I don't think homeplug itself is the problem. It is in the network itself.

I m using TP-Link homeplug.

In the wifi router itself, there are 2 network profiles, 1 for data, 1 for iptv. If you plug homeplug to one of the lan ports in the wifi router, it will only connect to the internet. if you connect to the iptv port then you can only get iptv, it's separated.

So to solve this problem instead of connecting the wifi router to the BTU, i connect home plug to the BTU in 2nd floor. 2nd homeplug i connect to the wifi router WAN port in ground floor. Then i connect iptv to the dedicated lan port in the wifi router.

It solves my problem for now biggrin.gif

So in short i only have my BTU and phone on 2nd floor and my wifi router and iptv is downstairs, connected to my tv. biggrin.gif

I believe if you buy another router TP-LINK etc u can solve this problem? I'll read more from athena website tongue.gif

How are you connecting your homeplug? i m curious how it works. Because my case if i plug home plug to the router, it cannot find the ip address for the IPTV. Maybe the new black RG from tmnet setup differently?

I am aware of the different IP settings if you were to plug your cable to a wrong LAN port on the router. In both cases, the LAN cables were plugged to the homeplug on the correct LAN port .... one type did not work and another worked.

I cannot remember the actual specs of that cheaper homeplug. I don't understand how can this happen myself.

Trust me this is not the case.

So you mean you just plug the homeplug to any of the lan ports and both ur internet and iptv will work?

That's weird. I just found the admin password for the black router and there's no special settings for the iptv.

Which homeplug are u using btw if u don mind telling biggrin.gif

Thanks.

No ... a misunderstanding there.

If you plug the cable to the LAN4 (aka IPTV port), you can only use it for IPTV. And likewise for other ports it can be used for surfing only.

Oh then it's the same case for me.

If i plug into the iptv port i can only get iptv. I thought i can bypass that by plugging LAN1(normal internet) and LAN4(IPTV) into another hub. Then plug homeplug into that hub.

But then same case, the internet works, and IPTV doesn't. If i unplug LAN1 from the hub, then IPTV works again.

There seems to be some clashing on the network.

But now i just plug wan into homeplug and it's working without problem.

Now i wonder if i plug another homeplug into the wifi router can i use another homeplug in another room? will it clash with the WAN?

hmm...

some noob info, probably u guys already know.

for the IPTV STB if its on before the router is up..it not able to get the IP and hence cant connect to IPTV even though u wait for the router to be up...so u need to restart STB box..hehe

so router and modem must be up first then only on the IPTV to put it in another way. smile.gif

did u call streamyx whether ur termination request has been processed? sometimes they will send the bill bcuz the termination not keyin to their billing system yet. so u must know when is ur effective date and wait for the last bill.
the last bill should have credit i.e -xx.xx amount which they should pay back by cheque..

i recommend calling TM every now and then to make sure they really terminate your line which is what I did. too many horror cases. My collegue need terminate 4 times only they stop sending the bill..

My friend also had a problem similar to yours and the answer is the homeplug itself. If you don't mind, please share which homeplug you bought so that we could avoid it. Also, just to double check ... use the homeplug and plug it to your notebook or PC. If your PC / notebook is able to connect to the internet then homeplug is not the problem.

If this is confirmed, please get yourself a better homeplug and should solve your problem.
I'm using homeplug (and many others in here) without any problems.

Because the IPTV and Internet uses different VLAN, an extra step will be required if you would like your IPTV to be connected through a homeplug. For all the computers using the Internet with a homeplug, you can just use the auto-setup feature commonly found in most homeplugs these days. For IPTV however, connect it to your computer and use the provided utility by the manufacturer, you will need to setup both the homeplugs that will be used for IPTV to be on its own private network.

Reason is if you don't separate this way, both VLANs for Internet and IPTV will clash and that's why the IPTV won't work.
