Comparison on prepaid Unlimited Mobile Internet plan, and postpaid U28 plan, both RM28:

UMI = 500MB data (2.5G speed thereafter), 100 free minutes to other operators, 60 free minutes per day to U-Mobile lines, 30 free sms.
U28 = 1GB data (2.5G speed thereafter?), 0 free minutes to other operators, (60 free minutes to U-Mobile lines per day?), 300 free sms.

Personally I prefer prepaid because that is my average data, voice call and sms usage. However, only postpaid provide bill statements. sad.gif

Question - I switched via MNP to U-Mobile prepaid, can I change to a U-Mobile postpaid line and keep the same number?

Thanks!! rclxms.gif notworthy.gif

i believe not so soon, step by step, to early 2013.

http://www.u.com.my/media-room/press-relea...aring_agreement

“This mutually beneficial partnership with Maxis will accelerate the expansion of our current 3G footprint to more than 4,000 3G sites in Malaysia by early-2013. Furthermore, the extensive savings generated from this agreement will enable U Mobile to bring even more product and service innovation for our customers while at the same time assisting the government initiative of “Broadband for All”.

check balance *118#
check broadband usage *118*2*3#

all number after 118 can change depend where you want to go.

Umobile's Ipoh network is so sucky I can hardly reach more than 1mbps on speed tests most of the time.

When I was in the Klang Valley over the weekend, my speeds average at over 5mbps everytime on the very same equipment that gave me lousy speeds in Ipoh.
With a 21mbps device, that got me over 13mbps easily.

Can't blame them for the shortcomings. Ipoh's fibre infrastructure is so scarce and limited, LTE or DC-HSPA will not take off until an extensive fibre optical network is put in place.

We're still in the 2Mbps sub-era back in this dead town!

The average speed Ipoh is getting based on Netindex?
1.56Mbps. laugh.gif

Even towns like Kota Bharu, Bukit Mertajam, Rawang, Kulim beat us to it.

http://www.netindex.com/download/2,26/Malaysia/

Average speeds in Ipoh by ISPs:

Jaring - 4.38Mbps
TMnet - 2.11Mbps
Maxis - 1.81Mbps
P1 - 1.25Mbps
TM ADSL(Streamyx) - 0.97Mbps!!! <--This is what most Ipoh Streamyx users are getting.

The Klang Valley is very different from other areas in Malaysia as it's heavily laid with fibre at every corner now.

You can see almost all lines in KL have fibre running on their poles now.

When that happens, bandwidth is no issue and they could pump them cheaply to radio/wireless base stations whatsoever.

5.5-6.0mbps is probably the highest you can get with a 7.2mbps HSPA rated device with overheads.
Double what with Dual channel, and you should be getting around 12-13mbps on average with a 21mbps/42mbps HSPA device.

They said The grass always look greener on another side. I am in Klang Valley. Within Lembah Pantai constitution. I don't feel lucky as you might have thought. With Umoble I managed to get the speed over 2.0 mbps with my first month subscription. The subsequent months never get over 2.0 . My speed is about 1.5 (non-throttled speed). Frequent disconnection. This one week, the disconnection happened way too frequent (estimate every 5-10 minutes). Until today, still remain the same. I went to UMoblie Berjaya, they said the classic excuse "We are upgrading". What can I do? The technology behind is not releveant to me, it is the end result to the customer. They can talk on the news of what ever tehnology for the sake of their shareholder benefit but as as customer we need something that we can really feel. At least not like what happening to me now. (yes, I am disappointed)
