Just fyi, if anyone really really want to get aussie pr, its actually very easy. Just park ~aud 2m (forgot what is the min but aud2m should be enough) in investable cash and you get priority processing. No need to fret about ielts or whatnot.

if they have AUD 2 Million, do you think they would even be on this forum, in this thread, trying to gather more information on how to migrate?

how's the IT industry looking for next year ? planning to look for a job there so the best is to move there then hunt for a job since most of you mentioned that they won't bother if you do not have a local contact number

Locals keep complaining no job for them. Employers keep cutting cost. Minimum wage is quite high. Most of the Level 1 support being outsourced to Asia countries.

Am in second year of uni. Just wondering how much of a chance does a malaysian stand of getting a job in the big 4 in aussie. Most of my friends are talking about applying for one but most of us don't really think we'd get it.

normally there will be 2 stages in interview. if you can get past the 1st stage which is mostly technical interview then you will have high chance to get a job.

try graduate program if you have PR

please be reminded that try to be polite when you are on the phone with the employer. they like to see how people communicate through the phone before they invite you for the interview

Should be okay. Make sure you have volunteering work, vac work experience and a part time job in your resume. Double and triple check your grammar and english then it should be okay. I have a few friends from uni who are now working in the big4 after graduating and the company literally sponsored their visa.

Problem with graduate program is that most of these big companies only hire afew people each intake. Considering there would be thousands of applicants, unless you're resume is top notch you don't really stand a chance

Well, that's not entirely true. Big companies that I got to know in WA takes in around 50-60 graduates a year unless you consider that number small.

Slightly larger number, from a pool of thousands you're resume really needs to stand out

I was also referring to engineering but normally company will take across all discipline. Mine I know out of 50-60 they had around 35 engineers for graduate position.

The point is don't lose hope =) Work hard and study hard will have a fruitful future.

Hi Nemesis. Yeah I am currently in Halliburton in Malaysia. But like you said, once I get my visa settled I will start applying. Planning to retake IELTS this end of the year. Sadly my IELTS from 2008 is no more recognised.
*
Halliburton is a big co. U can check whether they have any branch here and request for transfer.
Retake IELTS only, no big deal. Just see what band u want

sick of contractor job. you can't be contractor forever even though the pay is high. most of the company just hire contractor for 3 months and kick you back to unemployment status

it depends. most of the jobs advertised by recruiter will mention "likely to be extended" or some sort of that but not all companies do that. the contractor is there to fill the position for temporary when someone is away or there is a project going on and require a project manager, etc

best example is from my workplace where they hired lots of contractor including the one from Dell to deploy Win 7 to every machines. they can't meet the deadline so they have to extend the contract as well but now that is completed, i don't see the contractors here anymore. not even one of them

i don't really bother to go for contractor job unless i am desperate for a job.

Does anyone knows how the newly arrived resident's waiting period works?

The thing is I was granted permanent residency onshore somewhere in August 2011. But, after my PR was granted, I went overseas to accept a job offer and have been overseas ever since.

So, when I arrive in Australia next year, will I have to serve a newly arrived resident waiting period? If yes, how is it calculated? I have read on their website that any time spent in Australia as a resident can be counted towards the waiting period. What does this sentence means? Many thanks..cheers!
