You should complain directly to university management if you're having problems with Admissions or the Accommodation Service. Don't suffer in silence. Universities are run as businesses these days and you are entitled to service. You are paying full fees, aren't you? If you keep quiet, the higher management will think everything is OK. Remember, they are the ones who went all out to recruit you promising the sky. Make them keep their word; don't be afraid as this is not secondary school and they can't punish you for making a valid complaint. I'd kick up a storm if I were you. Don't rely too much on your agents as they get a cut from the university and are worried about their own pockets.

Hey guys,

I know its very late, can anyone tell me when is the application deadline?
the website says 28 august but i just want to double confirm icon_question.gif

and also whether is the reception/office open tomorrow (saturday)?
i already send my scanned application forms and supporting documents via email but i'm not sure whether they received it or will they respond in time. So, i'm planning to go nottingham tomorrow to submit again by hand.

i'm not trying to ask for spoon feeding. i tried to called them twice but no one answer icon_question.gif

I am planning to send my application by fax tomorrow morning. Or is it better to go there and submit by myself? Just asking whether both ways are just as safe or the latter is safer that they will receive it.

Will there be people working at the office on the weekend?

Fax/or email would be fine. I'd personally prefer email since you have proof that you sent. And follow up with a postal copy (registered or not, up to you).

And no, they only work on weekdays.

Hi. I'm going to the University of Nottingham in Semenyih this September and looking for a master bedroom/room with attached bathroom to rent close to the university or in Kajang or Semenyih towns. Preferably airconditioned, furnished with study table, etc and with Internet connection. I'm an open-minded Muslim, mature (over 21), neat, quiet and responsible - not the partying kind. I don't drive so being close to transport lines is important. Flexible budget. Eid Mubarak to all those who celebrate.  Thanks.

Hey Dracy did you check out the forth post in the first page of the thread? I've listed quite a number of deals there.

Hello guys, my semester commences on September 2011, am taking Finance, Accounting and Management. Teehee. Looking forward to meet you guys next time. biggrin.gif

However, there is something I must ask here. Any of you are already year 2 or year 3? I wanna ask when did you start applying for accommodation during your year 1. I got my offer on 19th Aug, a Friday and immediately submitted my accommodation form on the next working day - 22th Aug. Today, they sent me an email, stating that they have allocated a Four Shared bathroom for me. I don't want it at all. sleep.gif

Any how I can appeal for it? I wished for any single room. ANY will do. sad.gif

I'm not sure but I asked them about it in case I don't get the room I want and she said you can't do anything about it... You take it or decline.

You got your accommodation so fast and I applied for it much earlier.

I have seen a lot of complaints about them not getting their preferred choice.

If you want to appeal, go ahead.
If you want to make noise, go ahead.
If you want to just sit and wait for a better deal to come, go ahead.

Here, my (and probably some other regulars here as well) advice will be:

Sorry my bad, I wanna ask when did you put in your application? So far, I heard there's someone who put in their form 2 months ago, ended up no single room as well. doh.gif

I did mine 6 months before Sept, in the end I pulled back my application for accommodation (so the newbie who took up my slot in the waiting list better thank me la LOL)

I believe the lady in Accommodation Office now is stressing herself out. tongue.gif
