Thanks Uncle Benny.
I reposted this little article again in this V12 thread for our members benefit and relieved their concern regarding 'my phone screen seems a bit blueish' phenomenon.!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Lifespan : The biggest technical problem for OLEDs was
the limited lifetime of the organic materials. [56] In
particular, blue OLEDs historically have had a lifetime of
around 14,000 hours to half original brightness (five years
at 8 hours a day) when used for flat- panel displays. This
is lower than the typical lifetime of LCD , LED or PDP
technology— each currently rated for about 25, 000 –
40, 000 hours to half brightness, depending on
manufacturer and model. [57][58] However, some
manufacturers' displays aim to increase the lifespan of
OLED displays, pushing their expected life past that of
LCD displays by improving light outcoupling, thus
achieving the same brightness at a lower drive current.
[59][60] In 2007, experimental OLEDs were created which
can sustain 400 cd/m 2 of luminance for over 198, 000
hours for green OLEDs and 62, 000 hours for blue OLEDs.
[61]

Color balance issues: Additionally, as the OLED material
used to produce blue light degrades significantly more
rapidly than the materials that produce other colors, blue
light output will decrease relative to the other colors of
light. This differential color output change will change the
color balance of the display and is much more noticeable
than a decrease in overall luminance. [62] This can be
partially avoided by adjusting colour balance but this may
require advanced control circuits and interaction with the
user, which is unacceptable for some users. In order to
delay the problem, manufacturers bias the colour balance
towards blue so that the display initially has an artificially
blue tint, leading to complaints of artificial- looking, over-
saturated colors. More commonly, though , manufacturers
optimize the size of the R, G and B subpixels to reduce
the current density through the subpixel in order to
equalize lifetime at full luminance. For example, a blue
subpixel may be 100% larger than the green subpixel.
The red subpixel may be 10% smaller than the green .
Efficiency of blue OLEDs: Improvements to the
efficiency and lifetime of blue OLEDs is vital to the success of OLEDs as replacements for LCD technology.
Considerable research has been invested in developing
blue OLEDs with high external quantum efficiency as well
as a deeper blue color. [63][64] External quantum
efficiency values of 20% and 19% have been reported for
red (625 nm) and green (530 nm) diodes, respectively.
[65][66] However, blue diodes (430 nm) have only been
able to achieve maximum external quantum efficiencies
in the range of 4% to 6%. [67]

Wait a second... Isnt the paid android market oredy arrive in Malaysia? Why do we still need to root it and download marketenabler?
*
Surely you got some paid apps in your market? Since our local firmware still haven't receive any official update yet, you have to update it manually. Market enabler is an app for you to gain access in apps/market that are not meant for our region.
Hope this help

Hi, a Korean friend asked if I want to get the SGS2 from Korea. He'll be coming to Msia next month.

Anything particular I should know if I to get it from Korea? Korea also uses our GSM system, right?

Thanks for your feedback
*
Here is a quote by some Korean friend :-

Pulverizer

I lived in south korea and i' m korean.
Our country provide WCDMA /CDMA service. smile.gif
WCDMA Band cairrer are below.
SKTelecom (2100 Mhz)
Korea Telecom (2100 Mhz)
CDMA band carrier is below
LG U+ (1800 Mhz)
But, Our local galaxy s radio band spec is poor then EU
galaxy s2.
<< Korea Galaxy S2 Network support >>
Double band UMTS 900/2100
Triple band GSM 900/1800/1900
<< EU Galaxy S2 band Network support>>
Quad band GSM 850/900/1800/1900
Quad band UMTS 850/900 /1900/2100
Yeah, Our korean prefer TDMB(TV Service) then multiple
band support.
So it will occur H/w problem occur and samsung select
some frequencies killed.
The main critical issue is
if you purchased in our SKT galaxy S 2 model (SHW -
M250 S),
may be you can' t receive MMS. because our carrier
SKTelecom using
their own MMS format. (SK -MMS )
Most of world using OMA- MMS.
So it will occur many sms , mms problems.
and our service porvider (SKT , KT) they enjoyed add a many
many bloat ware.(Service program).
it will occur a tons of system hang and reset problem.
As a result, i recommend that if you purchased galaxy s2,
wait a your country' s carrier galaxy s2 ( like captivate or
fascinate) nor buy the EU galaxy s2.
So, I can' t recommend our korea' s galaxy s2 .
I' ll buy a EU Galaxy s2.
MustWarnothers

Seems Korea have a few different carrier/bandhertz.
Better check carefully first your intended phone spec :-)

This is your second quote about PURE WHITE screen.
The first one is how you wish you had a PURE WHITE screen on your phone.

QUOTE(ltwvince @ Aug 20 2011, 12:11 PM)
That is what I'm trying to say. Slight blueish is acceptable. The right unit has too much blue.

