If you have cash to put aside, buying any blue chip stocks when the CI is at 300 you can't possibly go wrong smile.gif

again talk easy, action susah lor...
I remembered when KLSE CI dropped < 300 mark (1998), the mkt sentiment wasn't that healthy as wat we can imagine now....
People were talking bout like end of world already, would central bank koyak or not, would RM become fake note? shd migrat or not? Maybank / Public Bank would "close shop" or not..bla bla bla, Now look back those statements sounds a bit silly, but it really reflex how the overall mkt fear & feel insecure wat happening.

Try to imagine, wat will make CI drops back to 300 mark?
I can think of War, Riot 513, Mega Earthquake etc.. only, by that time, you won't be so calm wink.gif

What if this happens in Bolehland next?

Australian unemployment in surprise jump
2011/08/11

SYDNEY: Australia’s unemployment rate unexpectedly rose in July to 5.1 percent, data showed Thursday, hitting its highest level since November last year as the economy shed 22,000 full-time jobs.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) said the jobless rate increased 0.1 percentage points from a revised 5.0 percent in June, worse than the 4.9 percent expected by the market.

There was a net loss of 100 jobs, with part-time work created falling short of the 22,200 full-time positions lost, the ABS said.

“The number of people unemployed increased by 18,000 people to 611,600 in July,” the ABS said.

The Australian dollar slumped to US$1.0139 immediately after the data, from $1.0211 shortly before.

Canberra has forecast unemployment to fall to 4.5 percent by mid-2013. - AFP

unemployment or its data is rather meaningless in bolehland.
they just incr jobs in civil service, taks force for this and that, gomen paid trainees, set up 1kedais, 1 clinics - always full employment.
better to watch gdp, debt/gdp, retail and housing transaction volume.

simple. If our economy is effected then it will.

If "somehow" Malaysia's economy is unaffected by the US. Then should be no problem, because RE speculators aren't so easily scared.

If the CI falls back to 300, you got money, you buy. What's the downside? Problem is, many ppl will be out of money, that's why cannot buy. But ppl who are cash rich (like Warren Buffet) will buy.

Let's put it this way, if it's the end of the world, would it matter where you park your money? How much gold can you carry as you're making your way to another country?

Ok let's say there's impending war. How much will props be worth, esp after being shelled by the enemy?

At the end of the day, if the world is coming to an end every investment will be worth nothing and it won't matter anyway. If the world doesn't end and the stock market recovers, who will make the most?

It seems like the pool of buyers is drying up... I think many of these flippers will not be able to service their mortgages, wait until their teaser/low introductory interest loan reset, foreclosure will rise dramatically, if even bank fire sale doesn't attract buyers (like US, Dubai, Ireland, Spain and starting to see in Australia), many banks will go bust for sure, follow by credit dries up...

Don't forget many buildings are under construction now, when these properties hit the market = property glut, still expect to flip for profit?

I think we are entering the final phase of this GOLD bull run, it is likely to see exponential/parabolic move in GOLD price in short/medium term.

GOLD price hit another all time high USD1815 per troy ounce this morning. If not playing margin, probably still can get in the train before the final parabolic move.

Interesting speech from the former FED chairman "The United States can pay any debt it has because we can always print money to do that", which means devalue our paper savings in the bank into oblivion...
