I thought several people mentioned about GST waiver in UOB, HSBC and Citibank threads. Just search gst waiver and see what you get.

To All: did you guys notice that Citi no longer sponsoring this section (???)

haha, maybe the fee is too expensive already.

I wonder how much LYN charge them. And I wonder if they willing to sponsor my blog for half price (now they advertising for free at my blog with google ads), hahaha.

Yes. Like a few seconds ago when i saw this post of yours   biggrin.gif   I guess they found many unfavourable comments about their credit cards here hence the withdrawal of the sponsorship   sweat.gif   Anyway, just a wild guess.

By the way, i told them they should look into Maybank and OCBC credit cards when they called me to ask me a few questions about their credit card just two days ago   biggrin.gif   I told the guy Maybank gives me 5x TP whenever i use my MBB2 AMEX and the guy was like... wah!!! 5 times ah ??   laugh.gif
*
I don't think it is our unfavourable comments since what we mentioned are facts wink.gif Moreover, my last post in my blog was favourable to Clear Card. More like maybe they got instructions from HQ to cut cost in order to boast profit and hopefully their share don't go back to USD10.00 (since they have combined 10 shares into 1) whistling.gif

Next time you speak to Citi again, ask him to pass message to CC Dept boss if they need our help to create the ultimate CC tongue.gif

I did the same thing when I called them up a couple of weeks back. They were stumped by how much their product lag behind their competitor.
And yes, they proudly mentioned that points are 2x with their cards when used overseas and I replied MBB cards are 5x.

They were speechless. shocking.gif
Can't blame them if they withdraw sponsorship for this thread. At least it goes to show that we are vendor neutral bunch of guys.

LOL. I think the guy is from a company called callop or caleb something. They are doing a survey on behalf of Citibank. Actually, it wasn't just a few questions. He asked me many different questions and i needed to grade them. The whole process took 13 minutes 25 seconds. I was also asked if i'd recommend Citibank credit card to other people and i said i'm neutral on that. At the end, he asked if it's ok to include my real name (no, i didn't have to tell him my name over the phone because he already knows my name) when they submit the survey back to Citibank or i'd prefer to do it anonymously smile.gif

I'm not aware of the 2x points. Which card gives 2x points for overseas use ? Their regular platinum credit card ?

Miles, what was the telephone number? Just curious.

And I'm also not aware that Citi got 2X points for overseas. Even if it does, still cannot beat MBB's rate for overseas where we also earn 1X TP.

See you guys next weekend, going for holiday smile.gif

Actually when I said that, I wasn't thinking much and sure whether it is right or not blush.gif
Dunno why I have that impression of the 2x.

Either way, they are not 5x! Seems Citibank is now attempting to come back with 5x although selectively.
MBB2 cards still wins with the rebate and 5x general points multiplier. (And attractive forex conversion if want to throw that in)

good to hear that citibank is taking the feedback from all their customers. Its not hard for them to come out with better cards and benefits since their main business is credit card.

Any of you had any prior experience booking a room through Hotelclub.com ? May i know in what currency they are going to bill us ? Say for hotel booking in South Korea ? Is it going to be in KRW or USD ? And what if we choose to view the rate in MYR ? Thanks in advance!
Let me answer this question myself tongue.gif

I booked a room through Hotelclub and was billed RM2857.62, the exact amount quoted to me in MYR in the checkout page. There was no currency conversion at all. Should i have known this earlier, i would have charged the room to my Citibank VISA instead of Maybank VISA doh.gif

Anyway, the booking was made just 2 days ago and when i went back to the website this morning, the rate has gone down a bit to just RM2816.50. It means that i overpaid RM41.12 vmad.gif

Whenever you choose to book a room through Hotelclub, always choose MYR as your default currency. You'll notice that their MYR rate is lower than the rate quoted in USD or Korean Won (in my case).

For example, when i checked the room rate this morning, i was quoted RM563.30/night for a Deluxe Room at Sheraton Seoul in October. However, if i choose to see the room rate in USD, it is US$189.14 while in Korean Won, i was quoted KRW205,584. No matter how good the exchange given by Maybank is, you won't get the same MYR rate quoted by Hotelclub.

Yeah, the 5x points are applicable only for spending at selected places. It used to be a promotion or something but now it is a permanent feature of their cards (just the regular Gold & Platinum cards).

The 2x points for overseas spending is not a permanant feature of Citibank Platinum credit cards. It did give 2x points for overseas transactions but the feature has since been withdrawn. Anyway, Citibank cards do not attract me at all. It is sad to see Citibank, used to be the most popular credir card issuers in Malaysia, is deteriorating nowadays.

HI guys,

Im new to this thread and am considering to get my first card. I have been eyeing Maybank 2 Platinum cards and Citibank Cash Back Platinum + Citibank AirAsia Gold. My annual income is slightly more than RM60k. I will be using the card primarily for gas (preferably petronas), and weekend shopping + good food + movies. From time to time, I'll also be using it for travel overseas.

Which of the two cards would you guys be recommending?

Thanks.

If you can read Chinese, here's the link.

Besides that, there was a full page report on the news about CIMB's interest in MBF card business in a local newspaper last week.

think it is more like competing with Citibank to have the largest cardholder base in Malaysia. Not to mention MBF also has a sizable merchant network

Hi all, I'm thinking of applying a Public Bank Visa Classic credit card for traveling to Netherlands next month.

Other than the annual fee and RM50 GST, is there any charges if I don't use the CC? I prefer to pay by cash and will probably use the CC only during travel.

Usually there is no other charges when not using the card provided you paid fully any outstanding amount, except the GST and annual fee (if any)
