Just get HiMedia HD900A with the latest Firmware Version 1.0.2.16.
How do I set the player to play files in its native format? I think my TV/receiver have a better upscaling than Realtek. Thanks.

I don't believe any media player has the option to play formats in the native format automatically. The only way u can do that is to select the output resolution to match ur file.

The Oppo BD player has the option to output "Source Direct".

Also RTK upscaling is not that bad. I believe while its true that some displays have better in built scalars, the most damage is done when the file is compressed and the picture mucked with.

Well, my current setting on Q10 Pro is 422. I play a movie with chroma subsampling 4.2.2 and there is only audio but no picture on the TV. The same movie can be played on my laptop.

So I did some reading and found that it is discussed here:

Interesting to know that there are source files with 4.2.2 YCbCr format. Typically they would be in 4.2.0 format and the player has to convert to 4.2.2 or 4.4.4.

ya, go ethernet.

just got 100mbps today.

that speed, 4k hdr 60fps youtube works fine with q10pro.

stats for nerds shows these videos demand 40mbps or higher all the way for zero frame drop.

50mbps can do but not so smooth as we already know.

Q10 Pro plays YouTube 4K videos but not the HDR stream.

youtube...

this version 2.02.08 works very well with q10pro - 4k, uhd, hdr, 60fps... all will play nicely... if u hv the speed and 4k tv.

it is an androidtv version with voice search funtion.

can't disable it but u can deny audio recording to get to the keyboard to search.

use the arm version.

This allows for 4K UHD streams but will not send the HDR stream to ur display. It's a limitation of the Himedia. The best bet for 4K HDR YouTube is to use the built in app on ur display.

2.08 with Astro on the go did not work as well for me especially for live broadcasts (football). Streaming was blocky and resolution was not as good. The q10 pro was hardwired with 100Mbps line. At least it worked...but not sure why it was so bad. I did try other shows and while the resolution on HD programs was good but there was a lag on the audio and movement was choppy.

This is mentioned in Futeko for the 2.0.8 FW:

** THIS FIRMWARE IS FOR EUROPEAN HIMEDIA Q10 PRO ONLY!

** DO NOT INSTALL ON CHINESE HARDWARE VERSION Q10 PRO OR OR PREVIOUS GENERATION Q10 4K3D.

I believe our version is on Chinese Hardware right? Is this not a concern?

Mine was from nicety...worked fine with this firmware.

Unifi PlayTV working fine, haven't try AstroGO..

Yes.. can change position but can't change the size for embedded subs, so need to turn it off as it is too big for me.

PlayTv was not available via Play store, I had to install via apk.
