True. Even zoom in and out also make noise. Can't blame it though because it's made primarily for still photography. To remedy this shortcoming, get an external mic and place it farther away from the lens via bracket.

Not when you focus manually lol

With the small on board LCD, it's quite difficult to get accurate manual focus. Unless you have larger external LCD monitor.

Guys, need to check with you guys.
I am using D90 and just bought a copy of Tokina 11-16 brand new.
Anyone of you experience backfocus issue on this lens?
Do you guys return it or it's normal for D90?

G is replacement of D version.
D version cant auto-focus in D3100 and D5100 body. while G can auto focus on all body.
G is better than D of course because replacement. but how much better i duno because i dun have that lens XD

If you're talking about AUTO-FOCUS in video, then of course, it's due to the lens.

I guess the person who complain or write the statement about the noise need to understand it first. If Canon offers auto-focus for video, it most probably have same issue.

With kit lens, you should have less problem with manual focus anyway, especially if you're using smaller aperture and more if you're on wider angle.
But anyway, you'll get a hang of it after a while; Plus, you'll most probably want to manual focus because the auto-focus might not always focus on what you want or it may keep try to acquire focus during recording and it can be annoying.

Manual focus in video is far easier than manual focus shooting stills.

The extra RM300 really worth it. D5100 technically gives u D7000 picture due to same sensor.

"OK, basic facts first.

Auto-Focus will work if EITHER body OR lens has motor built-in.

In your situation, your D7000 HAS motor built-in.

Therefore, EITHER G (with motor) OR D (without motor) will WORK on your DSLR with AUTO-FOCUS.

So, you're not worried about getting the G or D.

And if you're asking why people still recommend G even thou you could have get the cheaper version D, it's because G is able to provide sharper image compared with the D. Nothing to do with the motor built-in, but because G has a better glass construction."

"The Nikon D5100 has exactly the same sensor and stellar technical image quality as the D7000.

The D5100 differs in being smaller, lighter, less expensive and having far fewer buttons.

The pictures are the same, while the D7000 has a nicer finder, spiffier AF system, more direct-input controls, and more weight and a tougher build.

If you just want great photos, just get the D5100.

The differences aren't technical; they're all about the critical human-interface."

If really like this, then go for the D5100?

Basically, the same image quality just the D7000 being better in all other aspects except weight, price and articulating screen.

Its like D90 and D300 back then, same sensor quality just different AF system and also body build, buttons etc.

Ohh I see, thanks btw. And thanks to others who replied too. So this means that either D or G will work well on a Nikon D90 body right?
