About 250,000 I think. Whatever type of activity/function you can find in appstore, you can find in market. The thing I like best about market is that when you find an app that does what you want, there's a much higher likelihood that there's a free (ad-supported) fully functional version.

SIA very volatile, for dividend play maybe can check out starhub / singpost / sph they pay gd dividends yearly ard 5%-6%

QUOTE(seantang @ Sep 6 2011, 12:52 AM)
I picked up a couple of lots at $12 just after ex-dividend (thinking it was just a knee jerk reaction) and then the next day... the whole global stock market piang. Hoping it would get back to $11.50 or so to cut loss and re-enter later. But it never got there.

Maybe if it touches $10... I might pick up some more to average down. Luckily this counter is a decent dividend payer, so the paper loss doesn't hurt as much even if you hold.

If you want pure dividend play then why not buy REIT?
Better than yr starhub/singpost/etc.
More stable cashflow especially those shopping mall ones.

reit is not as stable as it sounds. fundamentally it may be stable, but an easy 10% drop in market price, will wallop your 2 year yield. the price of reit is more volatile than ppl theoretically thought reit shd be.

yes, singpost is one good dividend play with more stable price. its price does not move as volatile as reit.

Market price of what?
If the reits assets i.e. the buildings (especially commercial reit play i.e. shopping centres) are located in prime area (suntec, orchard) there is very little risk that the market price for rental will drop. At worst it will remain stable i.e. no up no down. Commercial property in prime area is always in demand irregardless of the economic disposition.

I was referring to share market price.
On the property valuation done here is on the high side, especially seller (promoter) will thrashed their into reits are at most positive timing/pricing and best rental yield.
Once there is a negative outlook in economies, which does affect demand for rental or outlets, especially those with foreign brands, which may pull out or cut down on stores here, this will screw up rental yield and eventually valuation (reasonably done at that time with questionable sensitivity analysis) will screw up as well.
Hence, wat im trying to say is reit are indeed "volatiled" by economies, as opposed to theoretically property investment is a safe investment, hence is kinda immune to economies in general.
Please note, I'm note trying to generalise and say reit are no good investment, but dun assume reits are a good classification for your slow and steady portfolio.

agreed with aloong reits can form part of your portfolio but dun vest everything in reit, cos usually reit has high gearing ( huge loan to service) if econmic down trend, office will be the first to kenna.

singpost is counter a lot of ppl vested in cos it's stable & not as violate, also provide good dividends ard 5%-6% yearly.

How about Genting? worth to enter now?

everyday i see the market so many ppl trading this share with volume exceeds 11billion for today for instance.

for me, I still believe in SIA with a minimum of $1 dividend per share per annum.

Can clarify further wat "access card to pass the custom easier"?
I only know u just need the permit and the passport to pass thru the custom.
If ur a EP holder, u can just use your passport go thru the auto machine.
Good to carry your permit together though, just in case.

Employment Pass. Long story short, it's a document that allows you to work in Singapore legally.

You get any of those cakes with the egg in the middle. Its disgusting and i usually give it to my other colleagues, those and the ones with lotus seeds in them. I usually trade them for a cup of coffee.
