Here is your answer...

1: a typical vios/city will get you 14km/l average fuel consumption an Insight will get you 19-25km/l (19 Econ off / 22-25km/l ECON on)

2. Battery do not cost RM7K it cost RM5K at the moment all Insight have 5 years Warranty on Battery but the replacement have only 6 months (consumer need to fight the replacement battery 6 month warranty lifespan) but google around and you will notice Insight battery is actually NIMH D-Cell type battery in serial layout. in US the previous generation of insight have their battery replace by 3rd party and it only cost RM1500 to RM2000 provided the 3 IMA circuit board is in good condition (so just replacement of wear/faulty batteries is RM1,500 t0 RM2,000) they even replace with a better stronger maH battery which provide longer distance per charge smile.gif

3. With insight you get 100% rebate on Import TAX and Duties and this is the actual cost what the manufacturer build that worth... with other car (non hybrid) you pay RM50K in TAX so what you get is RM50K cheaper car build value...

4. you pay 10K and you get Traction Control (a active safety that really really can save your life.... well if your life is worth extra 10K) and you also get Automatic headlight / automatic wipers, 2 tear dashboard meter that only found in civic, 3D display upper tiered panel display.....

for me the VSA/Traction control is worth extra 10K
Thx rclxms.gif Calvin_ng and this piece of info somehow give me more confident to go for hybrid car. but one more thing forte come along with quite good safety features too and cheap as compare to others C segmen car. Do you think Insight still more value to our pocket money as compare to forte? (FYI, before survey Insight, i do consider forte as its cheap with safety feature offered) pls advise notworthy.gif

Achieving above 20km/l is not easy on city driving unless you are driving with a constant decent speed on highway.
You should test drive both the cars rather than just viewing the paper facts..

No i din sked u.. im telling the fact, but u can opt to gear S to switch off the auto engine stop but for me its abit inconvenient everytime shift to S. But overall the car performance is very good especially handling. Overall my consumption is about 19-20km/l (Serdang-KL-Serdang, including traffic jam but i find shortcuts.. =D) Torque is very nice but long distance speeding will spoil ur mood if compare to other muscle cars.. =P

I'm not sure about the rest of you Penangites here (Penang island to be specific). I rarely achieve above 20km/l due to the short distance driving and traffic jams. Averaging 14km/l at most. What is your score?

Jst my 2cents about driving or even owning this car. I have a dyno blue insight sitting in my porch. Fuke cinsumption comoared to my honda city cvt 06 is much better. City gets me 12- 13.5 km/l. Insight gets me 15-17 km/l for the same traffic everyday.coz i travel from damansara jaya to kota damansara around 9 am for class then leave uni around 7 pm for home. Uses LDP in front of BHP and PETRONAS to uni. Using the old SONY route to get back where the usual jam starts when traffic from centre point merges with traffic from d'saara toll..very glad and proud owner here..

Not to scare you. This car doesn't suit to salesman who require travel alot during day time. Compressor and the jerking during frequent auto stop is not a joke.

You will found yourself sweating in the car.

By the way, the aircond design doesn't convenience to passenger at the back. IT DOESN'T BLOW DIRECT TO THE BACK!!!

lol

Suggestion here which i learned from another insighters.. if back got passenger, just turn on the Front Demister, it will blow strongly to the back, guaranteed can feel the cool air but very noisy lar..

Yeah, but too noisy. I have to lower the temperature and change the airblow to manual.

I just direct all the blowers to the ceiling and let the cool air move to the back. Love the blowers as they allow 360 direction of blowing..

Correct me if i am wrong, for other non-hybrid car, when they say can do about 14km/l, that's also only on cruising /non-jam condition rite? under heavy traffic stop and go condition, they also doing somewhere 8 to 10km/l.

so cannot compare insight consumption for city driving directly with optimum cruising non-jam driving of non-hybrid directly.

each car have its own optimum speed / rpm that gives the best fuel consumption. i noticed for insight, my fcd display will get to 25km/l when cruising on flat road at about 80 - 90km/h speed at around 2k rpm (which i assume gearbox at top gear). most of the typical sedan/family car have the best fuel consumption when cruising on flat road around 80-100kmh at rpm around 2 to 2.5k.

not to say you cannot drive faster than that or squeeze more umph out of any car, but power always come at a cost (of course, with an exception that you are driving a solar or wind powered car, if that's available). smile.gif
