I think under the part "Why we study here",
We can add in the Exchange Programme, whereby students are allowed to spend one semester (or maybe one year?) in the main UK Campus. [edit] If I'm not wrong the student just pay the tuition fees to their own campus, doesn't go by UK's fee. I'm not really sure about that yet, coz I haven't even begin Induction there. QUOTE(tanjinjack @ Jun 29 2011, 09:26 AM) You mean the nottingham.edu.my? That's a new one already. Last time one was even worse, at least now we share the same framework as the UK site already. No, not the official one done by Nottingham officials. I mean we need a dedicated Unofficial Site, sth different from a forum where we can really put all these accommodation reviews, foods and all that in a more organized manner.I am thinking of a meet up among us but are unsure how does everyone think about it. Maybe some days in the new semester. Added on June 29, 2011, 1:29 pmAND SPELLING MISTAKE SPOTTED. QUOTE(yixuany @ Jun 30 2011, 12:25 AM) *smacks head* Why didn't we think of that? We could provide a review on diff mobile broadband in Uni/Semenyih region as well! Speedtest.net could be used to benchmark I suppose?Added on June 30, 2011, 2:20 pm QUOTE(tanjinjack @ Jun 28 2011, 01:01 PM) In Nottingham (and the other UK institutions), in determining a class, it's the average that counts. I think Nottingham will be changing the system pretty soon, just came across this on the Net.>70 qualifies for the First Class 60-69 qualifies for a Second Upper 50-59 for Second Lower This link might be helpful. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_under...nal_comparisons Students at the University of Nottingham could soon be given a points score instead of a degree-classification when they graduate. Course code will be printed on your offer letter when you received it.Secondly, is my matriculation number the same as my application number Thanks. And your student number will NOT be the same as your application number, not the one with UNIMKL - [Number] |

QUOTE(tanjinjack @ Jul 17 2011, 03:58 AM) Hello everybody, greeting from the UK!! Photosssssssss! Visited the Nottingham UK campus last week and it is so big!!! Their lake alone could have been as large as our campus (at least from the academic circle till SA building). Visited the mechanical department and got shocked about the facilities they have and how clean their workshop is!! |

OMG does any of you came across SPIDERS in TTS before? I stayed in my friends house in TTS3 yesterday and this morning I woke up and saw a *toot*ing big spider, as big as my palm I swear. I'm fine with small ones but that one totally freaked me out.

QUOTE(tanjinjack @ Jul 20 2011, 06:27 PM) did you manage to smash it only to find a lot more baby spiders? Haha. you get used to seeing exotics anyway, very recently my housemate just found a rabbit out of nowhere. so, you get the idea I don't even have enough time to take a shot of that thing. Could have been due to the overgrowing weeds outside the compound, God knows what secret organisation these hideous creatures are having down there LOL. And luckily they aren't like cockroaches, they don't fly. *phew*anyway, anyone free enough to look for a new motto as monash has changed theirs to 13 years in Malaysia, find something that we are better so that they can't copy us! Anyway, "a prime alternative to Oxbridge" - from Wikipedia in quoting The Times. Or maybe, the old motto "A City is Built on Wisdom" which sounds pretty plain. UK (center dot) China (center dot) Malaysia, I know how to do type the center dot thru Mac but idk how to do the same from Windows. [edit] I'm glad that our first page still kicked their yass. Even tho all they've got is the 13 years tag lol. This post has been edited by alexander.ch_1992: Jul 20 2011, 09:00 PM |

QUOTE(entryman @ Jul 25 2011, 06:36 PM) I'm in search of a few students to rent an entire house or apartment together near the university.... Preferably Taman Tasik Semenyih (TTS), and somewhere further is allright too (if everyone else has a car). You guys know of anyone who's interested? » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Try contacting Danny and see, from what I understand last month he's looking for students to occupy the house as well. I used to contact him to ask about the room/house until one of my friend found a house. This post has been edited by alexander.ch_1992: Jul 25 2011, 09:01 PM |

QUOTE(atomicstone @ Jul 30 2011, 11:20 AM) Hello, Ten working days is just an estimation, excluding public holidays, Saturdays, Sundays (it used to be 14 working days or 2 working weeks if I'm not wrong), starting from the day you got the email titled "Received Application" from "NO REPLY ADMISSIONS", plus minus a few days. just wanna ask, does nottingham really take 10 working days to reply their applicants???reply as in giving notifications to the applicant in exactly 10 working days....answer from u guys would be much appreciated....thanks It might take even longer when it is getting nearer to the intake date (some students like to send it their application a few weeks before, which slows the processing) If you sent it months before, more often than not they will get back to you before the stated ten working days / fourteen working days deadline. Just in case you have not received any replies after the stated ten / fourteen working days (whether it's a call or an email), feel free to call them up and quote your application number. My advise is do not email and ask, it will take a day or two more. Calling them is the fastest way. This post has been edited by alexander.ch_1992: Jul 30 2011, 12:20 PM |

Am I missing out something? The Monash thread changed their title to "not an alternative to anyone... ^^"
Which sounds uber weird to me (maybe to others esp new forumers as well) And with utmost respect and absolute no offence intended, the "not an alternative to anyone... ^^" sounds really funny for me for reasons I dunno why, just totally LOL-ed when I read it. ![]() This post has been edited by alexander.ch_1992: Aug 2 2011, 08:26 PM |

QUOTE(entryman @ Aug 2 2011, 08:26 PM) Did our previous tagline change to "a prime alternative to oxbridge" by any chance? I was like o.O? and "what the?" when I first read it, thought my eyes were playing tricks. Not an alternative to anyone. I can't understand this statement.. Probably gotta ask their OP for the meaning. Added on August 2, 2011, 8:28 pmaddon: the OP probably wanted it to mean, it's not a second choice aka backup plan. Perhaps the "not an alternative to anyone... ^^" actually means "Unlike you guys Nottingham, we (Monash) are not an alternative to anyone" in exact context. <- Which still sounds weird to me. Or maybe, they read my suggestion for the alternative tagline earlier, that's why they changed it. [side note] Hey you Monash people out there, *waves*, where was your 13 Years in Malaysia? Well, nah.. we shall adhere to professionalism okay? A spectacular 101 acre campus situated among lush greeneries. Something along that lines? Just speaking of professionalism. Heh heh.
