Mind to explain more on single or multiple entries? From my understanding, single entry means I can only enter Sg 1 time with the visa, and next time the visa can no longer being used even it is not expired, whereby multiple entries mean I could enter Sg as many times as I could within the permitted period.
*
Eh...my mistake.
Refer to rexona's reply.
Confused already. laugh.gif laugh.gif

Malaysians no need Visa.
No. Once you have the IPA that means is approved liao. You just go and do fingerprinting and collect card.
*
QUOTE(deodorant @ Aug 25 2011, 12:36 PM)
Hmmmmmm. Over at the travel&living section there are people saying they could enter with < 6 months as visitor but with some additional steps - apparently a senior immigration officer had to come over and approve his entry. But that is visitor lah ... for WP holders ... dunno whether it applies. My passport validity period is like 8 months now, guess I gotta plan a trip to KL or JB to renew.
*
Well, my housemate tried that after hearing some of his colics doing it with 2 months validity left on the passport. laugh.gif laugh.gif
Still, it is a risk which you will decide whether it is worth or not.

Btw, has anyone been going through the m'sian immigration via causeway?
That day I went through without having to scan my thumb...meaning anyone with my passport can actually enter m'sia. sweat.gif sweat.gif
Then when I came back sg, there was something wrong with the system on m'sian side (i think), and the officers just let EVERYONE walk pass at the autogate side
You can even walk pass actually if you are a foreigner since they did not bother to check the passport.
So technically, according to m'sian system, I might still be in m'sia. doh.gif doh.gif

SO i guess yr all for foreign brides?  wink.gif  Vietnam? Thai? China these days also very materialistic.....

Not all men go for foreign brides, many men (and women) opt to remain single although their reasons for doing so differ.

Hence, an aging population and a declining birth rate in Singapore.

Me now work in an investment bank. Yah, agree that Malaysian will face a lot of competition with Chinese and Indian migrants in Sg for jobs. Have been trying to apply jobs in the first few months after received the EPEC, but I got a job offer from the bank in KL and later start to be very busy in work so I put aside my job search in Sg.

Then I received the reminding email from the MOM and sparked my interest to search job in Sg again, maybe this time I should have come and stay in Sg directly since I am permitted (with EPEC) to stay in Sg for 12 months.
*
Just to ask, what are the benefits of getting an EPEC?

From my understanding it allows foreigner to stay in SG for a year without a job with the intention of looking for a job.

But does it help in securing a job itself?

By having an EPEC, does it mean when you found a job, it gives the employer the comfort that your Employment pass will most likely be approved by MOM?

Actually, to be fair to them, I wouldn't use that degratory remarks on them. I spoke to a few of them (single, gorgeous looking singaporean women) and while yes, they do try very hard to "hook" rich guys but in their perspective, its only fair. I mean every girl irregardless of nationality would want a husband/bf who have the means to give them a good life, right?

Put yrself in their shoes. i mean if yr a stunningly gorgeous girl, why in the world would you settle for some mediorcre guy when you can get a prince. Love and all that only last for so long. After you are married for 10-15 years, all the "love" will start to fade and reality will set in i.e. is there enough money for kids, tuition, electricity, food, rent, etc. If you married a rich guy at least you don't worry about all these mundane things. And SG is not a cheap country to live in. SO in a way i don't blame them. I can only strive to make myself and my family a better living.
*
The problem is a lot of them are not stunning at all.
I'm sure we all heard that "they" have high expectation. (Sorry Washabushi, I'm just generalising here)
It was discussed on the 95.0FM radio once. Even the locals agreed.
One of my colleague (one of "them") asked me, does this means Msian have low expectations? I took the wiser choice and shut up.
It's not the matter of comparing high or low, it's a matter of "reasonable expectation". "They" must know wer they are and where they should be looking. Unfortunately, girls with education/ high ranking/ good career is not that important to guys, as compared to the other way round.

IT is nothing wrong for wanting someone who is better, rich, handsome and single. It is not degratory statement as they are mostly materialistics women out there if compare to plain kampung gals. So, in Singapore, it is more such women out there (percentage wise).  biggrin.gif
*
Unfortunately, kampong gals is as good (if not better) than city gals. They fail (or never wanted) to realise that.

I have friends working in Sg but most of them are in non-financial field, so I don't really have much close connections who work in banking/financial sector. Of course, I got friend's friends who are working in IB or banks, but since I am not close to them so I would try my effort 1st before I become desparate.

ur potential connections just hinted to you. good luck thumbup.gif

I recalled I had posted something on EPEC in this thread last year
http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=35880957
"..And i oso got the EPEC approved by MOM on last week as well. However, getting EPEC doesn't grant me a right to stay long period in SG and this is not what i understood initially . EPEC only opens a door for me to apply long-term social permit and i oso need a sponsor who is citizen or PR or working in SG..."

http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=35885117
"...In the EPEC letter tat i receive stated:"...The holder may, after arrival in Singapore, apply to the Visitor Service Centre, Immigration & checkpoints Authority for a longer term Social Visit Pass, valid for up to 12 months to enable him/her to seek employment...". Based on the said statement, i think EPEC holder needs to apply the long term social visit permit to stay in SG for 12 months. Whereby normal entry to SG, Malaysians is eligible to stay in SG no more than 14 days, not 30 days as mentioned by cks2k2, unless the visitor would like to extend to stay more than 14 days n needs to apply to immigration for the approval of short term social visit pass.

in addition, at the back of the EPEC letter, there r qualifying notes as stated below:-
(1) The applicant named overleaf is eligible for an Employment Pass if he/she:
(a) secures full-time employment in a company of good standing in Singapore:
(b) is not engaged in a low-value added occupation (e.g. manual worker);
© submits an application for Employment Pass together with original or certified copies of educational certificates;
(d) is not on Government agencies' adverse record.

so based on the abovementioned notes, i think the EPEC holder can get EP easier than those without an EPEC (of course it's still not guarantee)..."

EPEC holder can get EP easier than those without an EPEC could be due to the profile of EPEC holder have been verified by the MOM before he/she applies for EP.

Thanks for the long explanation.
Looks like in current environment it may be advantage to get an EPEC, due to a lot of incidents (as posted in this thread) where companies/applicant have issues getting their EP. So getting an EPEC would give such comfort, though not guarantee.
I dun think the long term visiting ability would be much of an advantage, cos most ppl will not incur huge expenses to stay here, while waiting for job replies. Johor will be much cheaper. Heck, even ppl working in SG, likes to stay in Johor and become a JB king too.

Indeed I am more familiar about Sg than JB since I had come to holiday, study and work in Sg previously, and I don't really know where to get cheap accomodation in JB sweat.gif .

Yah, since it's free no harm to get one, just register online and will know the result within few days. But no guarantee of getting the EP since it is approved by MOM in discretion with case by case basis.

Btw, MOM gave any specific reason why the one with EPEC still being rejected for his/her EP application hmm.gif ?

Like Ivan said, mostly very general reasons given. but indeed inconsistencies is seen. maybe change of internal policies / change of government direction, which is quite a reasonable excuse/reason.
