According to the owner's manual page 309, I can only play dvd video when the engine is stopped and the parking brake applied. Dang.

Why I choose Camry in the first place:
1. I can't afford to buy a conti. 2. I can't afford conti maintenance costs. 3. At my place there are only Toyota and Nissan (and national cars) service center exists. 4. I did test drive Teana, and I felt that Camry is better. |

QUOTE(IluvProton @ Jun 12 2012, 08:26 PM) true, as i mention earlier Reliability is key selling point for most toyota. Nvr drive nissan / honda. but if my experience with toyota. yeah, not high tech stuff yet not that stylish for my opinion but my altis after 4 years + 3 years for my Salesman = still running. just regular maintainence. 380k km Nissan got the issue of parts expensive. this is the turndown but still a very good car My new 2.5V only costs me around RM60 from kl to Perlis. What I did was accelerating the car within the 'eco' range. The 'eco' indicator will disappear if the speedometer goes beyond 140km/h and if I aggresively push the accelerator. Even my 2 months old Latio 1.8 Sport consumes more fuel. Btw, imho, this car is not that luxury, even though it is better than all my current and previous cars. Please note that this is my first car in this segment. P/s: 1. I like the fact that I can use my phone via the audio system, but too sad that I cannot play video while driving. But then, even Grandis won't allow playing dvd unless the handbrake is on. 2. 400km more to go before the 1st service. |

QUOTE(kadajawi @ Jun 12 2012, 09:06 PM) Fair enough stix, I think the problem are those customers who just buy without thinking. If you decide to buy a Camry, after having driven all the options, and thus having decided that you like the way a Camry rides most, and that your life isn't worth much, then fine. But just buying it without considering the other cars is... well, not smart. If I am richer I would drive an Audi, but, for now I chose Camry between teana and accord.I know nothing about vsc, but I thought supercar has a racing mode which disable all these equivalent features in order for the driver to enjoy speed. Please do correct me if I'm wrong. I'm a kind of noob about cars. |

QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ Jun 13 2012, 08:56 AM) Ure right. U are a noob. U went for brand name and ended up getting a crappy car without doing much research. Pity. The rightmost meter shows the fuel consumption.U said your 2.5V Camry consumed only RM60 of fuel from KL to Perlis. Care to tell me how you measured that? Always use L/100km or km/L when discussing fuel consumption. Also what was your engine RPM at 110kmph? I got a range of about 750km on 75L of fuel (first full tank) with 50% town driving with eco mode and 50% highway driving at 140-160kmph without eco mode. That equates to about 10km/L on average for mixed driving. This post has been edited by kepalapening: Jun 13 2012, 12:23 PM |

QUOTE(feelfree @ Jun 24 2012, 04:04 PM) You sure it was 100% city drive? I have driven the Camry before both 2.0 and 2.4, if 100% city drive this result is impossible, the most I got was around >10km/l, never above this range, if for 2.4, even worse, sometimes only get 8.5 km/l for 100% city drive, but highway drive is different story. Maybe because 2.5 uses different engine and six speed gear box.Drive on highway within eco range from kl to perlis RM60. I try my best to drive within the eco range. No more than 140km/h. In other words, I try not to let the eco green light from disappearing. P/s: Perhaps your city is different from mine. This post has been edited by kepalapening: Jun 24 2012, 09:53 PM |

QUOTE(alvincks @ Jun 25 2012, 02:00 PM) Thanks Lehrry for your reply... Get the 2.5V then. That's what i'm not happy with ...Altis 1.8E already using Dual -VVTI but new Camry using older technology Added on June 25, 2012, 2:45 pm QUOTE(zweimmk @ Jun 25 2012, 02:04 PM) But your entire journey won't be stop start all the way what. Sure got some length of highway or clear road somewhere. Even if u go to KL to work, you'll be stuck in jam 100% of the time meh? In the morning cannot avoid yah but evening leh? Unless you die die also must leave at a fix hour then FC for that part of the journey also die already loh. That's why I avoid living in the Klang Valley or any other big city.840km is for sure not going to happen one lah. But I think high 600+ to early 700+km is not entirely out of the question. I can get that kind of mileage out of the car also I'll be very happy loh. My city got no traffic jam. p/s: When other people "balik kampung", me "balik bandar". QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ Jun 25 2012, 02:53 PM) Where do you live then? I live in Kangar. And what are your fuel consumption figures for 100% city driving? I mean full tank not just the first half of the tank. I don't calculate all by myself. But, when I first brought the car back from KL, I refuel the tank for almost RM60. This can be considered as the 100% highway. And for the city driving, I have posted twice in this forum the gauge photo that depicted the fuel consumption. OK. This is the first car that I don't push to the limit (yet maybe) like my other previous cars. I try to drive within the eco range. Even some of my friends shocked - why a sudden change in my driving style. It's a 2.5 engine man. Sitting in this car reduces my enthusiasm for speed. Like you all said, it's an uncle car. But, who cares. I would say enjoy the ride. Perhaps, the green eco light that disappearing when I push the throttle harder or when the car exceeds 140km/h that contributes to this scenario.
