QUOTE(btjwsk @ May 26 2011, 03:28 PM)
I want to know if anyone can help me on this.
My credit card application was rejected for no apparent reason given.
I have cleared and double-check both my CCRIS and CTOS report (even they are puzzled why is this so).
I am earning about RM 150K per annum and I am trying to apply Visa Signature cards.

Please do help and suggest any other means to obtain financial reports or credit score reports.

Thanks

Wong

Sometimes, clean CCRIS and CTOS records do not guarantee your card application approval. You may have busted the bank's MUE and failed the utilisation ratio test.

What's MUE and utilisation ratio test ?
*
It's all about credit exposure and risk.

MUE = Maximum unsecured exposure
Utilisation ratio = Outstanding balance vs CL

What is up with StanChart??? 0.5% -> 0.3% (RM100 cap) -> 0.5% all happening in less than 1 month ...
*
It's really funny. It has now gone back to 0.5% cash back. I guess they received too many complaints and cancellations. For those who have just cancelled the card, good luck to you.

Actually when I said that, I wasn't thinking much and sure whether it is right or not  blush.gif
Dunno why I have that impression of the 2x.

The 2x points for overseas spending is not a permanant feature of Citibank Platinum credit cards. It did give 2x points for overseas transactions but the feature has since been withdrawn. Anyway, Citibank cards do not attract me at all. It is sad to see Citibank, used to be the most popular credir card issuers in Malaysia, is deteriorating nowadays.

If you can read Chinese, here's the link.

Besides that, there was a full page report on the news about CIMB's interest in MBF card business in a local newspaper last week.

Hi~

Let's say I going oversea for jobs, is it advisable apply multinational bank cc here in malaysia?

Or we can apply at oversea?
*
If you are qualified then it would be better to apply for the card in the country that you are going to work in. It is because all expenses in overseas made via credit cards issued in Malaysia will be charged an additional fee of between 0.5% and 2.5%.

To get an instant guaranteed credit card in overseas, you can first enroll into HSBC Premier programme in Malaysia by maintaining RM200,000 or more in your Total Relationship Balance (deposit and/or investment accounts). HSBC in overseas will be willing to issue you a credit card.

Early this year I went to BNM to print a copy of my credit report and I was surprised to notice that my previous 3 credit cards with Alliance Bank which had already been cancelled for years were still shown in the credit report. I immediately made a complaint to Alliance Bank who purposely did not cancel the cards even though I had requested to terminate the 3 cards through written letters and cancellation via branch. One week after my complaint, I receive 3 separate letters from Alliance Bank stating the cards have been cancelled with immediate effect.

This afternoon I went to BNM to get the latest copy of my credit report. And finally, the previous 3 cards with Alliance Bank are no longer in the credit report. I urge those ex-Alliance cardholders to check the record at BNM, as most of the time the cunning Alliance Bank would not officially cancel your cards although you have requested for card cancellation.

As compared to other banks like MBB and SCB, my Amex Gold credit card and SCB Preferred WMC which were cancelled in April this year had instantly been removed by the banks and were not shown in my latest credit record.

I called up RHB to cancelled my Visa Plat this week since I'm going to withdraw some funds thus having less than RM200K with them as required for PB.  Just got a call from them asking me to keep the card because the card is free for life for my case shocking.gif the guys said their system shows the card no annual fees until 2048  shocking.gif  shocking.gif  even if I don't have the minimum amount stated to be eligible for PB rclxms.gif Not only that, GST will be waived every year  shocking.gif  shocking.gif  shocking.gif  Don't know if it is true or not but it's a very very good offer  rclxm9.gif  so keeping the card  biggrin.gif

No B&W. Better take it with a pinch of salt. Anyway, the following years will give us the answer.

If you are existing MBB WMC cardholders, you should be able to get pre-approved MBB VI. My colleague noticed MBB VI in his M2U, and he holds MBB WMC.

wah, like that ah, suddenly comes a card that require RM50k spending to get AF waiver  ohmy.gif

You will receive 10,000 TPs unpon card activation, which can be used to redeem the RM50 service tax. If you do not need the card, you can call MBB to cancel the card right away since it is only a pre-approved card.

As for the case of CIMB WMC and VI's minimum CL, i know a friend who has 60k CL, therefore effectively reducing the minimum CL of this card to <100k smile.gif
*
I know one of my colleagues, who is not CIMB Preferred Banking customer, owns CIMB WMC with a CL of RM70,000 only. I saw his statement before as I tried to compare the forex rate of our cards for our overseas trip.

Proven then CIMB has decided to lower the minimum CL for its generic CIMB DA WMC and VI..
*
No, I should have made it clear just now. He requested the bank to reduce the CL instead.

Standard Chartered Preferred World Mastercard for its Preferred Banking customers. Min annual income of 72k or AUM RM 72k above.
*
You do not really need to become SCB Preferred Banking customer in order to get SCB Preferred WMC. However, if you apply for this WMC without becoming SCB Preferred Banking customer, the WMC you get will only earn x1 Choice Point, not x1.5 or x2 Choice Points.

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Nov 12 2011, 12:34 AM)
As for SCB WMC, I think winner did mention somewhere he is going to cancel it. Not much benefits I guess.
*
I had terminated it early this year, after keeping the card for 4 months only. Its benefit sucks! I applied for it because I wanted unlimited cash back (2 Choice Points actually) for a big swipe.

QUOTE(Human Nature @ Nov 12 2011, 12:54 AM)
You are right, I cant see what is the direct SCB Preferred WMC (2x points for spending >RM1500 per month) benefit over the normal SCB Business Plat (1x points + 0.5% cashback).
*
You can make redemption at a deep discount. I redeemed 2 Samsonite luggages with small points only, about 70% lower than the normal points requirement. Also, you can get some discounts at Starwood hotels. Anyway like I mentioned before, its benefit in overall is just not attractive.
