The bank will then tell that their ATM CARD is out of stock, only got debit card, hehehe.. This is modus operandi of promoting debit card issuance.
Haha. But UOB Bank only issues debit MasterCard. So no worries there.

Of course not. It must be an UOB CDM. Anyway, you can open a basic savings account with your current bank and the first 2 IBG done every month will only be charged RM0.50/transfer.

May be a noob question, does anyone know is there any benefit if I open a UOB account???
Starting new job soon and pretty much can use any bank...and UOB is nearby...
Checked their website, but not much information...
Just want to make my monthly savings go a little futher...better than sitting idle with no interest...
Saw in the newspapers, some other banks offer MEPS free and such...
UOB websites says offer IGB FOC 2 x though...
Any info? anyone?

If OCBC is nearby, their IQ Basic account is your best choice (I'm using it now).
No account service fee for balance above $500
Free 5 x IBG per month.
Free 2 withdrawals at local banks’ ATMs via Visa Plus network per month.

Found a post stating somewhat along the same lines, but after that, the post also mentioned that they are only doing on company level...

Meaning individuals like us can't open...

Maybe thats why the offer is better??? Not sure though...

Seems like UOB isn't there at all...

I just open an OCBC individual IQ account 3 months ago in OCBC Damansara Heights branch.
All you need is credit card as reference.
They have some internal confusion - when I called they said only do corporate employee scheme but when I wrote email they said can open at any branch, just need credit card as reference - which i did they next day and got it.

So is the benefit as good as its made out to be???

So troublesome sometimes, dealing with banks and all...

Maintainance fees, Service fees, Convenience fees, Other fees, Just want to charge you fees...

Anyhow, can share your personal experience with OCBC and benefits of the so called "IQ" account?

Would be great to have some info before approaching them...

haha.. the last few post suddenly change this topic into ocbc credit card. anyway, its not that ocbc and mbb 2 card isnt good. its the higher minimum requirement that a fresh grad like me cannot apply. so my question now is, how good is OUB in terms of the card and services provided?

I also just received a new replacement card. Do we need to send sms to re-activate the "new" replacement card?
Besides, how can we check the smart cash earned? Recently done transaction at Harvey Norman but did not see 2% smart cash at customer copy receipt. Anyone can clarify this?

No difference as far as the % of cash back you'll get. For plat card, you'll need to swipe RM3K per year plus 12 times to get annual fee waived where as normal card only need swipe 12 times.
