I always wanted a 5.1 speakers for my computers....However, since you guys recommend S730, will go and check it out soon... Thanks...

The best is to test it yourself, see which one produce suit sounding to you nod.gif

In general, 2.0/2.1 suits for music while 5.1 for movies and games smile.gif

@power911: among options below, which is deemed the best choice??

Edifier S730
Logitech Z5500
Edifier S530D
Creative Gigaworks T3
Aego M
Corsair SP2500
Razer Mako

Another question is Logitech z5500 is 5.1 while Edifier S730 is 2.1. Would it be better if i go for Z5500??
*
Aego M would be my choice...
but that doesn't mean it's your choice. you have to test it yourself to know which one is good

for second question... don't forget about Edifier S550 (it's a 5.1 speaker)

Music and movies? Edifier S730 is the answer  nod.gif

Both Edifier S730 and Logitech Z5500's bass (S730 - solid clean punch, Z5500 - solid boomy punch) will easly filling your room but S730's satellites much2 better then Z5500's satellites from my opinion. Feels good mang when listening music with Edifier S730  notworthy.gif

Both got wireless remote controller, just what you need  blush.gif

If u r looking for 2.1 system, i will recommend u S730 smile.gif It got better SQ if u compare to Z5500.

here see screenshot
Z-5500 can be more more deep bass then edifier s550 and s730
because Z-5500 got ported that deep bass the playing recommed hip hop songs
but edifier s550 and s730 not much deep bass so not enough deep bass to playing hip hop

i have some listering hip hop now my z-5500 already blown
but very very nice deep bass that i like
now my z-5500 already send rma so i am waiting back z-5500

Dun listen to the noob above me... he knows nothing of good bass...

Go for clean tight bass anytime... it doesnt overpower the rest of the sound. I have a Z5500 and i use it maybe once a month when im lazy to power up my integrated amps.

Yes.. listen both. Check the setting the speaker is in. Make sure the demo unit is not crank up the treble or bass setting so u can get a better judgement.

well....if purchasing surround system the best is take review by 50% and 50% test it by yourself. then u wont go wrong.

some people who take review by 100% end up regret buying a wrong 1 when set it at home

for a 5.1 speaker system like z906, how big is the difference of the sound when using an analog cable VS a digital cable? I am using creative XFI titanium which actually has optical out, just wanna know whether there will be clear difference if i switch to an optical cable.

if so, can recommend me a good optical cable and where to get it? and i need to get 2 stands for my back speakers, where can i get that or it has to be customized?

Stick with analog better. Cos ur soundcard doing the decoding work. If u use optical, ur speaker control pod does it. But its good to still get the optical cable, cos you need it for DD or DTS (in movies tat support it). For stereo sound in music or anime or sitcom. stick to analog. Dont have to get too high end optical cable as the speaker itself has limitation and u wont really hear much difference.

Bro Nairdamil,

If you want better SQ - Edifier.
If you want booming speaker - Logitech.

Edifier better SQ=questionable hmm.gif

Mid to high end creative have very good SQ since its design and the speakers (not the enclosure) are made by Cambridge Soundworks (Creative bought this UK company). Only thing is they are very clear with good mids and highs. The bass and sub-bass is not as heavy as other brands (with the exception of their THX range).

Anyway just my 2 cents.
