Ok, just an example. I wanted to send my polo tsi back in to claim warranty cuz of the juddering gearbox whixh is definately 99% due to the clutch.

But due to VW SOP they need to go thru the standard diagnostic test. Then only they can replace. That one oso see whether got stock ! So SA told me to leave my car thr for 3 days! 3 freaking days! No need to go work izzit? So this is an example of the hassle in claiming warranty. I have owned toyota and honda b4, nvr ever i had this problem b4

I can already tell from your post that you are a very hard to please fella. Granted, nobody wants to wait for 3 days but if it's their SOP then what else can you say? What they probably should have done is to offer a courtesy car ( I know they don't always do that), that would have been the right thing to do to keep the customer happy.

In your case, you should just stick to Honda, Toyota or Nissan. As far as I'm concerned, these 3 companies are the only companies in Malaysia at the time of this writing that has the biggest service coverage and support across the nation. Forget about the others in your case, I would recommend selling off the Polo TSI in exchange for an Altis/Sylphy/Civic or similiar car. It's suitable for your character who cannot tolerate any fault a car develop or when problem occurs, it must be rectified in 2 days or less.

@zweimmk: Adaptive xenon lights that have high beam on most of the time and block out the area where other cars are? That's quite nice. RNS 510 is also not bad, though a bit on the slow side. Auto braking, park assist, lane assist, adaptive suspension, the DYNAUDIO sound system. There's quite a bit that the Malaysian Passat is missing out on tongue.gif

What I have is the RCD510, there is now an aftermarket made for VW Kenwood player available so this can be rectified easily. I personally don't care for the auto-braking, park assist or lane assist. I would like to have the adaptive suspension and Dynaudio sound system though, they would be what I consider nice candies to have.

Auto dimming mirror is a standard.
Lane assist will alert you when you run off the lane but that is not a standard feature.

Only the following is desirable to me

Electric seats
Adaptive Suspension
Dynaudio Audio System (very desirable)
Adaptive Cruise Control (very desirable)

not sure if the adaptive suspension works the same as the car in my house (different marque) but it sure does affect the comfort, be it when you take sharp corners or slow/fast cruising. feels so comfortable in it. only thing you have to ignore is the 'turbo' like sound after getting off from your car smile.gif

The Citroen C4 had this feature for a long time. So yes, Passat should also have.

The sound system can be done aftermarket. Depending on where you go and how much you invest you can also get something better. A friend is getting the B&O system in the S5, but he wants to upgrade. Not good enough.

@stix: what car and brand? Sounds more like a Citroen, those are rather different from normal adaptive suspension systems.

CLS350. i believe it uses hydraulics(?). din't know what it was till i asked around regarding the sound that i hear from the car after stopping.

Anyway, regarding the B&O that you are referring to, that is the problem with cars these days. Everything is fitted OEM and its hard to 'modify' or upgrade. Even if you want to, it breaks your heart looking at the people tearing your dashboard apart. Gone are the days where they remove only the 'headunit' heh. As for myself, i love the Harman Kardon in the CLS more than the B&O in my own ride. Problem with both systems are, they lack of 'heavy bass' since im a electro freak. smile.gif

I am not a diff person to please. If i bought i proton, or perodua i couldnt careless. But we are buying premium cars at premium prices! I expect better service! You go to a 5 star hotel and they give u 2 star service, will you complain? Of course you will!

3 days without a courtesy car is unacceptable..unless so happen i am overseas and not using the car for that period of time.

From your post, i guess you are too easy of a person to please with tidak apa attitude. Whatever they give, you accept sweat.gif

I am less particular, but that don't mean I don't care. 3 days is still considered reasonable to me. Besides, my car is not the only car those people need to attend to so I don't expect miracles. As long as they get my car fixed within the week, i'd be happy. 3 days without courtesy car fine.... i am still ok but beyond that then i expect some form of compensation in the form of service voucher or courtesy car or i woukd surely make noise.

My verdict still stands, you don't want to deal with potential problems and easy fuss free ownership, just go with Honda, Toyota or Nissan. You want to buy Peugeot or Ford or VW then be prepared to deal with whatever problems which may arise. After all, these brands haven't been that active in our market until a few years back so you'd need to adjust your expectations in line with their current capabilities.

Yes and lose out on value for money, specs, power, transmission, handling, safety and design? doh.gif

Go read the KPMG Global Automotive Survey report 2012. By 2016 VW is expected to increase its current market share by 73% while Hyundai Kia comes in 2nd with 63%. Toyota is at a distant 32%. In short, although Toyota still reigns at No 1, its market share is being slowly eroded by other upcoming car manufacturers and for good reason too.

Kia gave me a courtesy car for a few days in early Nov while my car's wipers & aircon were being checked. Never got a courtesy car from Toyota despite my Vios being down for 5 days in 2009 due to a fuel pump problem which ultimately resulted in Toyota replacing it with a 2nd hand part FOC for me.

Who cares?
Being an owner doesn't make me a fanboy.

Fanboys wont bother about engine and other mechanical advantages. Fanboys talk mostly about mods and rarely do they argue with maturity. So please go check the meaning of being a fanboy before commenting ya. If ure not bothered then why bother posting +1 remarks everywhere? U post +1 when ppl talk about 1 or 2 plus points but when your your Camry's negative points are highlighted u immediately claim ure not bothered? biggrin.gif

My pads are fine. SO u actually took the trouble to search around for problems with the Optima? WHy? Running out of bullets to fight? Common..im sure ure more mature than that rite? And with all your research u could only come up with that 1 tiny issue which affected just him i guess?

doh.gif

The more u try and defend yourself the more u get stuck in the muck.
