Joining in da club... Finally collected my Pearl White Insight 3 days back after about 3 weeks waiting. I choose to have all seats and door trim to be leather because I will have kids in the car climbing up and down, so earsier for cleaning. Did my security film tinting at Raytech.

Mileage just went past 1,000km because went for outstation work trip with it right away. One full tank of petrol (I pump right before entering highway) just nicely enough for me to drive from Puchong to Penang island and back with highway speed between 110 to 120km/h. Service center no slot for me today so can only do the 1k service next Monday. By then, I guess my mileage would be close to 1.5k.

Tomorrow morning going for Mugen sideskirt and spoiler installation. Will post feedback or pic once done.

facelift come out soon u still bought it now?  blink.gif

I need a new car now, travel a lot for work purpose, facelift till now not confirmed yet so can't afford the unconfirmed 'waiting period'. Anyway, there will always be a facelift version coming out one after another, keep on waiting means will never buy eventually.

Anyway, I love the current look with the Mugen bodykit installed. Got the bodykit installation done just now around noon. Have not got chance to take a photo, anyway, will give the car a wash first tomorrow as it is quite dirty from the long distance drive with on and off rain.

arghh... the two nut cover of my front wiper arms were stolen, exposing the silver nut.

I am not sure when other stuff like the radio antenna will be targetted. for time being, just going to buy a can of black paint and spray the nut black so it does not look too obvious that the rubber is missing.

last time the civic hybrid air con also can work during engine stop...heard that the compressor was driven by electric. but maybe want to cut cost, this was taken away for inisight model and we get hot air during engine idle biggrin.gif

Apart from cost-saving, this is one of the way Honda trying to extend the lifespan of the IMA battery, thus they able to give you up to 5 years or 140,000 km warranty for the IMA battery pack.

from what I read from internet, the version of Civic hybrid have aircond compressor driven by electric motor powered by IMA batteries. During auto-stop, the petrol engine shut off leaving the air-cond compressor running on electricity from the IMA pack. This will significantly increase the charge-cycling rate (or usage) of the IMA battery pack (especially on Malaysia's extreme hot tropical climate and stop-and-go traffic downtowm KL that frequently triggers auto-stop mode) thus reducing the battery lifespan.

Batteries technology still need improvement especially on lifespan and charge-cycling, so for time being, the improvement made by Honda to extend the lifespan of IMA battery pack is to sacrifice a bit in terms of cooling comfort during auto-stop.

wow how did you get 820km for 30L ~27km/l? is it RON97 petrol?

now I am only averaging 550km for 32L ~ 17km/l..... but 90% city driving with 40% driving in carparks/jams ^^
*
Just for statistics as I had made quite a long work trip today.

Car still new, odo reading about 2,000km.

Pump my tank full with RON95 this morning, reset trip. One driver & one passenger on front seat, with 2 laptops, 1 full set PC, 1 printer and some wirings and tools filling up the whole trunk.

1) Puchong to Taiping on highway 110 - 120km/h - 7am to 10am (cool ambient temperature)
2) Taiping to Simpang Pulai on same highway. (hot day)
3) Simpang Pulai to Parit on old trunk road 70 - 100 km/h (hot day)
4) Parit to Sitiawan on trunk road 70 - 100km/h (hot day)
5) Sitiawan to Seri Manjung on trunk road 70 - 100km/h (hot day)
6) Seri Manjung to Kuala Selangor on trunk road 80 - 100km/h (drizzle)
7) Kuala Selangor back to Puchong on trunk road & highway (evening drizzle)

My low-fuel warning light came on when I reach Sungai Besar (on route 6 from Seri Manjung to Kuala Selangor). Trip meter reading at that time was 735km. Only manage to pump in 31 liters of petrol before my tank is completely full again. So I got my FC calculated to about 23.7km/l. The car ECU calculated it as 22.9km/l.

I noticed FC is slightly higher on hot day drive as aircond compressor comes on more frequent, causing drag to engine, which in turns make driver step on accelerator harder to keep up with speed, which make the odo turns light or dark blue more frequent.

Have another trip coming up which involves more night and pre-dawn driving, will see how much different in FC for that one.

Mine, I did 1K maintenance...no wonder there is some improvement on fuel efficiency. Before that full tank around 400-420. Now more than that. Must be the reset probably CVTF...  tongue.gif    biggrin.gif
*
I thought CVTF stands for CVT Fluid? As far as what I found out, what they are resetting is the service reminder odometer reading, and that does not really affect your engine or the cvt settings or memory.

Resetting ECU smart learning memory would probably involves disconnection of battery or fuse to cut the power from the respective microchips.

yes, absolutely 2nd that.
no longer feel the slagging and jerking issue after reset the CVT.
totally recommend to those bros who are facing these problems now.

Still could not figure out the relationship of the reset would have anything to do with solving slagging and jerking issue.

Dig through the copy of Owner's Manual and found a section under Maintenance - CVTF Service Reminder System (Starting from Page 353 till 360 in my copy of manual), which explains the purpose of this reading and reset procedure. IMHO, this is just a reminder service that you reset after every CVTF fluid change at 40,000km, so the system will warn you the next time you need to change CVTF fluid again when you pass another 40k.

