. oil leakage and for 5. press the plastic paddings on dashboard and both corners, which part is this, i dont quite actually know, is it just the edge of the dashboard? and the jumper cable is listed in the price, so, ya, will be checking the price... thanks again... hoho.. since u mentioned it, is the spare tyre for FLX the same size or smaller sized spare tyre? QUOTE(zeone @ Sep 13 2011, 12:19 PM) How to reject? Incorrect. I think most M'sians don't understand consumer rights. When u collect your car, the salesman will run through a checklist with u. The checklist says that u inspected all parts of the car and u sign yr name saying YES, u inspected everything okay. So if u go through the checklist, something is missing, u still sign kah? You can reject on the spot if the steering wheel is missing, for eg and demand they give u another car. Whether they register with JPJ etc is their pasal. Our Msian way of delivery of cars is only AFTER the car is registered with JPJ ie the said car is oledi YOURS...in yr name!! So NO way anyone can reject, correct? Car company wld juz repair, etc for you depending on the faults detected. True? Only one thing we can do after placing order for a new car...PRAY HARD that one wld get a reasonably well-assembled car with reasonably reliable parts...Agreed? QUOTE(MR_alien @ Sep 13 2011, 12:40 PM) it is registered Yes, correct. but u have to sign another doc when u get the car if u not happy with the car...got defect...u can not sign...ask them to fix 1st QUOTE(gogoman86 @ Sep 13 2011, 12:45 PM) you're right... we have the right to reject the car if there's defect, but however, after they fix it, we still getting the same car, only defect part being fixed or replaced... Correct. |

@scofield: these few days rain on and off. Must be careful driving.
BTW for new FLX users: there is something like a black "sponge" stuck just below the left n right door handles. I know it's for protecting against bumps. Do u remove it or leave it on? |

QUOTE(SiuYi @ Sep 15 2011, 03:55 PM) lowyatsuperman Up to u, bro, it's your wiper. RainX creates "surface tension" so that the glass surface can repel water. That same surface tension also causes friction making it difficult for wiper blades to effectively glide across the glass. Over time, the wiper rubber will suffer uneven wear n tear, eventually scratching the glass. Not to mention the extra strain on the motors driving the wipers. bro, im using it for years, no issue for wipers.u dun apply it on the wiper, just the glass will do.those what u heard are just myth. QUOTE(SiuYi @ Sep 18 2011, 11:06 AM) lowyatsuperman This is just my OPINION so feel free to agree/disagree with me. RainX is a western/European product and not really designed for our tropical weather. No matter how many layers u apply, after a heavy tropical rainstorm (very common in Msia), u r back to square one. Question is, how much do u wanna apply to your front windscreen? Half a bottle a week? For me, I prefer to keep things simple. If it doesn't work (for our weather), stop using it. eventually i will like to discuss with this RainX thing. i read statement saying that if we apply excessive of its liquid on the glass in order to reduce the uneveness of the surface, will it reduce the wear and tear of the wiper? what i understand is that it is alcohol, and the liquid made the surface of the glass to be smooth without friction. so by right the wiper should glide through just like a surfing board, should have any surface friction. any ideas about this? also, to support my statement, my wiper now hits out the glass area easily due to momentum force. that wont happen if i dun apply the liquid.that's the main issue im facing now, "wiping out of the square".LOL. p/s: am i that bad actually? LOL. i already slow down my work as moderator now but still receive comments, im legendary? i think i needa do charity liaw. However, I would apply RainX to all the other glass surfaces ie rear/side windscreen and side mirrors. Anywhere except front windscreen. That's just my way. Feel free to do things YOUR way. |

@SiuYi
I understand your rationale. I also heard about "glass or silicone coating-something-something" for protecting the car paintwork, costs around RM3-4K. With money, anything is possible. Question is, when I buy a budget 45K car, do I want to add another 10-20K for all these extras? My answer is NO. Some ppl answer is YES. ---- For those still asking about FLX FC, I just drove to Singapore and worked out costs to be around 20 sen per km using Shell VPower (RON97) at RM2.80/L. Travelled 382km using approx 26.34L of petrol. Average speed 80-110kmph, 90% on highway. Car only 10 days old and this is first tank. I expect consumption to improve after engine run-in. QUOTE(SiuYi @ Sep 18 2011, 01:00 PM) ... had u ever heard of windscreen waxing? my friend brought his ford ranger to clear the blur windscreen (due to age and previous owner did not wash the car properly). they apply some wax thing on the glasses and it is quite permanent. the shop even give 6 months warranty for it, but it cost rm4xx for the service. |

Okay, here's a mini review on the FLX after my drive to S'pore. I am still there, going back to KL on Monday.
Because the engine haven't run in yet, I have to keep looking at speedo. The car is very easy to reach 110kmph without much effort. My average speed is 90-110. I love the firm suspension especially going over bumps. Some cars when going over "botak" roads (ie roads with the tar surface gone) will be very noisy. Surprisingly FLX's road noise is minimal, feels like a car with 1.8L engine. I think the Goodyear tyres are a good choice by Proton although I am wondering if Dunlop will be even quieter as I have experienced those tyres before. Road holding is also exceptionally good esp when taking corners. Driving long distance with the car is very comfortable because of the smooth ride. It's hard to imagine this is only a 1.3L car. I am glad I did not wait for 1.6L as I need the car NOW and this 1.3 model satisfies my need especially that I prefer fuel economy vs speed. Those who want speed may wanna wait for 1.6 though. The steering wheel cannot be used in the "high" position cos that would block your view of the speedometers etc. I put it at lowest position but arms also get a bit tired at that angle after awhile. Would be good if future models have foldable arm rests like what I had in my previous Estima MPV. The seat is also quite high (I guess to accommodate shorter people) so I had to lower it down otherwise my head will be almost touching the top. Some ppl envy the Maivee's speedo design but I think the FLX is sufficient. I don't care much about the meters looking nice like Christmas tree as "ride comfort" is my top priority. Maivee driven over long distance can be uncomfortable and noisier which is common for hatchbacks. The hatch rattles quite a bit and get worse over the years. About the sound system... (to be contd).... |
