I see. Maybe its the speed. Speed test on my Q10pro isn't as fast on my other device.
I will try connecting it via LAN, once I can find my LAN cable biggrin.gif

ya, go ethernet.

just got 100mbps today.

that speed, 4k hdr 60fps youtube works fine with q10pro.

stats for nerds shows these videos demand 40mbps or higher all the way for zero frame drop.

50mbps can do but not so smooth as we already know.

Hi everyone, I just got my himedia q5 4th gen from Taobao during the 12-12 sales.

I am using the Sony 4K tv and Sony home theatre BDV-N9200W. I connect the q5 to the home theatre via HDMI and the home theatre connect to TV via HDMI

But no matter how, I only can see 1080P instead of 4K

May I know how can I make it to view 4K? Or it will be 4K when I am playing 4K movie?

first, check yr home theater AVR... if it is rated 4k or 4k upscale or non-4k.

if 4k, u should get 4k; if "4k upscale", u cannot.

u will not be able to set box setting to 2160p, max is 1080p.

i have seen a case like that with an AVR with "4k upscale", not 4k.

yr box can do 4k, maybe your home theater cannot.

to confirm, simple... connect box to tv direct hdmi, set box to 2160p.

if yr tv shows 2160p, u know the problem is with yr home theater AVR.

had a brief look at the himedia A5.

it is comparable to Q10pro in that both are 2/16gb (but no internal HDD slot).

Q10pro hisilicon Hi3798C V200... A5 amlogic s912.

i only notice a few things...

.. A5 has same UI, works pretty much the same as Q10pro.

.. tried to load the bluray apk...no, cannot... so, u get just basic bdmv/bdiso playback like old Q models, no full menu.

.. the PQ playback settings are not there, i.e. no adjustment for video parameters, 24hz, auto frame switching.

.. the response time is a little slower.

for rm100-150 less than q10pro, one can decide if it is a good buy.

Nice!
Too bad my router doesn't support 5GHz wifi, haha.
BTW, for 2.0.6, do we still need to install the patch to make samba faster? Or was this for other stuff?

if u mean the bluray patch, it was available during firmware 2.0.5.
once u installed it, no need to install again with 2.0.6.
samba function was fine with 2.0.5, did not notice any change with 2.0.6.

the real difference came when i went 100mbps, change to new gigabit dual band router and used a dual band wireless adaptor for pc on wifi.
q10pro is already dual band, same results whether on ethernet or 5ghz wifi.
i tried both pc and q10pro on 5ghz wifi - all is good for samba'ing bdmv's and 4k.

besides samba working well, youtube 4k60fps is easy, kodi quasar becomes is a breeze.

so, when ready, do spend some money on a better router and other networking equipment to maximize q10pro and other performances.
i spent time asking questions and other users in other threads before i went ahead.
some comments were too conservative - can't do 50ft wifi reliably, need high end router, etc.
i did not spend too much but got what i want! biggrin.gif

Pretty much what I've been harping about... Most people think wifi and internet speeds are magic... They are not.. It's pure science.. Use the right stuffs, right placing, config properly and should be good. Nothing magical at all. Glad all's working.. Damn jelly with that 100Mbps.. Looks like I'm gonna really have to petition TIME to move into my place. So close by.

Broadband speed, network equipment and devices in sync is key.

300mbps is of little use if poor router or cheap box.

Most expensive box is a waste w/o high speed.

And all of that cant deliver much to eyes n ears unless u hv 4k tv, 4k avr or better.

Quite pleased with what i hv now.

Next project will involve a second location... tv, avr, box... more $ to spend!

Take a break n i will b back at it again. laugh.gif
