Hmmm, I dunno. It would be foolish to go after a niche market for them.

From a personal point of view, I would not pay an amount that is higher than their continental competitors - it's just like I would not pay 180k for the Camry because the brand and the car is not worth the asking price. So even if the M6 can throw in all the bells and whistles, I'd still find it hard to justify paying so much money.... and for a Japanese car!!!

I believe the smarter thing for them to do is throw in almost all the bells and whistles or at least have 3/4 of all the gadgets found on the K5, keep 6 airbags and price it around 160k to 165k and they've got a solid Camry killer.

i think they not enuf AP to bring that many in. last time wat they did was launc the car a few k more expense
that time camry 139 they sold 142, but also had very little kit as well. at best they will follow the same way, price it slightly over, and about the same kit. if it looks that good, i am sure ppl wont mind to pay XXXk more for a cbu car.

bermaz knows the 6 wont appeal to the masses. so its going to target those with taste for the design. and squeeze the ringgits out of these ppl. its not hard to be more attractive than camry on paper, so features will be there to entice u, and so its perfectly logical to price it above the camry, and earn more. even that hanokuku dude said he wont mind pay 180+K for the 6.
Car manufacturers nowadays are smarter. 5 years ago the number of affordable D segments were limited to only the Japs and a few Koreans. But now u have much better Korean contenders e.g Sonata, K5 and not to mention more affordable conti makes e.g VW & Peugeot. Plus Mazda knows that they have to fight against the mighty Camry and upcoming Accord too. Bermaz will take all this into consideration.

Im quite sure the new Mazda 6 will have more gear than previous models. If they throw in a 6 speed auto and min 4 airbags with VSC in the 2.0L model and still keep the price below RM160K, we'll have another serious contender in the D segment. Not to mention the new Mazda 6 will come with the latest SkyActiv technology and ELOOP capacitor based kinetic energy regenerative braking systems.

Hi Guys.

Am new here and can feel lots of anger and frustration coming from u guys.
Personally would appreciate all opinions and views (good n bad) given, and if any doubts with a pinch of salt.
There is no necessity to condemn nor argue with our fellow bros.
Let this board be cordial.

I am here to share and obtain as much information because of great fascination with cars.
Frankly speaking, have a special liking for the new 2.5L Camry and now contemplating.....uh very tough decision.

Cheers Guys and Selamat Puasa to our Muslim Brothers.

well, camry is a unker car, uncle57...so by natural instinct, u shud like it..no offense, but wat im trying to say here abt to summarize all the arguments here.. i guess, u read quite a lot since u said u can feel the anger and frust and condemnations...

but i guess, it all boils down to u, firstly, it is ur money...2ndly, wat do u want most from a car?

resale value : non in d segment got good rv, but jap will give u the best, korean yet to prove themselve
handling : conti. Assuming from ur 2.5camry preference, u can afford passat, or 508
reliability, after sales, service : get camry, go ahead. But if u read K5 thread, u can noticed a few owners there has had good experience with the naza kia warranty claims and servicing. Im not sure abt other makers thou..
design and gadgets : upcoming mazda 6 is a beau, but going to be late 2013 launching in msia, and sepc price not firmed. K5 is a head turner, 508 n K5 gadgets are plenty
comfort : teana shud win ur heart here.
fuel consumption : hybrid perhaps?

So, really. It is ur hard earn money. Buy what u want the most. Izzit reliability? then go ahead get the toyota u mentioned. Or izzit handling? So far, conti can give u best feel of handling in this price range, no one else. Or something else. From there, then u choose the COLOUR and SA with best discount/service. Get the test drive, it will give u the best description than all the posts here can add.

For me, i chose K5 simply coz of the design and the real value in the car. Full of gadgets and safety features. At times, i am contemplating. Coz at times, i wish i got a more powerful car, a turbo charged perhaps like passat. But again, after self judgement, i find power is my 2nd criteria. It is down to individuals, no car can perfectly fit a person, but it can be the closest.

overall, if they bring the new mazda in, it would be the best choice within the D segment.

According to Warranty Direct's Reliability Index, Honda is the most reliable car brand while the Kia Picanto is the most reliable model.

Rounding up the top five most reliable brands are Suzuki, Toyota, Ford and Kia. At the bottom five are Mercedes-Benz, Alfa Romeo, Jeep, Porsche and Land Rover.

The top five most reliable models are Kia Picanto, Vauxhall Agila, Honda HR-V, Suzuki Alto and Ford Fiesta. The five least reliable cars are Ford Mondeo, BMW 3-series, VW Golf, Citroen Xsara, VW Caravelle and smart fortwo.

In summary, Japanese brands are generally more reliable than European (except for Ford), while luxury German brands are at the bottom half.

manufacturers of course are smarter nowaday due to intense competition

its those who bring the car in like bermaz, naza tat influence the final package for customer also.

also pricing decisions are not entirely in their hands as well. if too cheap nanti UMW whine.

My jaw dropped when I saw that peugeot rank higher than VW and Lexus. I thought the prince engine is quite bad in terms of reliability. But then I see alot of old peugeots in the list. 307, 206, 106. No idea how the index was calculated.

My friend test drove the Mondeo, and I trust his feedback. Basically the car is very solid, everything about it is good except for the not so good looking dashboard. Driving feel, NVH everything all top notch, even better than the Passat and PUG508... the problem however lies with the badge. If you put a VW badge on the Mondeo and numbers will fly, heck you stick a Hyundai or KIA badge on it also the car will easily sell as well.

If I'm not mistaken, the car was designed and tested by German engineers as well. Great car let down by the brand selling it, LOL!
