haha.. the last few post suddenly change this topic into ocbc credit card. anyway, its not that ocbc and mbb 2 card isnt good. its the higher minimum requirement that a fresh grad like me cannot apply. so my question now is, how good is OUB in terms of the card and services provided?

Well, I use my UOB card for touch n go reload at caltex station, I gain every 5% rebates for every RM 150 I reload at there. UOB consider that as petrol transaction , not bad.

I didnt realize caltex can reload TnG using CC... which caltex did you reload your TnG? if its true i can fully utilize UOB cash back this way smile.gif and any charges applied?

owh.... then its not as worth as using AMEX. since amex point alone gives 2.5% but still a good alternate during emergency top up. any idea if other caltex also provide such service?

Im using both UOB One Card and MBB2card. The UOB One card is not as good as before already unless you have the platinum card and places that is included in $mart merchant. For One Card, the 5% petrol rebate is capped at RM20 only drop from RM30. Other feature by this card except cinema lose out to MBB2card.

#Savings for maximize petrol rebate for 1 year = 12x20 = RM240.
#RM240 - RM50 GST (no point at all to offset) = RM190.
#In case if they dont waive/not eligible 60x usage per year will be charged annual fee.

Just my personal opinion tho. I still swipe the UOB whenever place that does not accept amex. 0.3% for all other transaction vs 1x point on MBB Visa/Master = 0.5% is meh... In terms of customer support at branches, UOB act more professionally.

since when uob reduce the cash back for petrol from 600 to 400 or capped at rm 30 to rm 20 ? you have any most recent proof to show it ? does the smart cash of 2% in bhp affected as well ?

i just checked uob website, nothing indicate about the revision of cashback there.

secondly, UOB will absorb the 50 gst.

thirdly, where on earth in malaysia will charge you annual fees ? you first time utilise credit card ?

bro.. why shoot me so HARD? i'm just sharing info here. Please refer to below FACTS!

1. Please refer to UOB ONE CARD TERMS AND CONDITION:

a. 5% Cash Rebate on all spending on petrol;
Note: For the rebate category of petrol, the maximum Cash Rebate awarded for purchases made
by the principal and supplementary Cardmembers shall be capped at RM600 for UOB ONE
Platinum card and RM400 for UOB ONE Classic card per month.

#Both Classic and Plat used to be same capped at RM600.
#2% BHP not affected.

2. UOB do not absorb GST. As far as i am concern only OCBC absorb GST if spending >RM10k p.a

3. Annual fees is applicable for UOB: (waived by condition)

#Annual fee will be waived perpetually with minimum cumulative 60 transactions per year
for UOB ONE Classic Card/ 12 transactions and cumulative RM36,000 spend per year for UOB
ONE Platinum Card.

#What is the annual fee?
The annual fee of RM68 for UOB ONE Classic Card or RM168 for
UOB ONE Platinum Card will be levied.

2. UOB offers RM50 cash back to almost every cardholder, mostly upon request.  I used to own 2 uob cards, when i wanted to cancel one of it, they still offer me the rebate (the other card is new, also got the new application RM50 cash back). Therefore it is very likely that you can get the RM 50 cash back. If you call the CS to cancel due to gst and they did not offer you anything, then you wait for cancellation dept staff to call you around 1 week later, most likely you will get it. I got the offer even my usage was around 1k only for the last year

3. whenever you say you want to cancel your card, they will most likely offer you 5 year waiver on annual fees without condition
*
New card RM50 rebate yes but if you consider that as GST offset. About calling CS to cancel and get GST waiver need more member who experienced this to give comment (I think MBB don't practice this). Just hope UOB have more joint promotion with merchant to offer discount. I have once enjoyed once 10% discount at XianDingWei Taiwanese Tea Room.