Now you contradict your wishes. Slight blue acceptable.! And i had said all along from the first time that SGSII screen is slightly blueish coz Samsung dump more blue pixel into the screen in order for lasting longer. It's normal for Godness sake.!!

I just want a screen same as the left one. Period.
*
Good for you..!! Now you becoming rational. Yes i agree, get the phone with a screen same as the left one coz it's normal to be slightly blueish.

P/S - Don't get the right one coz like destEX said it's blue shit. And please don't wait for the PURE WHITE screen one coz it wont happen till the end of the world :-P
Cheers dude...~weaver OUT~

my APN is provided by DIGI which is diginet
i'll try and check using 3gdgnet

as for network discovery, u can watch the vid
i set it to auto from wcdma only
*
Try what Uncle Benny advice you first. The reason try to change your telco network is to eliminate the possibilities of phone hardware/software defect. It is not necessarily because your former telco is not good.! If TWO different telco simcard bring you the same result then 99% chances are your phone had defect and better go for replacement.
If all the sudden your phone can be used after you change your telco, that's mean something wrong with either your DiGi simcard or your phone setting.
If this happen, instead of going to Samsung Service Centre now you had to go to DiGi Service Centre for checkup.
And NO, no need trying flash any custom rom. This kind of problems need to be solve in the your original stock firmware. Except on certain condition like camera pink spot, custom roms can be considered cosmetic changes only. In other word, to enhance and customize to suit your need. And that will only come if your basic firmware/hardware is in good condition.
Hope this help

the opera and blank page problem can be seen in my vid
as per what u said, i dont do rooting or roms
smile.gif

i uninstalled and re-installed both opera mini and mobile
still no flash
*
Watching your videos really eating a crap of my data :-)
Ok back to the problems. Firstly you must know that Opera still haven't support full Flash. It only have Flash Lite. In other word, certain videos cannot be played at all or not fluidly.
Secondly, any data downloaded from website was sent to Opera server first for compression THEN only it sent to the phone. There are times when this Opera server going timeout. Meaning no data can be sent. That's when you get blank space and if you're lucky enough you will get notice stating 'no connection to server'.
If you like streaming and watching videos, my advice is for you to try other browser like Skyfire and Dolphin where Flash player is fully supported. But truthfully, your stock browser is more than capable to handle all this video bussiness.
BTW, try to open only one browser at a time. Though our phones have two cores doesn't meant it can handle two browsers simultaneously. :-P

actually i believe some problem will solve after firmware upgrade..since malaysia stil at KF1, you need to wait for SME to release other latest firmware ...for some ppl, they cannot wait, and just flash the latest update...but since most of the custom ROM are build with latest firmware, so that's why most of the advise point to custom ROM..can always use stock firmware..
*
The TRUTH is, if your phone have firmware/hardware defect while its still in original condition then wouldn't it better to have a new replacement?
Maybe lets say, you had a motherboard or hw acceleration problem/defect and it makes your stock browser stuttering. You flash a custom rom that tweak the stock browser and make it faster. Yes, it's faster but it doesn't mean your motherboard/hw acceleration defect solved. It still there because it was broken in the first place. The tweak on the custom rom just cover this broken things and makes it seems mended.
The problems might comes again later if you change to other rom that haven't had that same tweak. Or worst, that problems that seems cured all this while rupa2nya make your motherboard makin teruk in the background.!!
So why we take this unknown chances? Better save than sorry is what i would had done.
Just saying :-P

So besides flashing the rom, is there a way to fix the ringing tone of 1 sec soft then only loud problem, wit the stock rom? Im still learning bout android so dun wan to flash the new phone just yet. Just that its abit weird that the phone doesnt ring loud immediately and requires bout a second to go loud LOL.
*
I dont think there is a way to fix the problems while you still in stock rom :-)
Most probably Samsung purposely make such this way in order to -
1) Give you chance/time to reject a call while the ringing still soft.
2) Not to make you terkejut with a straight loud ringing especially when you just got up from bed (early morning)
3) Encourage you to learn new thing such as rooting and flashing :-P

Yeah, that should be the way. Just relax and enjoy the learning curve in using/familiarize your SGSII.

What you will see in this thread is people who have problems with their phones or unhappy about something on their S2.
Those who are happy about their phones will just keep quiet, not post anything or just reading all the posts here.

Of course if you use this thread as a benchmark then the problematic phones are plenty vs. those without any problems.
*
Yes., agreed.
Sometimes some of these so called problems are not exactly a problems at all. Like a bit lag on wake up OR the slow then loud ringing tones OR the network signal that keep on changing between 3G and H/H+ OR even :ahem:bluish screen:ahem :-)
All of this like Uncle Benny said, are actually SGSII own unique feature. The phone was design that way. And yet a lot of unhappy ppl screams saying their phone got problems.
Well, nothing is perfect i guess :-P
