Is anyone else here rather underwhelmed by the audio performance on the SGS2? Having come from the iPhone, the audio quality on this phone is significantly worse. The only workarounds seem to be using PowerAmp, which is a paid app. Can't get that, at least not yet. Anyone got any other tips for better audio quality?

Sorry Android feature ( or you can call it a failure ) : Alarms will NOT work if phone is switch off. For this have to use good old Nokia. So far there is no software solution for this

You need ROOT to remove ads using AD Free. Even other solutions removing ads need root as simply such apps/solutions need to access system files. Without root enabled, system files cannot be access

And just use Odin to root - refer page 1 post #5 : Many available solutions - take your pick. It is easy and fast and you can NEVER and UNLIKELY will spoil your phone; the chance you brick/spoil is 1 in a million or more . you must be the most unlucky guy in the world if you brick rooting it. I always quote rooting your phone is turning your builtin 3000 cc sports car engine into reality instead of running it as just a normal 1600 cc car

Can i check if i root the phone, do i need to perform backup for the contact, msg, apps, memo? noted that Titanium backup apps need to root the phone before using it. any other backup apps recommended before i root the phone. thanks

This graph would beg to differ: http://st.gsmarena.com/vv/reviewsimg/samsu...marena_a001.png

As you can see, while the line-out frequency response is stellar, any added resistance sends the response graph all over the place. There's a lot of other details to it, but I won't bore you with them. Basically, with headphones plugged in, the iPhone has much better audio quality than the S2.

Sadly, I'm rather unwilling to lug an amp around with me, however small it might be. I like all-in-one devices. Ah well, since this S2 is awesome in pretty much every other department anyway, I guess I can live with the below average sound quality.

Life is never fair. How we wish we have a perfect 10/10 smartphone with the best from every other brands/os. We just have to temporary accept some deficiency or weakness. If these weakness is important just move on to others that can meet your expectation

I even bought RM450 earphone but it still doesn't satisfied me the only way is to get an AMP.

Its even smaller than the phone hahaha. Fiio E11. RM250. Look it up. You might get one tongue.gif

GH-X, I tried playing FLAC songs on stock un-amped. The quality is bad. Significant difference even if I play songs un-amped on my PC. The only way is to get a headphone amp. They don't come in cheap though. Especially good ones. The Fiio E11 is one of the more budget oriented ones. What earphones are you using?

Yup it's a sad truth that android best phone to date got worse in audio department. I am using denon AH-C710 i had a chance to try Hippo Box AMP and Fiio E11 and i must say i am impress with Hippo Box. Haven't got it yet though but planning to do so soon. Still now i need to carry something extra again which was the reason i bought SGS2 in order to reduce gadget i carry around.

Its roughly 2/3 the size of the SGS2. And it comes with a rubber band thats meant for taping the amp together with any mobile devices.

You can't improve what isn't there. At this stage amplifing a poor signal will just give you a louder poor signal :-P
