To people that interested to change their rear lamp, I just checked with Kia SC that as long our lamp is plug and play and dont involve cutting wiring. Warranty will be intact.

So means that we can buy this and mod the wire head to plug and play and dont have worry about the warranty.

Anyone that good in modding wirings want to be the first to take the plunge? smile.gif

The lamp is very sexy

Can still drive till your fuel tank runs dry, then cannot start. So be careful, don't leave your engine running unattended. Don't leave your love ones in the car unattended too. recalled a few cases where people hijacked the car along with children inside, and also that Subang Jaya case whereby they also raped the young wife of the car owner.

The Service Advisor at Kia Glenmarie told me got 2 reported cases of alarm installation that caused some short circuit to their Sportage.
1 is due to water seepage from window tinting kena the alarm wire and another is installation of front sensor and alarm system somehow screw up the meter panel, and the owner has to pay >3k.
Both installed the so-called approved alarm system from their respective SA/dealer but the SA told me Naza HQ still haven't give green light from alarm installation.

hi guys, i went to all the 100 pages to get the review on K5. I am planning to change my current car to D- segment car. Initially I am planning to look for Camry or Accord but since currently I am using Kia Spectra just went to their showroom in Feb to have a look at their new models. K5 really catch my eye. My wife love it and she think it’s really suite me well compare to accord. I do feel the New Camry interior look so dull and worse compare to the current Camry.

I had book silver K5 last week and went for test drive it last week at 1 Utama after look at all the review and negative feedback in the forum. I am happy with the performance of the car. Currently I am at dilemma either between Accord and K5. Few things that I would like to get the current owners feedback:

1)What you think will be the resale values of K5? Current I do own Spectra and almost for 7 years. I only able to trade in it for RM11k. I still have to top up few RM+k to pay off the bank loan. I am planning to sell of the car since I am start seeing problems with the car especially cosmetic problems.

2)How about the FC of K5 compare to accord?

3)How about the maintenance cost compare to Accord? More expensive?

4)What you feel about the service center? I don’t like their SC in puchong last time since always full and have book few week earlier and finally change to local workshop for services.

I don’t want to say the Kia car performance is bad since I didn’t see it in my Spectra. I found that my car performance is still good other than some cosmetic problems like dashboard warpage due to hot weather, aircon controller knob not functioning at 1 and 2, the storage box cover is broken due to the heat, the radio is gone. My another friend is not lucky as me since his spectra had lot of problems till he sell it off in less than 5 years. Do you guys think Naza and Kia had improved from Spectra to K5?

Unable to comment much on your questions as I never owe an Accord before. Just test drive. But I would that FC wise should be almost the same as their weight and engine output is quite on par with each other. And usually FC boiled down on how well you control your right leg smile.gif

About SC, I think that should be better with the opening Red Cube and several 3S center. I personally will send my car to Serdang Raya SC as I got my car there and their boss is wonderful.

Naza wont help us in changing the tail light one. Else will open a flood gate and incurred heavy cost to them. Brochures always got T&C to protect them. But I think I can bear with only the fog light. Haha.

Our immobilizer not that advanced to cut off our engine whenever our key is away else it will be perfect. I going to get my car now and will ask the accessory people to see what they have to offer.

I am not a Optima owner but have done extensive research on the car and test driven it 8 times to date. Let me try and answer you the best i can:

1) Resale values are based on demand. If the initial demand is good, there's a good chance resale values will be good later. In the past, Korean makes suffered really poor resale values due to poor sales, substandard quality and numerous problems. But since the emergence of the Kia Forte, Sonata and now the Sportage and Optima, sales have been picking up. The Forte is enjoying good resale value compared to any other Korean make. Its sales have beaten even the Toyota Altis for 2011. The Sportage is also enjoying good sales with only production delays delaying deliviries. But since its CKD now, sales should pick up. So to answer your question, yes im quite sure the Optima will have much better resale value compared to its predecessors in about 5 yrs time but i dont think it would be at the level of the Camry. But then again, ure also paying about RM10K more for the Camry.

2) As u can read above, the K5 is sluggish on startup so it will consume slightly more during town driving but once u past mid range, the power will kick in. I dont think it would be much different from the Accord with maybe only a marginal difference.

3) Maintenance costs is not just about periodic maintenance. Its also about replacement of wear & tear parts. Kia isnt cheap but im hoping with its new generation of cars being rolled out, parts will be more durable thus reducing the need for more frequent replacements. Honda isnt cheap either.

4) The Koreans have always been known to have substandard service centres compared to Toyota and Honda. Although they arent on par yet, but currently all their servicen centres are being revamped with the new look. Its an improvement process and its already begun. So dont expect immediate changes. But im quite sure in about 2 yrs time, they could be on par with even Toyota.

You cant expect everything. No such thing as a perfect car either. But dont forget that the main selling point for the Optima is its superb specs, futuristic design, good handling, good safety systems and most importantly value for money.

Try searching "Subang Jaya car hijacked and raped" in google and you'll see some reports. It happened in June last year, that poor lady must be traumatised for life.

There's another case that i recalled, this man who left his child in the car while he goes off to tapau breakfast in the morning. Some scumbag jacked his car and drove off with the kid inside. Everyone was panicked but luckily the kid was dropped off somewhere. It happened late last year i believe.

Ok, got some info about keyless remote, now I have another question..

When I was driving with "D" mode, then paddle shift still can be use for increase and decrease the gear thumbup.gif Is good for emergency or short distance stop, but is it hurt or spoil the gear? hmm.gif Is it not recommended to use the paddle shift like this way?

Thanks advise.

My fc is around 750km.. To Penang last week and some town driving also. Maybe 70/30. It was before my 1st service so go around 100km/hr only. My SA advice me not to drive above 110km/hr before first service. Let the car run-in first.

It's a good thing k5 comes with auto cruise. Most of the time on highway I don't notice my speed is above 120 cause it is very stable. brows.gif

My service mechanic told me he even reach 200km/hr in a test drive car.. shocking.gif ... And said it is very stable. I dare not try la. Scared Kenya saman... whistling.gif

Now I m in Kuantan. Pump full tank then drive here. Use only 3 bar of petrol only. Will check again when I drive back.

Most of my friends that saw my car fist time says its a Lexus ..  brows.gif

So far I am enjoying my ride veri veri much...  rclxms.gif

last sunday i was going back to ipoh, 4 adults and 1 kid and i try to push over 200km/h ... it reach about it about 205km/h thn i stop already.....
it very stable compare to camry 2.0g. some how camry max speed only 190km/h.
