Coz it does sound a lot to me. I reckon the restaurants buffet style in Melbourne v cheap eh ? My fren can easily go there every week.

depends how popular the restaurant is.

they have groupon, etc too so that's the saving

price wise, it's dollar to dollar. $79 for a seafood buffet same as RM79 buffet in malaysia

you also can get many great coupons from Entertainment Book too

I'd recommend getting the Entertainment Book which is really good. The savings you get on Woolworths / Caltex Woolworths Petrol with the 5% discount gift card (prepaid) is good enough at least for myself in addition to those coupons in there eg buy 1 free 1 etc, which provides you opportunity to try different restaurants or events.

Of course it would sound like a lot to you cos u r comparing with M'sian wages.

If you can imagine, you work in a supermarket, u earn AUD25 per hour or AUD3.5K nett per month after tax.

But then you buy a sandwich and coffee, or a plate of char kuey teow is AUD10 per serve.

Buffets can range from AUD15 for the cheap & nasty, normally sponsored by jackpot machines, to AUD100 in uber luxury 5 star hotels.

The main expenses would be rental, which is AUD200 per week for a room, or AUD866 month. So 24% of income goes to rent..

Obviously you will struggle to raise a family, let alone buy a family sized house on this income.

Depends if the savings equate to the $60 u pay for in the first place.
S'pose if u have a family and always want to go out n venture makan and go do tourism activities then it's worthwhile.

I'm sure my fren will do well since he doesnt have to pay rental as he is living with friends or relative.
So buffet weekly is ntg to him. They are still young and savings can start before he has a family smile.gif

definitely can get more than $60.

those buy 1 free 1 coupon is the best. even a fine dining can get up to 25% discount and that's already covered the cost of entertainment book

Hi guys, been a while away back to KL for 2weeks Christmas break. Going thru humid and rainy season and heavy traffic!!!
KL is very expensive now compared i left years ago and even earning AUD, still realising money draining quicker than i thought. Bought diapers and formula milk already RM135+carpark+miscellaneous = RM150 gone in 1 hour.
Had bakuteh in cheras cost me $15/head on a roadside stall...
Slaugthered by Auntie having Cha Fan for 2 vege + 1 meat + rice = RM9! Ganasai.
I know it doesn't cost much coz i earn AUD but dollar to dollar is just insane!
Just hardly imagine how Malaysian survive these days

People not living at home and not sponsored by parents, see how hard to make a living on an average wage in Malaysia la. See whether can still afford gym membership, buffet and rm15 coffees after maintaining a car, paying petrol, toll, paying rent. See how far 3K gets you

it's likely this is their 1st job, having monthly income seems like a godsend to them, until they realize the earning is not enough to cover the society activities, soon they will change

2ndly maybe they stay with parent, so no concern with housing loan, at most only need to manage car loan

wait till u have ur own kids then u complaint