So we should not reset it if below 40kkm rite....
*
No harm resetting it, I guess you just will not get the warning to change CVTF fluid at the correct timing.

Usually the service center will keep track on that for you using the service booklet, so there is not much worry of not having accurate reminder service from the car's odometer, if you felt doing the resetting procedure can make the car less jerking or slugish. wink.gif

my insight is going to 7 mths old. time flies.

did my 3rd service later week. think from now i will drag a bit later (3 mths + few more weeks) for the next service. tongue.gif
*
HM mentioned must follow their predefined service intervals in order for the car warranty to be valid. just wonder how much extra km we can drag extra before they consider as voiding warranty, 1k? My first service was done at 2k instead of 1k as i had drove the car outstation to kedah right after collection. i am going to hit 5k and due for first service about 3 weeks from the day i collected the car. looks like i need to service the car about once a month if follow the 5k interval.

i used to use fully synthetic oil in my previous car and service every 10k. i do not think HM will honour the warranty if i do the same. anyway, will try to ask the SC when i go there for the 5k service soon.

I find the mirror is too light. Added some blu-tack at the back and the vibration reduced. Will ask SC to solve it because it affects driving safety. Who knows they might recall all insights for replacement of the mirror provided many people make complaint.

Btw, my car just completed the first stage of Econ mode but straight jumped to second mode that is from 10 leaves to 20 leaves after 2592km. It didn't go through stages like adding 11, 12 and so on. Is it normal? However, I can't see any level in the second stage bar.
*
Wow, you complete your first stage with only 2.5k mileage? You must be one good 'eco driver' smile.gif Congrats!

One of member here "Cbinn" already got one.

My kit rear wing is one piece, not 3 like the original one. but i kind of like it in one piece cause easier to clean and looks aerodynamic.

RM1500 for modulo bodykit..is it ok or not?
*
Price ok (moderate la, there are more expensive ones and also cheaper ones too if you google enough), but also must look at workmanship and after sales support.

The way the kit is attached, whether the surface is cleaned properly and primer applied before sticking, how long warranty given and what are the warranty condition, all these are important. You do not want a nice looking kit that you can get at a discounted price to sag or fall off after a slight knock on road bumps.

Anyway, after about a month with my mugen kit on, i already knocked the front lip twice, once on a very high road bump (curse the person who design such a high bump to be there) and another one is on a parking ramp in shopping complex (I came down too fast and brake hard too late causing the front of the car to come too low). Only scratch mark on underneath so not visible unless you crawl under the car. All the doublesided tape attachment and the screw mount are still solid, and luckily enough, it does not damage the original bumper attachment to the car body. Lesson learned, promised myself will not drive the insight like a 4WD tongue.gif

I good thing about kit using ABS material is that the base colour is white too, so even scratches are not that obviously visible. I have a lot of stone chips on my front lip now as I travel extensively on trunk roads with a lot of pebbles and a lot of lorries that stir them up. By the way, this only applicable if your car is white, if you are on dark blue or black, then PU material that have a black base should help to make minor damage like stone chip less obvious.

Anyone installed HID 4300I? Does the output very bluish due to projector headlight?
*
I am using 4300k HID.

It is much brighter than stock halogen bulb. Colour is much whiter, i think stock halogen is around 3300k. But it is not white till blue. If you want white till blue then must be 6500k and above.

Insight is ok to use hid because of the projector lens, so the beam does not stray all over the place like those hid installed on reflective headlamps. And with 4300k which is not too white or blue, you have much lesser chance getting into trouble during roadblock.

I will uninstall the hid set and revert back to stock halogen each time i going to service to avoid excuse to void warranty, just in case.

But then isn't that is too much work? But yes, please get proper 4300K and not those chapalang 4300K, you will end up getting like 6000K pure white.
*
Not too much trouble to uninstall and revert to halogen cause it is kind of plug and play. Just be careful 2 things. Make sure you do not touch and get oily fingerprint onto the bulb surface (that may cause the bulb to explode when in operation later), and make sure the bulb is secured properly onto the projector housing (a dislodged bulb during operation may melt housing and wires and cause fire).

Although the light output is much (about twice) brighter than halogen, because the light on my 4300k hid is also significantly whiter, it works great during good weather condition. However, it is nit that good when it rains and road is wet. Wet road surface is darker in colour (almost complete black) and that causes a lot of white light to be absorbed. In such case, I think yellowish halogen works better for me.

Anyway, another advantage of hid is the 35watt consumption per bulb as compared to 55watt of the stock bulb, so you have 40watt saving in electricity on hid. Not sure how much saving that will turn into petrol consumption, but twice the amount of light with 40watt saving on electricity makes me decide to go hid.

Because of the extra light, I kept the headlight leveling knob to 1 or 2 most of the time in city driving to avoid any glare to opposite traffic just in case.

i see.. cos it might serve as a family car later on, so i think it would be better to let my family seat comfortably as well..

comfortable even for long journey for 4 person. the rear middle seat is ok for short journey and normal height person. anyway, there is not much boot space for luggage for 5 person long journey trip, so i guess the 5th seat was really designed for occasional use.
