I dont think it is the same thing. I see alot of positives from this one. Mainly, for the first time in like 5 seasons we're able to play possession football, attacking football, something that we lack over the years. Its just not our day today.

and i dun think last season stoke would have to alter the condition of the pitch just to prevent our pass and move football.

Same thing every season.Liverpool lose away to teams like stoke and draw sunderland at home. Then when we play against man utd,we raise our game and play with full spirit for 90minutes.I swear to you this is tiring and sickening.Same old plot for the 10years or so supporting liverpool. The older supporters have witnessed us winning the league but you have to pity the younger ones like me who are subject to crap from man united, chelsea and arsenal fans over the years.
*
seriously, I am totally sick of hearing this tune from the "younger" fans. Can't take the heat, go get the glory you deserve with another team. it's easy, just go buy a jersey, switch sides and you will not need to take crap anymore. cool2.gif

we had 18 shots on target, 10 corners and we had most of the possession. If that is not positive, I have no idea what would please you guys. if winning is all you care for, then this is not the team for you. blush.gif

Sometimes we will have to learn to take the positives from the game even when we are losing to a side that we had cowered into defending 11 man behind the box. Read the stats, Britannia stadium is not easy to break down. We played the previous 4 games (3 draws and 1 lost) that speaks volumes in terms of their football. if you bothered to look into it, it was a tough test for us. When Hodgson.. OMFG, was around, we won't even be closed to that stats let alone have a chance at winning it. We tried all the way and it wasn't like we gave up, even till the last whistle we were pressing them. Some games are going to be like that and you expect an easy game with a bus parked in their box? Do you even understand what you were watching?

Stoke defended well, we were a bit hard done by a soft penalty and we were more or less not given one with a handball. we had misses but I for one have no complaints over our performance. We lost, we move on. It was a great team performance but as luck would have it, our shots did not end up behind the net.

Please don't bother replying this as it would just show the immaturity of fans like you to continue to whine over 1 lost and to a team like Stoke who are there to play us down with the way they defended. Again let me remind any fans that deems we did badly tonight, go switch colors because I have not been that excited to see so much action from a team that started out so differently from last season. blush.gif

Carra?

He gave away goals recently. Reminds me of Kiriagos last season.

Yes, Carra played quite bad today.
We still need to stick to Carra for now. He is still our "reliable" option until someone can step up and replace him.

Just not our day.

apart from downing and enrique i think the whole team not performing. adam, lucas, suarez, hendo, kuyt was not sharp. i blame the international break. bellamy did show some positive after he comes in for hendo.

carra made sloppy mistake. i bet he knows it too and dissapointed more than anyone else. he'll be good against spurs next week. dont worry. but i do agree that he needs to be bench from time to time. to ease coates into the side.

the reason we have those high possession stats because stoke park the bus after they lead and refuse to play.

next week a tougher match. hope kenny can patch things up.

Well played Stoke. You have to admit that was an inpiring display from them.

We were just a bit rusty but the one goal down kinda forced our gameplay a bit. You could see Adam rushing to force our build ups. Some of his passes were atrocious, it's not something you would expect from a player of his calbre , let alone a Liverpool player. Also Suarez needs to calm down a bit, or he'll be seen by the ref and linesmen as the boy who cries wolf. Henderson is getting there but its kinda obvious he lacks the confidence to play at his best.

Defensively we were ok other than that school boy error from Carra. I can forget and forgive his lapse of concentration but what i cannot deal with is his overall football skills. The constant hoofing at the first sign of pressure is getting tiresome for me. Enrique was perhaps the best defensive player we had in this match. Good defending and has great football mind and ability.

Overall, i'm dissapointed but it was a good match. And Stoke seems to be like our kryptonite, at least to be during the first half of the season.

It was a disappointing result but we played well throughout the game .
We created chances after chances just that we are lack of finishing.
Guess that it is not Liverpool day as we have 73% domination in possesion and 24(7) shots on goal. Well, looking for the next game in White Hart Lane ! You'll Never Walk Alone !

Not the best performance, not the worst either. Carra could have play better. 2 mistakes in 2 games in a row. Not so consistent now, is he? Same goes to Hendo who is not consistent enough despite playing well last game for England U21 and our team. Din bring the momentum forward. Only positive for me is that Downing and Enrique performs like usual. They have been consistent ever since they get in the team which is a good sign.

If you prove you're good enough, you deserve a start, end off. Even the likes of Stevie will have to earn his place in the team. Maybe it's because he epitomises a Liverpool type player to me but I have heaps of respect for our Carra. Fair play if he's getting on a bit but I am somewhat disturbed that some of you talk about discarding him like he's just another name. Heaven forbid that King Kenny should receive the same treatment should we go through a bad patch.

I myself am critical of certain players. I was of Carra long ago when he played in midfield and rightback but Rafa saw what a lot of people didn't, that he would make a good centreback. He has never been known for his passing ability, anyone who has watched him through his entire career like me would know that. When he played defensive midfield for England, opponents would stand off him knowing that passing isn't one of his strengths. Carra has always been known to be a safety first defender. He isn't the most gifted on the ball and he doesn't pretend to be. Wouldn't want him to do a Djimi Traore in front of goal would we? My point is we all already know what he's like. It isn't like he lost the ability to pass over night. He is still very much the same player who put his body on the line to protect our goal in Istanbul. He is still the same player who doesn't go down unless he's really hurt. He is still a fierce and determined competitor. However, he is getting older but this leads me to my next point.

In my opinion, certain players or managers have done so much, they are beyond criticism. If we go through a bad run, will it be fair to criticise King Kenny after all he's done for the club? He is a legend, an immortal and in my books, Carra is a legend as well. I'm sure that he has the grace to step aside when he realises that his presence in the team does more harm than good, such is his love for the club. Yes he makes errors just like any other defender and if he's to be dropped, so be it but let's treat him with the respect he deserves.

Carra is past his best, but non the less , he will be remembered and respected.

Hopefully Coates will be the new "Carra"

We played a good attacking game and Lady Luck was not on our side, Suarez should have earned us a point. Anyway the signs are there, we are progressing as a Team now. Look at Downing and Enrique, they performed and not to forget about Lucas......... And i duno wat is our Carroll doing yesterday.............

Its like this , we sometimes played a good game but still lose and sometimes we played badly before but we win biggrin.gif

Lets move on and take Spurs full 3 points next.

Let's put a little perspective on the situation. Like i said earlier, I do admit that Carra is getting on but the way people are talking about him, it's like he's just another player. Have you seen some of the blame that's been placed on him? He's an easy target. What about those who missed guilt edged opportunities to score? Suarez is the flavour of the month and rightly so but he's just as guilty for missing an open opportunity.

Carra has turned 33 and speed was never his main attribute. It's one reason he was moved from rightback to centreback because whenever he played on the right, he wasn't going to be too adventurous knowing very well that he didn't have the pace to track back had we lost possession when he was caught upfield. Sami Hyypia left us at 35 and he never had any pace. He made up for it by reading the game very well. Each year fans would talk about how slow he was but he never was quick to begin with. I don't know if anyone criticised him then but he left a legend and Carra deserves the same if not more. We can continue to focus on his mistake yesterday or look to the times he covered his fellow defenders by running across to make a lunging tackle in games before.

In the end, my biasness towards Carra is very much sentimental and as Liverpool fans, a big reason for supporting the club is based on sentiment. Players have come and gone but Carra has remained. It's the reason I only have his name on my jerseys.

If he's off colour, King Kenny will drop him and rightly so but I reiterate, let's not talk about him as though we don't owe him any gratitude.
