QUOTE(a-poc @ Dec 19 2011, 05:58 PM) I'm not sure about the rest of you Penangites here (Penang island to be specific). I rarely achieve above 20km/l due to the short distance driving and traffic jams. Averaging 14km/l at most. What is your score? Correct me if i am wrong, for other non-hybrid car, when they say can do about 14km/l, that's also only on cruising /non-jam condition rite? under heavy traffic stop and go condition, they also doing somewhere 8 to 10km/l.so cannot compare insight consumption for city driving directly with optimum cruising non-jam driving of non-hybrid directly. each car have its own optimum speed / rpm that gives the best fuel consumption. i noticed for insight, my fcd display will get to 25km/l when cruising on flat road at about 80 - 90km/h speed at around 2k rpm (which i assume gearbox at top gear). most of the typical sedan/family car have the best fuel consumption when cruising on flat road around 80-100kmh at rpm around 2 to 2.5k. not to say you cannot drive faster than that or squeeze more umph out of any car, but power always come at a cost (of course, with an exception that you are driving a solar or wind powered car, if that's available). |

I'm just wondering how is the other Penangite's average score of their FC driving in Penang. This post has been edited by a-poc: Dec 20 2011, 09:39 AM |

i find that discussing about FC is not really meaningful as the different reasons (driving styles, road condition) can impact the outcome.
there is no pt when some tell u that he/she can achieve better FC. Especially all of us are driving the same brand same model of car. the FC may still vary but definitely bare minimum as all are driving the same car. |

but overall la...if really want to compare the FC
i thinks this number will be quite standard full tank of petrol around RM60+- for petrol price RM1.9 you will get mileage around 450-500km you get more from 500km if ur travel route is more to highway kind and less start and stop. And it will be less than 500km if u always floor the pedal and ur travel route is short and always stop. |
Here is your answer... 1: a typical vios/city will get you 14km/l average fuel consumption an Insight will get you 19-25km/l (19 Econ off / 22-25km/l ECON on) 2. Battery do not cost RM7K it cost RM5K at the moment all Insight have 5 years Warranty on Battery but the replacement have only 6 months (consumer need to fight the replacement battery 6 month warranty lifespan) but google around and you will notice Insight battery is actually NIMH D-Cell type battery in serial layout. in US the previous generation of insight have their battery replace by 3rd party and it only cost RM1500 to RM2000 provided the 3 IMA circuit board is in good condition (so just replacement of wear/faulty batteries is RM1,500 t0 RM2,000) they even replace with a better stronger maH battery which provide longer distance per charge 3. With insight you get 100% rebate on Import TAX and Duties and this is the actual cost what the manufacturer build that worth... with other car (non hybrid) you pay RM50K in TAX so what you get is RM50K cheaper car build value... 4. you pay 10K and you get Traction Control (a active safety that really really can save your life.... well if your life is worth extra 10K) and you also get Automatic headlight / automatic wipers, 2 tear dashboard meter that only found in civic, 3D display upper tiered panel display..... for me the VSA/Traction control is worth extra 10K Thx
I am the honda insight owner....i bet you will no regret...this car is very safe...and it last long....trust my foreseen |

Maybe you should compare with non hybrid on how their FC is?Your 14, if theirs is 7,8,9.... then that's 100-70% improvement! |

QUOTE(mrsafwan @ Dec 20 2011, 08:29 AM) Achieved 25km/l on city driving with Ron 95. Perfect condition, all traffic lights turns green just as I get to it.. Yeah one of those days where everything is perfect Average, realistic figure is, city+highway, 20km/l is definitely achievable. Naughty a bit, and I'm still getting avg of 19.5km/l To Chan. Short answer, u can say your fuel savings will at least ngam ngam cover ur battery cost, if unfotunately, u need a full replacement. (worst case scenario) Chances are, you won't and u'll need +ve in the end.. maybe not much to make it a 'significant' money making scenario. Long answer. Compare other things... Forte... no comment la, really good car for the price. If they have Forte hybrid with d tax exemption, I'll sure get!!! But, it's korean car (perceived low resale value), and i dun fancy the design. Heck, before I buy mine, I was waiting for the new Avante... but they din bring in fast enough, still not bring in now... :/ But if u compare with t/h u'll get a nice car for the most bang of your bucks. Summary FC Battery replacement cancels each other. (At 1.90 per liter) At more than that, or u're a 97 user, u'll net gain Your 10k extra vs city, vios. > Fully imported frm japan > Safety features, vsa as mentioned > Cruise control > Auto wiper/lights.. fancy things only.. > When you close your car door, you get the very reassuring 'THUD' instead of even my friend's altis which feels light, vios city... uhm not much comment on those... havent been in one lately for a while > NICE DASHBOARD!! Colourful, definitely something u'll come to miss when you drive another car after this. > Good, sound system > Steering control buttons, which entry civic also dont have. > Glasses have built in heat reduction feature, u can save some on the tints... go with lower ratings. Other intangible/negligible/spiritual benefits, Regenerative braking... less need for physical braking, prolong life of ur braking system/no need replace so frequent? Saving the world~ Added ++Turns you into a hypermiller, prolongs ur tires life Balance it out with some negative comments. No autolock Autolight can be a CON too... if u care about offing lights before u start car engine. Leaving it in auto, will lights up before u hit ignition Rear headroom. Rear passenger headroom, spotty.. 6 feeters will have uncomfortable ride. Made in japan car, intended for japanese sizes? Middle seat not for 5.7/8 feeters. Back view can be funny/obstructed, with the beam blocking (the facelift version improved this a bit) Auto stop, can be annoying, if it goes into autostop, just at the precise time u want to move, you'll get a jerk as it stops, and immediately restarts. Some comments from other ppl, who say auto stop and on the air cond, put extra strain on the Air Cond... as it stops, and on and stop and on, higher risk of spoilt/failure Added on December 20, 2011, 1:20 pm QUOTE(a-poc @ Dec 20 2011, 12:52 PM) Actually, I'm interested in a real world numbers from the other cars, in start stop situations too.Remember the old honda city? They claim to get 25++ km/l last time, with their trip from X to genting.... The FC thread in LY, not properly structured, and no one gathers the info to sum in main page.... And the ppl there are posting in a lot of different formats.. instead of the std km/l.... to make comparison easier This post has been edited by eltaria: Dec 20 2011, 01:20 PM |

There is no bluetooth audio on Insight... however there is USB and yes ipod/iphone compatible which bring all control to the audio player...
The start stop function will not stress the aircond compressor as this compressor is made for hybrid... The start stop function is kinda aggressive / jerky sometime you will feel the engine come back to life but a little comfort I can sacrifice for the fuel savings... beside wasting fuel at traffic light is plain wasting!!! I manage to achieve 19-22km/l every day driving to work and coming back from work my work journey (Kepong<-->Sungai Buloh<-->Subang Airport) it take 30min to work and 45-1 hour to come back home... usually going to work I manage 22km/l and going back usually 19-20km/l how to do this the trick is follow the ECON colour changes and Eco Guide Bar... you drive like a dic* you get a fuel consumption like a... you get it dic*!!! Insight is a very powerfull car for a 1.3 the acceleration is on par with a toyota Altis 2.0 Dual VVTi CVT... (I try it my self) compare to forte... Forte is a very good car... but the resale value of Korea car is not mature and you will be taking risk on resale value... also the parts I heard dont last that long (no comment on this) but you can take risk... for RM98K and made in japan... I go for MADE IN JAPAN This post has been edited by calvin_ng: Dec 20 2011, 02:54 PM |
