Hi all sifus,

Has any sifu noticed that Himedia Q series provides better picture quality than other series? Seems like the Q series chipset really good in picture quality.

The same quality of video, example poorer quality of IPTV, the edge of the image will be smoothen in Q series as compared to other android box or other Himedia series, seem like it will upscale to Full HD. Better for watching IPTV with this box than others.

Is it the case? Was thinking to upgrade to the latest version of Himedia Q5 pro if this is really good as compare to other box like mibox.

Terima Kasih smile.gif

Yes, I own q series...PQ definitely much better compared to my other boxes.

Think that will depend your on TV

1. when playing a file, press MENU on the remote, find advanced options.
play around with all the settings, until u r satisfied.
2. it depends on yr TV and/or AVR - hd, fullhd, 4k, HDR, Dolby Vision, 8 bit, 10bit, 12 bit..?
q10pro will detect what is the "highest" or "best" yr TV/avr can take, will not accept what is not possible.
u can read up chroma sampling. typically, RGB is preferred for gaming; YCB4.2.0 and 4.2.2 makes little diff for movie videos as most r originally 4.2.0.
4.4.4 is only possible for 60hz videos. i use 4.2.2.
now, please don't slam me wrong if i made a mistake as i am only user, no video/tv expert.

YES... for me, have said it a couple of times here. Only those who have used it will know.
having used all 3 on same equipment, i say picture quality: q10pro (i assume q5pro same) > Q16 > q5ii.
what i read n hear, Q as flagship is always better other series for media playback.
Get q10pro/q5pro, play the best quality videos on a 4kUHD TV, u will totally love it!
But be informed - Q10pro can do iflix, cannot do astrogo or hypptv e'where.

mangotv, letv, tencenttv, cibn... these are all paid china IPTV, can't get here even if u wanna pay.
mangotv has some deal with himedia, so it is in the firmware - mainly for china users.
but here, u can get only certain videos - older, less popular stuff, can't get VIP and other paid stuff.
i use it to watch documentaries and lifestyle shows - they are in HD.

Very comprehensive writeup. After fiddling for a while, I got the menu.

Thanks for the tip on the PQ setting.

if u hv not changed anything in the middle, it looks like a power adaptor failure to me.

try to use same adaptor (q5, q16, q10 all use same) from a fren or neighbor or seller to verify.

if yes, buy new... rm20-30 each.

"q5" - unless u made a mistake, this model is >5 yrs old.

worldwide, authorities, providers, their lawyers are currently going after the butts of u know who.

vst, cibn, youku, mangotv, tencent... these are all paid iptv... hard to get them working reliably and for free.

hongkong drama... always a difficult one becos canto is not popular worldwide... u need to visit kodi thread, try icdrama 1.2.6.3.

also... try whatever shafa.com has to offer, incl moli... u may still get lucky at this time.

i am now not sure if it is a crackdown or just a unifi problem... or both!

this kind of "unifi-china" hiccup happens all the time... used to happen 3-4 times a year in the past.
https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4339986/+20#bottom
i remember it was reported some "insider" alleged tm's paid bandwidth to/from china gets used up too quickly, traffic increasing very dramatically since 2-3 years ago.

checked moli last night - can get but need to wait longer than usual for the buffer to fill to get the stream playing.

If you notice while playing the TV dramas. LETV link are no longer available and VIP access to CIBN movies titles are also affected.

Feed-back from some of my friends in other country are also affected.

Hope they update the link soon.

letv, cibn, youku, tencent... these have always been difficult, geoblocked all the time.

it was easier to get some of them in the past, but now, very hard.

this is in addition to what was so good about 2-3 years ago - HiTV and Pudding - these were the best - 100% smooth, in HD! biggrin.gif

all got shut down, only some hit n run apps n links still exist.

i hv tried several others lately but only MOLI works well enough.

if this one goes, it will be the end..!

q5/q10 pro... firmware 2.0.4 should be ready next week:

from futeko:

I can confirm there is a new firmware . We have also received it for testing.

The official release will be next week, sorry for the date slipping again.

As 'RiCo97' posted on the Russian forum, it fixes the HDR bug. It's also rock solid stable, which is a relief after 2.0.3.

The posted changelog is correct.

Roll on next week..

live iptv china channels still OK.

VOD... everyone's reporting "dead".

moli just went dead... sad.gif

hopefully it is a unifi problem that will pass and not a massive shutdown of all of them. biggrin.gif
