are you referring to the Graduate Visa ?
If yes, this is the list of recognized institution..

QUOTE(mik@ @ Sep 9 2013, 09:48 PM)
sweat.gif Thanks. That is so not worth the additional 5points then.
Is there a restriction or list of universities for degree? A friend mentioned that he graduated from a UK uni under Lim Kok Wing twinning program and his degree wasn't recognized so he didn't get the points for education. I searched for the (possibly) elusive list on IMMI but can't seem to locate it. Is there such a thing?

Referring to the bold part, does it have to be of the same profession? I've recently changed role for a little over a year now. My current and previous jobs are on the SOL/CSOL (can't recall now).

Btw, is it true about meruchan? I thought she just wanted to come back to MY after finishing her studies.
so 489 is only valid for 2years and work in regional areas. What's the definition of regional area?  hmm.gif
Btw, how did your IELTS go?

Regional is not my "cup of tea". Small town and hard to find asian cuisine tongue.gif
Go to city need more than 1 hour of car ride.

My IELTS sucks. Going back to Malaysia on 2 Oct cry.gif

It is interesting to discover that Cambridge, Oxford & Edinburgh are missing from the list for UK.

One of the best things about living in a different country is experiencing the culture, food, lifestyle and everything there. One would question what is the purpose of relocating if once relocated, we try to retain our existing lifestyle instead of experiencing something different?

if you are applying for 189, then you have to go thru skill assessment, and usually will depends on the org that access it (like ACS for IT) and usually these they dont have a list of recognized uni, as long as you can provide your degree with transcript and it's related to your work.. then it should be recognized..

Heard that it a bit difficult because they usually reserved for their own ppl.

But travel to overseas is so much easier. I booked a flight to Japan from KL-Tokyo next month for a short break. Budget is $5k for 2 people which I think is enough for 13days there. Fork out RM15k if I am working in Malaysia is a bit hard for me though

The chance is very very slim. Now the company have to prove that they have been looking for someone locally for at least 3 months before can sponsor someone from overseas (eg. job advertised for 3 months)

Hey! Me too! But my trip from KL-Tokyo is around Jan 2014. But my budget isnt that high as I'm still a student. Let me know your experience once you're back. I only plan to bring $2k there with accommodation provided by a friend.

Honestly, you are wasting your time and the info you gathered here might not relevant anymore unless you lodge your PR immediately. I noticed lots of people wanted to migrate, but due to their 'not sure' or 'later la' attitude, they are not eligible anymore to lodge an application.

If you are serious about migrating and not clear about the policies, seek out a migration agent - they often offer free advice based on your current situation, not to mention policies change from time to time and some without any notice. Email or phone them, they could determine your eligibility to lodge an application, area to improve or a path to focus on.

If you are determined enough to lodge by yourself, just do it. Time is tickling and God knows whether the new elected government would scrap the whole migration program. icon_question.gif

Thanks Onomatopoeia for the advice.

I think you did say somewhere that you are in your early 40s right? If your sibling is in Australia, you do get additional points for it too. Most of the questions that you have asked here are the very basic questions related to migrating to AU and surprisingly, the folks here have been answering you rather patiently tongue.gif

When I sat for my IELTS few months ago, I bumped into another woman who is in a similar predicament as you are (e.g. older age bracket, accountant). But at least she was working hard to meet the minimum points. It was her third attempt at IELTS as her previous ones were only Band 6 (or 7, can't recall now). Not meaning to pour cold water on you, but this isn't the place to do a Q&A because you are too busy with your studies.

Thanks Mik for your advice too.

No employer will sponsor you given your current situation. I'm 99.9999 percent sure of that. Mind you there are a million and 1 Indian graduates already in Australia with PRs and working at 7-11. Why would they choose you?

Actually I recall that the recognized graduate visa only applies to Engineering students. I don't make the rules lol. If they recognize only those 2 unis, what to do? I think famous kuda in this forum Meruchan tried to apply for onshore PR, she was a graduate of QUT with a Masters of Accounting, but end up had to go back because no work and she didn't want to be a waiter for the rest of her life.

Kesian her. She seemed pretty well settled here.

My suggestion is that you aim for;
1) SkillSelect PR invitation
2) Be in the skilled workforce for 5 years for the extra 10 points.
3) Aim for an IELTS Score of 8

If you start now, you'll get your PR visa in about 6 years.

If you want the faster way well, you'll need about 60k AUD.

Thank you again,Empire23 .
