I'm sure it must be definitely drop-dead beautiful when it's finally all ready in shipshape so do keep us posted of its wonderful progress as we await in earnest anticipation.

well, it using tn panel and slim, if you consider of picture quality, you have better choice (dell u2312hm(recommended,successor of u2311h) and lg ips236v)

check this list, and you know why people satisfy with this monitor

prefer CCFL backlight over the overrated LED.and of course it is cheaper.
i dont think U2312HM slimmer than U2311H. the dimension look same but U2312HM has curvy edges and stand.

true, not all people prefer modern design, slim and sleek design especially the one with the glossy body with full of fingerprint and easily scratch. With traditional/industrial design, people will focus on the screen more because nothing special to see other than screen area. Plus wled edge led is only good for produce brighter image and starting time but will reduce small value of colour gamut compared to enhanced ccfl on u2311h or expensive wide gamut ccfl. The best thing of led backlighting is rgb lighting and self dimming led backlighting which is not likely to be available on budget consumer level product

So do you ask dell for replacement, i believe they will replace your monitor with U2312HM if you request for new one sweat.gif
its not right for digital media like dvi can produce image defect on digital-based screen

i would say check the DVI cable first
my DVI cable received from purchasing AOC 18''5 RazorBlade LED also give something like this but slight blue colour
open up
find old HD3XXXX DVI cable.plug it in and problem solve
but depends~~not to say i saw everything yet in problem and technical difficulties

yes. when I ordered my 2nd u2311h, dell has sent me u2312hm cuz they no longer have new stock of it.
u2312hm is definitely lighter than u2311h. and noticeable weight that u can feel it with tilting or swinging the monitor.
In the end, I prefer the more professional look of the U2311H. but i do have 1 nagging problem with the u2311h when comparing to the u2312hm is that the CCFL takes a few minutes to warm up to get to the proper colour levels. becuz of that, the 2 monitors will have 2 different color level at the first few minutes when power on

dvi is mostly digital, its either there is image or not, unless the display is supporting dvi-a(analog) and the signal that was sent are analog signal, guess he/she need to check which signal does he get whether it is dvi-a or dvi-d. Im not sure how to get dvi-a signal since usually my u2311h only show dvi-d type of media

problem solved, the culprit is the motherboard dvi port.

yesterday Dell technician came to my place he brought along the refurbished set in case my monitor faulty.
plugged the refurbished monitor..same result, change dvi cable oso same result.after that, the monitor connected to my friend comp and actually the monitor is working well.
went to urgent shopping yesterday and got myself a cheapo second hand ati radeon hd3870 while waiting HD7XXX tongue.gif

now i can enjoy brilliant display from my monitor back rclxm9.gif

finally u2312hm review, and it is highly recommended with little improvement from u2311h. u2311hm would be the best 23" monitor to recommend.

QUOTE
On the outside 23” U2312HM looks like a 24” U2412M. The new softer look with rounded edges and great ergonomic functions is re-used and the 23” monitor boasts the same DVI, DisplayPort and D-SUB (VGA) inputs. But one thing is different; size. Even though U2312HM is just one inch smaller than its bigger brother, the real difference is more significant. Because of the 16:9 format – and therefore lower resolution – U2312HM is not as close to U2412M in size, as one might suspect.

On the inside, U2312HM is not much different from the U2412M either. Besides the lower resolution, U2312HM has pretty good picture quality for a monitor in this price range. The Standard picture preset is fairly accurate, viewing angles are wide, response time is fast (and faster than on U2412M), we experienced no clouding and color reproduction in general is good. U2312HM is a value-for-money screen, and even though it offers only few improvements compared to the predecessor U2311H, the new U2312HM is a great monitor for amateurs working with graphic and photography.

Dell U2312HM’s low price also puts it in a favorable position compared to the competition. If you seek better black depth, VA based monitors are still preferable. A low-price alternative could be Eizo’s new FS2332 (test coming soon) but until then I think the U2312HM deserves the same recommendation that we gave U2412M, simply because it offers almost the same picture characteristics at a lower price (and smaller size).
