QUOTE(Soony @ May 20 2015, 09:26 PM) Just got my offer for Barrow Island / Gorgon. CKJV/Chevron to fly me out of Malaysia/Brisbane. So I'll be making the move back to KL. But I will have 2 stopover days per swing in Perth, so if gathering falls on those days, I can join. You still working on Pluto LNG? |

I'm also in the midst of applying for Aussie PR (Subclass 189), left passing IELTS test remaining before submitting EOI.
Looking at what's happening in our country and the government really encourages me to migrate for good. But then again, job market in Aussie is not in its best state, as well as its currency and economy. I heard iron ore price dropped gau gau, not to mention global oil price, which has its effect on Aussie as well. Sometimes I'm hesitating. I'm not worried about getting the visa, I'm more worried about getting a job and a stable income to survive there. This post has been edited by jianh: Jul 2 2015, 10:44 AM |

Frankly speaking, if you are a career oriented person and aim to achieve high in the career ladder, Australia might not be a suitable place for you. However if you are comfortable with a middle-low level job, you could live comfortably in a better environment. |

Please dont go with the illusion of retaining your current position in the job world. go with a fresh mind , new start and retool to assimilate there. If you have a family your kids will be better off i feel there. Frankly speaking, if you are a career oriented person and aim to achieve high in the career ladder, Australia might not be a suitable place for you. However if you are comfortable with a middle-low level job, you could live comfortably in a better environment. end of day its up to the individual to make his way. getting the PR is one thing...the real challenge starts when you are there. But once you make it and are comfortable i believe you will be happy. nothing in life is easy in the beginning. Im leaving in September for melbourne, I have no illusions of a rosy life but for my kid i am willing to do whatever it takes. |

We've cut our team from an original 50 man engineering team to 4. I'm one of them. The job market is tough. Most of our Australian exports are based off 3 key areas, Iron ore, Oil and Gas and agricultural products. The first 2 do not view Malaysian experience highly and the last is outside the area of most people. If you think the MYR to USD slide was bad, we used to be at 1.1 USD per AUD, now at 0.75. A near 30 percent slide. |

If u can get a job, even at 'low end' jobs such as cleaning, hospitality, retail etc. u still can have a pretty decent life.
The AUD stretches further than the RM. AUD 1000 can pay for your car, groceries for 2, pay all utilities for a month. And a low end job earns you 687 ($20 ph * 40 hours less tax) per week. Housing is expensive so must be prepared to commute a longer time if u want affordable accomm. Still, can't beat the increasing fanaticism, quality of education, quality of life etc. |

If you're looking for a high pose job, maybe it's not a place for you. You'll live miserable later. Migrating is very personal, depends on what you're after. Looking at what's happening in our country and the government really encourages me to migrate for good. Oz rely agricultural to sustain most of the losses. Well, take whatever job 1st to pay bills. What's your profession anyway? |
