hey guys, i got an issue that i need help with:

i got a letter from LHDN asking me to provide salinan asal of some documents and all that. this came from the kg. attap branch.

i got 2 problems:
1. the phone number provided in the letterhead i.e. 03-22633600 doesn't seem to have anyone answering it. does anyone have another number where a human will pick up the line?

2. they said that i have to produce proof of those documents within 30 days of the letter. the problem is, the letter is dated 21 Oct, but the letter was posted 29 Nov!!! Even by the time I got the letter, it was already past the due date. anyone gone through this issue before?

will appreciate all help. thanks!

the best way is to go oto ur kg attap branch and see the officer in charge.. giv all ur necessary documents and explained tat u onli received the letter after the due date.. if u haf valid reasons, they shud not penalise u...

Need some advise on this

"Perbelanjaan Perubatan Ibu Bapa : 5,000 (Terhad)"

Does this include buying medicine for mom in law? I need to buy some meds (buying 1 year supply at one go) costing about RM2~2.5k from hospital. If I get the resit opened under my name can I claim as my parents medication cost?

If there is a link to read up on this I woudl appreciate it thanks!

Hi all.
I already many times read about income tax.
http://www.hasil.org.my/goindex.php?lgv=2&chg=1
Actually I'm not understand.
This year already RM150 pcb from my salary.

The problem is, I always not enough money.
Because everything we buy give the profit to government.
Let said car, yearly need to pay insurance and road tax.
Loans include the interest 2-4% depends on the loans itself.
Buying house also same.

This years some expenses increase;-
1. Petrol
2. Electricity
3. Communication
4. Broadband (6%)

I fell very bad and burden.

The receipt must state "Your Name for Parent's Name" eg. John Tan Ah Kau for Joelle Tang Yi Yi
Mother-in-law's medication cost can be claimed by your wife only.

All the while me and my wifes' tax files are maintained perfectly. Every piece of documents that relates to LHDN is kept in my file. Every year the total deductions will be more than tax amount, hence every year I get tax refunds.

Recently, my wife got a letter from LHDN stating that she owes RM6 for 2004 assessment. I helped my wife to write a letter, attaching all the LHDN Statements and Refund Vouchers to ask how the RM6 came about. Well, the answer that my wife got from LHDN is that they are doing a random audit and found an imbalance amount in my wife's account. But they are unable to tell how they arrive at the amount. Even though they refund overpaid tax for 2003, 2004 & 2005 respectively.

While I do not mind paying the RM6 which is really a small sum, I am suspicious with the way LHDN came up with such claim in year 2011 for 2004 assessment. They can simply come up with such claim for a number of tax payers to cover up the shortfall in collection for the current year.

I would stick to "Innocent until proven guilty". Hence, stick to your gun. Write an official letter and submit to LHDN, preferable hand-in yourself at counter (print out 2 copies), and ask them chop-received on the other copy (you keep). Ask them to explain in detail how they come up with the RM6.

As long as they can't come up, don't pay.

When you do your income tax filing in April you just compute like normal and derive what is the amount of tax that you need to pay then deduct the total amount that was deducted by your co as tax. If tax deducted is more than you need to pay then wait for the refund and if tax deducted is less than what you are taxed then you need to pay the difference to IRB.

Your EA form should indicate at the bottom the total amount tax that employer has deducted to pay IRB for the year.

Hi,

Would appreciate if anybody could answer my questions:

1. Do buying hearing aid for my mother count as tax relief?
2. Does the receipt have to state my name or is it okay if it's under my mother's name only?

Thanks!

What's the criteria for 6% gov tax ? I remember over 1million will be able to tax.But for sure that tiny restaurant as my friend mention , no branch and etc impose 6 g0v tax at the bill.
Wondering why ? thanks you smile.gif

Got this from FAQ of LHDN (FAQBEENG2010_01042011_1.pdf):

Q37: I have bought the computer components separately, that is monitor keyboarad, mouse and others. Can I claim relief for purchase of computer in item D8A in our Form BE 2010?

A37: The claim for the relief of purchase of computer will only be allowed if the purchases which were done separately were meant for assembling a full set and the purchases were made in the same year.

Wonder if I buy a tablet computer can I lump wireless keyboard/mouse/headphone, printer, ext-HDD/media player, 24" flat-screen monitor as a FULL set? What about other tablet accessories bought separately? I bet if you pose this Question to 10 IRB officers, some will say NO, some say yes and some say don't know.

Let say in 2010 I bought a PC and claim for tax relief of rm3000. Can I sell it off a few months later say in 2010 or 2011?
