You do not need to root or unroot the device to update the firmware.

Please ensure that KIES is closed and not running in the system tray! Kies doesn't like Odin, it's like the big brother who's always jealous that his little brother is getting to flash all the phones so he starts to flash block.

I fully agree with waveweaver posting # 2635 on v11 on the "bluish" tint of the phone., It is definitely NORMAL
Personally i LOVE the slight bluish tint. It makes the phone display more beautiful. I'd say users should be more concerned if you seea yellowish tint and thai is abnormal. A whitish display - OMG , you like it, accept it but it is deem defective !!

As in any new thread, again I will see many repeated questions on ROOTING by new users

Just as a quick summary on rooting before you ask:

1. Rooting will not spoil your phone. Only an idiot /dumb guy will spoil it by rooting. The chance you spoil it is 1 in a million
2. Rooting means warranty void
3. Rooting will not delete/clean any data - it remains intact
4. If you just want to root ONLY:
- Easiest use Supercurio 3
5. If you want root plus clockworkmod recovery: - easiest use Odin flash Chainfire CF Root v4
6. If you want ROOT, Clockwork recovery plus test anew rom WITHOUT wiping your phone: Flash Litening v4.0 and below
7. You can unroot by using SuperoneClick or flashing official stock rom

All these guides are in page 1 post #5

hmm, anyone discovered that our first page faq and to knows are becoming longer and longer? hopefully those funny questions wont be brought up so frequent like the previous thread doh.gif

kokokranc : Your failure in " adb shell" is most probably due to corrupted files on the PC. I have experienced this before. Just try reinstall your ADB using Google SDK or reinstall Samsung USB phone drivers

Thanks Uncle Benny.
I reposted this little article again in this V12 thread for our members benefit and relieved their concern regarding 'my phone screen seems a bit blueish' phenomenon.!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Lifespan : The biggest technical problem for OLEDs was
the limited lifetime of the organic materials. [56] In
particular, blue OLEDs historically have had a lifetime of
around 14,000 hours to half original brightness (five years
at 8 hours a day) when used for flat- panel displays. This
is lower than the typical lifetime of LCD , LED or PDP
technology— each currently rated for about 25, 000 –
40, 000 hours to half brightness, depending on
manufacturer and model. [57][58] However, some
manufacturers' displays aim to increase the lifespan of
OLED displays, pushing their expected life past that of
LCD displays by improving light outcoupling, thus
achieving the same brightness at a lower drive current.
[59][60] In 2007, experimental OLEDs were created which
can sustain 400 cd/m 2 of luminance for over 198, 000
hours for green OLEDs and 62, 000 hours for blue OLEDs.
[61]

Color balance issues: Additionally, as the OLED material
used to produce blue light degrades significantly more
rapidly than the materials that produce other colors, blue
light output will decrease relative to the other colors of
light. This differential color output change will change the
color balance of the display and is much more noticeable
than a decrease in overall luminance. [62] This can be
partially avoided by adjusting colour balance but this may
require advanced control circuits and interaction with the
user, which is unacceptable for some users. In order to
delay the problem, manufacturers bias the colour balance
towards blue so that the display initially has an artificially
blue tint, leading to complaints of artificial- looking, over-
saturated colors. More commonly, though , manufacturers
optimize the size of the R, G and B subpixels to reduce
the current density through the subpixel in order to
equalize lifetime at full luminance. For example, a blue
subpixel may be 100% larger than the green subpixel.
The red subpixel may be 10% smaller than the green .
Efficiency of blue OLEDs: Improvements to the
efficiency and lifetime of blue OLEDs is vital to the success of OLEDs as replacements for LCD technology.
Considerable research has been invested in developing
blue OLEDs with high external quantum efficiency as well
as a deeper blue color. [63][64] External quantum
efficiency values of 20% and 19% have been reported for
red (625 nm) and green (530 nm) diodes, respectively.
[65][66] However, blue diodes (430 nm) have only been
able to achieve maximum external quantum efficiencies
in the range of 4% to 6%. [67]

juz my opinion, i think it would be better if u jz post the link here and highlight the important points out. i dun think those genius will bother reading the whole thing before drawing their brilliant conclusions doh.gif

Yes ; it will be. But sad to say, many new users seldom refer by just looking at the questions posed. Just look at past 2 pages in last thread, many of the questions are answered in FAQ 1 and 2
I have also put in another new post Part 2 on rom flashing ; will reorganized this. The original post does not allow me to post any newer entries and I much material to post. Hope with Part 2 updated, we will see less questions on rooting, kernels, rom flashing
