Hi,

Having problem to apply credit card. My annual income is RM 36k +, with borang E, any other supporting document.

The problem is the Public Bank reject my application.

Is there any other bank able to accept my application with the supporting document i gave above? I dun mind any bank credit card, as long my credit card to approve.

As usual, there are some standard questions such as:
- do you have any previous bank/personal/education loan ?
- have you been a guarantor before ?
- have you do some checking at BNM CCRIS ?
- have you tried other banks CC ?

Public Bank's risk assessment and approval criteria is rather strict for credit card application. Thus the application rejections might signal something wrong with your personal financial risk profile.

- Do you hold other cards ? and if yes, what and who are the card issuers ?
- Are you blacklisted ?
- How much is your total debt exposure ?
- Have you guaranteed someone else before ?
- Have you checked with CTOS / CCRIS before ?
- What sort of credit card did you attempt to apply with Public Bank ?

It does not mean going to another bank your application will be approved. All banks practice similar risk management when profiling an individual credit worthiness.

I dun have any card holder with other bank, still fresh...only have debit card.
Clean record, loan payment pay on time.
No guaranteed anyone else.
CTOS only check for Telco only, for CC havent check.
That staff at public bank choose for me, I think is monthly min swap 1 time, then will waive annual fees.
I don mind get any credit card, as i able to settle my payment in time

moshimaruu,

My wild guess is, with your car + house loan in your name (if you don't mind to share the loan amount here), already exceed one-third (1/3) of your 36k annual income. Therefore, PBB being a more cautious bank on CC, determine that your credit line is red-flag.

I just applied for UOB One card. Do I send the original or photocopy of payslips? No EPF statement so I'm planning to send last 3 months payslips.

Also, should I cross out the IC photocopy with "for UOB One card application"? Scared it will be rejected if I cross out.

Yup ... I think so too. And the fact the card is about to be used for installment could indicated liquidity issues as well.Well, PBB was not wrong to red-flag if this info is true. Don't get me wrong @moshimaruu, I'm trying to be upfront coz I see no point painting the world

Just to share which banks who are likely to red-flag as well. PBB, OCBC, HSBC.
And for first time applicants of credit card will probably take longer too.

But previously PBB offer me CC as long i maintain my car. but i late reply my answer to them, after one month, i try apply back to them, but so far do have any response for them too.

My installment for house loan is OCBC, car loan only is PBB.

Should i apply for CIMB or CITIBANK? is it easier?

Since you have a mortgage with OCBC, try to get their OCBC Titanium MasterCard. This card can save you up to RM600/pa.

To ALL: I was at Macau last few days and only used my MBB Plat MC. And you know what, there were two places where I can choose either to swipe in MYR or MOP based on MC conversion rate.

And how was the rate ? The one quoted to me at Pageone bookstore at Taipei 101 back in January is so high.

The rate was 2.6 MOP/RM, not to bad I guess because that's what I also use when I convert using my phone calculator, haha. But in the end opted for MOP instead of RM.
