I have been hearing friends say that if you spend smartly, you could beat the system by not paying a cent's interest while redeeming goodies through cashbacks. Is this true? Can I use my credit card without paying interest? How does that work? By paying back the next day or what?

Clear whatever you swiped before statement due date.

Use accumulated points to offset RM 50 GST if necessary. Annual fee can be waived depending on situation and the CC T&C.

Hi all, I'm thinking of applying a Public Bank Visa Classic credit card for traveling to Netherlands next month.

Other than the annual fee and RM50 GST, is there any charges if I don't use the CC? I prefer to pay by cash and will probably use the CC only during travel.

will suggest you to apply for maybank creditcard, which comes with lowest foreign transaction fee

which credit card can waive RM50 GST ? Thanks ya....

Currently , holding CIMB Petronas Credit card . Is it possible to WAIVE RM 50 GST with this card ?

If got a supplementary Platinum card from dad, I enjoyed the same benefit also ? eg. 5% all rebate on petrol etc ?
RM 25, I need to pay for supplementary card ?

Who is doing the payment for supplementary card?

there's no such card as can waive 50 gst completely
some do offer point reward system, u can use the point to offset your GST

principle will be paying for supplementary card if not mistaken
since both also share the same credit limit

Thanks guys, so the bank will not reduce the credit limit or terminate my card even if I don't use it right?

Oh and thanks for the info about Maybank CC for the lower foreign exchange rate smile.gif

Just bear in mind, you don't use your card GST is still chargeable. And in some cases this also reduces your bargaining power for AF waiver.
Don't want to use card then don't apply it in the first place unless you are very magnanimous and wish to make a kind donation to the government.

Understood. It's not like every month I have to use card if I'm not spending much. Just making sure there's nothing like monthly fee or bank TOC to terminate card if inactive for more than 2 months. smile.gif

You do go to the cinema, shop at the shopping centre and eat outside once in a while right ? So, once you get your credit card, do not use cash. Charge everything to your credit card instead in all the places that accept credit card. The bank is rewarding you by giving you either reward point which you will need to accumulate to redeem for anything stated in their rewards catalogue or cash back whenever you use your credit card. You get nothing if pay by cash. Be a smart consumer tongue.gif

Yea, guess I'll do that but now's there a problem...

I just found out that Maybank requires annual income of at least RM30k to apply for classic. My salary is only RM2100 (not excluding EPF & Sosco) so I guess that's impossible for me.

I thought the minimum requirement was only 24K per year?

That's the minimum requirement set by the BNM. It is not wrong for the banks to set it higher for their products.
And these days it is more administrative costs for the banks to acquire customers within the RM24k-30k range due to the additional requirements set by BNM.

Guys, previously I own a EON bank CC,now EON already became part of HLB and I don't see EON bank anymore on the road. So if I go HLB to pay my EON Bank CC outstanding amount, can I still pay the credit card outstanding amount over there ?

Just now I received my statement from PBB. I noticed got 1 transaction which is FAILED on that day and on the same day the CS also called me up is it I use it for online transaction and he told me we cannot proceed. Fine,I accept it then I use other credit card to buy my item from website. End up today the statement stated the transaction went thru which I don't even know it. Called up the CS and she asked me to fill up the dispute form and I have to need to wait up to 6 weeks to 8 weeks. I very unhappy with the answer which is the transaction didn't go thru and charged me ! vmad.gif

How the bank gonna handle it ?

Be patient, bank will handle the case for you if you summit all the supporting document and the dispute form. The bank will contact the online merchant for investigation.

Subjective because the answer changes to what you want. Are you aware that a typical redemption catalogue have hundreds of items ?
